Long daily commutes will take the life out of you in the long run, I worked in Plaquemine La for over a year and that 90 drive each way was a killer. My dad had a 130 mile round trip commute for over 20 years, the money for him was great but it aged the hell out of him.

I doubt she will give to many people sympathy either as they bitch about being worn out after their 3 and 4 day weekends. Thursday and Friday were really crazy for me at work, busier than the last hurricane, 10,000 lbs of ice on those two days and since we bag our own ice everybody is a little worn out from the holiday.

Still waiting on my NRs too, but bought 15 more on the Devil to go with 20 Cuarentas.  Forgot to revisit a box of CyB corona reals and kicking myself for it. High hopes for some Pinoleros.

Bit of a pain in the neck, as it was limit 2 per bid, and you had to watch carefully for the sequence that would lead to the $22.50 price.  Had two 5-packs snatched out from under me.  But managed to get three bought.

Nice!  It's good stuff.  They just released their Grapefruit Sculpin.  Bottles will start surfacing locally within a week or two, probably everywhere else it's distributed in time, as well.  Brewery had it available for growler fills Friday so I picked some up.  Tasted largely the same with a little more emphasis on the grapefruit (duh!).

Smoked one Friday after about 2 months rest and IMHO $22.50 is about $7.50 more than they are worth with free shipping.  Could be why they are free falling, very disappointing introduction but might get better after a year of rest like the Undercrowns did.

Don't think I had anything new-to-me over the weekend but I made my first 'revisit' to the Nirvana by DE or Royal Gold or whoever wants to take credit for it.  Nice enough cigar but I don't get any of that cinnamon type flavor I sometimes associate with cameroon wrappers.  The Nirvana is smooth and creamy and all that, but I've found both that I've smoked to be a tad boring.

Haven't had that particular size but I'll pick some up.  I've had the Victorias (petite lancero), Nobles (robusto) and the 4x40 petite corona.  Favorite of those three is the robusto, least favorite is the petite corona.

I had one Corona Gorda about a week off the truck, maybe less.  It just wasn't ready, imo.  Lots of black pepper unbalanced against everything else, which itself was pretty muddy.  Not much in the way of flavors I usually associate with Cameroon.  I'll be giving it another try in two weeks or so, about a month of downtime.

Yeah, this one was at two months down time.  I wouldn't guess cameroon wrapper if smoking it blind.

Drank the growler of Bourbon Barrel Aged Arrogant Bastaed Ale (Stone) yesterday... awesome beer.  A shame that that one's not available in bottles.  Maybe I'll take them to the Stone Brewery for lunch after our field trip.

Also - a real small restaurant/brewery chain just opened up a new location a mile or two up the road... Urbn Street Brewing Co.  Lots of stuff on tap including 6-8 of their own beers, menu of various coal fired pizzas.  Went there for lunch on July 4th.  Good pizza and I really liked their Urbn Brown Ale... chocolate/graham cracker.  Somewhat light ABV (5.5%, I think?) but very drinkable, especially at lunch time.

Wishful thinking, I'm afraid.  I'll just pick 'em up, feed them corn dogs, and put them down for their naps.

OK, let's try beer talk to liven things up a bit.  Gotta get the kids early from daycare today, may take 'em on a field trip to the Ballast Point brewery - Victory at Sea available for growler fills.
Sounds perfect, kids love the brewery experience. Needless to say I'm jealous of the VaS growler

Drank the growler of Bourbon Barrel Aged Arrogant Bastaed Ale (Stone) yesterday... awesome beer.  A shame that that one's not available in bottles.  Maybe I'll take them to the Stone Brewery for lunch after our field trip.

And definitely pricey for what you get.

You never took me on field trips like that when I was out there.

Indeed.  Afternoon, Dave.  Won't be repurchasing the Nirvana but glad I tried it.  Got three left, so maybe I'll bury one for a year or so just in case it somehow changes for the better over that time.  I do like the Fuente Hemingways more with each passing year of rest, so who knows.  Of course, I'd rather just spend less on the Hemingways in the first place.

hello sir, yesterday, had some friends over, we had grilled veggies, 2 slabs of ribs, and some sirloin steaks i grilled.  Jeff had brought over a bottle of Caymus 2001 Cab Sav a year or two ago, and I had Nadine put a post it note on the bottle: Do not give away, do not turn into sangria, do not serve to peasants.  the only reason we didn't open it, when he brought it, is it was St. Patricks day 2 years ago.  Expensive red wine, not as satisfying with corned beef.  beer went better.

It's not so much the working that's the problem as the fact that I'm awaiting delivery of a bunch of cigars.  So I'm not talking about cigars I want to buy, and I can't talk about the cigars I haven't received yet.  And Joe's doing the parenting thing, so he's not posting anything provocative to respond to.  Oy's checking in - although given he's either in or on his way to Mexico, the fact that he's here calls his sanity into question.  But I don't expect to see him post-whore us to page 18.  So...just the post-holiday blahs.

Cabernet on St. Patrick's day would be perverse.  Of course, I'd say the fact of grilling red meat dictates against wine also, but that's me.  I really love wine, and my passion for whiskey is well known here, but if the entrees are being cooked on a grill outside, refinement has gone to sleep in the backseat and it's time for beer.

IMO.  No offense.  GFY.

IMO.  No offense.  GFY.
Oh I had 4 beers before the wine, two summer shandys, and two Sam Adams Summer ales.  I only ate one rib, but i cut up the sirloins like london broils, and I also had a MOW SP 52C with the wine...

I can agree. Slight pepper. Excellent burn. The wrapper has a taste like Pennsylvania Broadleaf. This is not what it is, but to me that flavor is there. Very good cigar, so far in the first third.

Anyone who has been to CF the last couple years & spent time with Banter BOTLs, watch this video & say who the Toyota forklift employee reminds you of, in voice, face & body type.
I haven't been to CF, I've only talked to one BOTL (Ken) on the phone, and I haven't looked ahead to see if you've already identified who you're talking about.  If I was going to just guess based on the personality as revealed in messages and posts, I'd guess Barry.  Guy in the video talks how I imagine Barry talks.
Nailed it, minus the tats, stretched earlobe & long beard.
I love when I'm right. Doesn't happen that often.

Sorry for the brief drop in.  Dinner's in the oven & I just have to nap a little do I can watch the Nats vs Orioles this eve.  See you later.
Beat them O's! later Sly
Kind of a pitcher's duel, Strasburg making a mistake with Nelson Cruz.  But Nats just tied it up with a hit by Span & HR by Rendon. Top of the seventh in this Battle of the Beltways.

Funny thing about that, Raz. When I was at my first CF last year, I came out of the Galleria building and saw these two guys talking.  Never met them in person, but immediately "knew" who they were: Barry & CB/Mike.  As we were talking I saw these guys walking up the drive towards us, still 50 yds away and I said, "There's Dean & Jeff (Sooner)." Never met 'em before in my life.  But from that I realized that you really do get to know the guys here on the banter on one level or another.

Flavors of dark, heavy wood and dark chocolate. Ash holding for over an inch. Smoke coats the mouth with a sweet finish that lasts a while. I never even looked at how much these cost. I guess I will do that shortly.

All this is at an event with 3,000 attendees on that day.  It was around noon.  Then we called Ken to make sure of his daughter's name & spelling, so Shorty Rossi could personally autograph his book that Dean bought for Ken's daughter.  So Ken was present to the group ... by phone.  It was really cool.  So you being able to "imagine" how Barry might speak is not too far fetched.

And, I received a bunch of Nica Rusticas from CigarFed.  I am definitely about to encounter organizational issues in my humidor. I'm running out of sprawl space and I think I'm going to have to scrounge some empty boxes to maximize the use of vertical space.

I hope you like them ! .
Sheesh, I think you out-gifted me, dammit.

In what has been a very tight game, the O's have blown it open in the top of the 11th with a hit by Cruz, HR by Davis, RBI double by Markakis.  Nats just letting this reliever stew in it.  He's more than half baked.  He's done.  He is outta here.  All this and no cigar.

Smoked the 2nd RG Perlas as a sanity check.  It is the correct amount of sane--excellent flavors and construction, just like the first.  2 in a row doesn't mean they're all consistent, but it does point in the direction of grabbing another 25 before they're not on sale anymore.

All these fine smokes that came in today, so what am I smoking?  AJ Overrun Churchill.  Gotta clear some of the lesser quality stuff out to make room.  It's too warm for neat whiskey.  So, CanClub on the rocks, and AJ Overrun.  Still a solid smoke.

And Tony's late with the flip.  Tony, if you want to give me permission to do the flip for you, I could do it.  I'm almost always here anyway, and I could do it from my phone if I happen to be out.
