Join in this discussion and perhaps learn something about cigars along the way.  Be warned, you will catch hell if you post something everyone doesn't agree with.  And heaven forbid if you should make a grammatical error, you'll be berated with GFYs!  So don't proceed if you have thin skin.  Then light a cigar, pop open your favorite pumpkin beer and welcome aboard!

New Chevrolet
-------------------------

A fifteen year-old boy came home with a new Chevrolet Avalanche and his parents began to yell and scream, "Where did you get that truck???!!!" He calmly told them, "I bought it today."

"With what money?" demanded his parents. They knew what a Chevrolet Avalanche costs."

"Well," said the boy, "this one cost me fifteen dollars."

So the parents began to yell even louder. "Who would sell a truck like that for fifteen dollars?" they said.

"It was the lady up the street," said the boy. I don't know her name-they just moved in. She saw me ride past on my bike and asked me if I wanted to buy a Chevrolet Avalanche for fifteen dollars."

"Oh my Goodness!," moaned the mother, "she must be a child abuser. Who knows what she will do next? John, you go right up there and see what's going on." So the boy's father walked up the street to the house where the lady lived and found her out in the yard calmly planting petunias! He introduced himself as the father of the boy to whom she had sold a new Chevrolet Avalanche for fifteen dollars and demanded to know why she did it.

"Well," she said, "this morning I got a phone call from my husband. I thought he was on a a coffee break, but learned from a friend he had ran off to Hawaii with his mistress and really doesn't intend to come back. He claimed he was stranded and asked me to sell his new Chevrolet Avalanche and send him the money. So I did."

Getting to the point of not even being interested in following the Jam.  Not much fun when there are only one or two deals you have any interest in, discount may not be great, or you're not going to hang around and miss them for the five minutes the good ones are up....like Nica Rustica's for example.

IMHO I tend to think that the premium cigar industry as a whole from manufacturers  to retailers is not in the best financial condition.  The constant industry consolidations are a strong hint.  CI announced a lot of corporate juggling a whole back that would usually be an indicator of troubled waters too.  Commies and taxes have to be hurting the entire industry.

Running scared and cutting back seldom helps the bottom line in the long run, most companies forget to take care of their customer and give them what they want, that is usually what made them prosper to start with.

Very true with both posts but desperate moves are the norm and 1st change is always reduce marketing and increase bean counter control including raising prices and forgetting about the customers.  Very classic and very obvious with Famous, CI her Sister.  I have also noted that when I visit B&M's anymore I am usually the only one there except maybe a couple of the owners smoking buddies.  Last few visits to the biggest one here I have been the only person there and they have substantially reduced their accessory inventories.

Simply HOPE I guess, most of us do the same thing.  Mash has better choices for sure but their prices are frequently stupid over the past couple of years and coupons frequently do not apply or require large minimums.  Simple 5-Pak deals were so nice for trying new things but now neither place offers much new or good deals on them beyond throwing out a little chum once in a while.

Absolutely, I'd love to be off today. The problem is that there are no holidays off without the kids around so it's not exactly a break. I used to get Columbus Day off at my old job but the rest of the industry worked so you just fell a day behind

Honestly I don't know why anybody including myself gets it, I would much rather get the Friday after Thanksgiving instead.  My wife works for a Foreign company and we get the major holidays the same but not most of the others.  She gets Christmas Eve, Day and the Day After Christmas which I would much rather get than many of mine.

It was ok, nice weather in the morning for the first 2 walks but then ie became almost too windy in the afternoon(25mph winds) so the dogs were struggling to pickup anything.  We saw 12 hens and 3 roosters, 2 roosters way out in front and we dropped one(soft hit) and never found it(landed in deep cover around water).
Dog did well, no issue with gun shots, so that's a nice relief.

Good morning gents!
Well good morning CG welcome to the dud of a Jam.
Good mornin Tex - ohh the days of the good jams where I would actually sit and watch them
Oh yeah that has been the topic of the day for the most part.  How was the hunting?
It was ok, nice weather in the morning for the first 2 walks but then ie became almost too windy in the afternoon(25mph winds) so the dogs were struggling to pickup anything.  We saw 12 hens and 3 roosters, 2 roosters way out in front and we dropped one(soft hit) and never found it(landed in deep cover around water).
Dog did well, no issue with gun shots, so that's a nice relief.
So youngster tell me who these bird hunters are.

Even the strip clubs in our area have lunch specials. There's one strip club that had a circular device on the bar that goes around in a circles.  A naked girl lays on it, and as it goes around she lifts her leg at each patron, making sure everyone gets a good peek...  I believe her name is Lazy Susan.   :)

Hot dogs won out...damn good!
Fine choice. I had hot dogs for lunch yesterday, and am probably having brats on the grill tonight. Murica!
Suns Out - Guns Out!
'merica
Now if I had BWW for dinner tonight that would encapsulate 'merica day!
Was hoping to go out to dinner, but the oldest came home from school complaining of chest pains, so she's either gonna head to the doctor, or lay around and take it easy tonight.
Dang-hope it's nothing serious!
I'm sure it's fine. She's by far the most dramatic of the bunch. Still waiting to hear from the doc if he even needs to see her.

Not organized, no. We were running around outside yesterday, but nothing more than she normally does when she plays outside.

I just poured myself another cup of joe.  Downloading a few gigantic files I'll need in order to upgrade my servers and it's taking way too long.  I can just shutdown my laptop and try again tomorrow OR go smoke a cigar for 90 minutes or so and return in hopes the download will be complete.  I'd just leave my laptop connected to finish except that I have to work tonight and will need it.

Those guys from Texas could have kept this nasty weather over there, this  crap keeps shutting my power off.
Just rain out of it here all that stuff went east of me fortunately but sorry you are catching the bad side of it.  Probably Bean's fault.

TxDave, you've been here long enough to know it's CB's fault.  Must be that foofoo beer talking.

Ahhhh sure hope I can grow up like Dean some day!  On the patio with some Mississippi Blues cranked up, Murcielago fired up and a Double Latte Milk Stout from the Beer Camp collection in a nice cold pub glass.  Damn life can be good when it wants to!!!  Thanks to Travellin Dave for the outstanding  smoke and it is one billowing smoke.  And thank you Columbus for this beautiful day off.
GFY and the day off you rode in on.
LMAO. Thanks Marky, I needed that.
Time to pour another beer.  GFY CG
Almost time for the GFY-trifecta, haha.  1more hour of work!
Lazy Magnolia Jefferson Stout Sweet Potato Cream.
Beer foul! Seven words in the name of the beer!
And without the use of Peanut Butter, Chocolate, or Coffee!
Or fuk'n PUMPKIN!!!
I still need to go pick up more ST Pumking.  Had Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar this weekend, great beer...smooth as hell and paired very well with a cigar.

I actually have one of those in my fridge but I've been disappointed by Rogue up to this point.
You get it at Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts?  Should pair well with an Apple Fritter.
Also good to know.  By the way, I do both Starbucks AND DD.

I'm guessing it will take about 45 more minutes.  It would be stupid for me to abandon it now.  Just sucks that I won't get home until 8 and then have to get on a call at 10.

Finally something positive in the news!  I have actually eaten at this place.

Well-known Kansas City burger joint Westport Flea Market has gotten some positive publicity for its “1985″ deal in celebration of the Royals’ ALCS playoffs success (because they’re selling burgers at 1985 prices, which is enough to get local news stations excited), but the restaurant is making headlines across the wild world of the Internet for another, related reason of late.

Westport’s owner, Jeff Zwillenberg, recently welcomed KCTV reporter Courtenay DeHoff to his kitchen to try one of the storied burgers, and promptly allowed the exchange to get saucy. Offering DeHoff a burger, Zwillenberg told her “I would love to see my meat in your mouth.” With the camera rolling.

Seemingly not one to be stopped in her tracks by an off-color, on-air sexual remark, DeHoff went with it. “It’s not the first time I’ve heard that,” she responded, taking a bite of the burger.

Talking to yourself again, Tony.  That's not a good sign.  PS Don't mourn the loss of the Obsidians, they're not that good.  PDR makes better cigars - the Sungrown torpedos are very fine, the Flores y Rodriguez Cabinets (Magicos or whatever) are really good for the money.
