Maybe we should all go back to family crests, then everyone can have whatever they want. Stripes, colors, no colors, bears, snakes, whatever.
A flag represents an ideal higher than ourselves, the ideal over the individual. The problem with most of the modern world, and especially the LGBTQX movement, is that both are violently opposed to the notion that there is anything higher than the individual. For the LGBTQX movement, the notion of a higher ideal is historically threatening.
Some would say, "Wait...most of the world wants socialism, which is collectivism, right?" But the reason all forms of socialism, including communism and fascism, ultimately fail is that none of them can get around the fundamental self-centeredness of the human, and having the state stand in for a higher power leads to really ugly results - equally as ugly, if not uglier, than having religion stand in for government.
No matter how much is given, humans want more. If they achieve equality, humans demand equity. If they achieve tolerance, they demand affirmation. We scream for equality and equity, but given the first chance to get more than the next guy, we'll sell our children and run over grandma to get it. It's the nature of the species.
Flags represent obligation. People don't like obligation. It interferes with their pleasure.
Pretty much sums it up, although I would say there are true altruists out there, and there have been times in (our) history where people have sacrificed for the greater good.
On the other hand while waving individualist flags, most people are sheep and seem to want to be led, whether by religion, by cults or cults of personality or your favorite porn star's opinion.
There is always the exception that proves the rule.
And a cult of personality is nothing more than the empty promise that the adherent will get what they think they deserve without having to work for, compete for, and earn it, and that their failure to already have it is somebody's fault other than their own. It's Whitey's fault. It's the immigrant's fault. It's the Jews, the Muslims, the CisGendered, the 1%, BLM, AOC, or the Deep State. It's the Corporate Fat Cats. It's the Welfare Queens. It's the queers. It's the Communists, the Libtards, the Conservatives, the GOP, the Democrats, the Russians, the feminists, the Catholics, the Protestants, and ISIL. It's the cops. It's the criminals. It's the hippies. It's the hipsters. It's the NRA. It's the gun-grabbers.
It's all bullshit. You don't get what you deserve, you get what you negotiate. And the more you fail to negotiate and the more you hand over the negotiation to the state, the more the man sticks it right up your poop-chute.
