Have I ever mentioned that my wife's people on her dad's side all come from Newark?  Her dad even had the old "Joisey" accent, which I hear is disappearing.

Her mom's side are Polish from Buffalo.
I don't recall hearing it. That's interesting. I spent some quality time there. My alma mater is in Newark.
After the war, the eldest of four Schneider brothers from Newark, John, mustered out at Davis Airfield in Tucson (now Davis-Monthan AFB), and went to work for defense contractor Hughes Aircraft.  Youngest brother Roy had been responsible for taking care of mama Elsie in Jersey while his brothers were serving.  John told Roy to bring mama and move to Tucson, which was a bit of a boomtown at the time.  In the early 50's, John and his wife took in a teenage girl from Buffalo named Penelope Howell who'd been sent out to Tucson as a child because she had severe asthma and had been through a couple of abusive foster homes.  Roy got sweet on Penny sometime in the late 50's, after his own stint in the military.  They married about '60 and had three daughters; Debbie, Marjoree, and Carol.  I married Carol in '89.  That's the story.
Good story, and one well told.
Not enough Newark in the story for my tastes.

That was a good idea to add a spacer where a future ad could be placed. I'll split the profits with you.

Yeah, well, that's probably why Roy and I had a complicated relationship in the short time we knew each other before he died.  I'm from the west coast and can't understand why anyone would want to live in Newark.

Washington DC and Atlanta aren't top 5?  Houston/Austin/San Antonio I-35 corridor?
All suck...the difference is splitting hairs.

I think people in the Northeast have the hardest time "leaving home" .  Any time they venture out it's a matter of "this is nice, but they don't have this like at home or you can't get that like at home.  Most other folks I've met in different areas are more flexible about venturing out.

OOps...missed that one.  Not really a spacer, that is what transfers in the cut and paste where an ad actually was.

Let's get humping! There's a long weekend on the other side of this.
Not for all of us. Though, my sister and her family will be in town, so I'll have a lot of action packed into just the 2 days.
You can always excape over to Johns with us if you want.
How long will you be in town?
Cleveland or NJ?..... ;D

Just a quickie, driving up Friday, back Monday to meet son's schedule...
I would have done a more leisurely visit otherwise.
