Morning, muchachos. From the Left Coast.
I don't expect anyone to agree with me politically. I've engaged in some long exchanges with Golfin' Dave and Travellin' Dave about politics, but I try not to be combative. I try not to be an asshole. And as much as I support Trumpf, I do acknowledge that he's frequently an asshole. I acknowledge this.
But I'd really like to discuss why Golfin' Dave, and Travellin' Dave, and Tony, think this country will be better off under Biden. I don't. And it's not like I'm a rich guy. I expect all of you make more money than me. I mean, I try to be good at math. But what am I missing here?
Could we have this discussion, with civility? I know that others here have strong opinions about this, but disregarding that for now, could we have the discussion? I'd really like to know what it is you think I'm missing. Is it the guns? Is it immigration? What is it that makes you think we're going to be better off under Biden?
I dunno, maybe we can't have the conversation. Politics isn't what we're here for. But I'd like to try. I really want to know why I see things so differently than some here do.
I doubt Bret is still up at this hour but I hope he will join us and participate in the banter later in the day...
Good morning, Bret. This is definitely a controversial and divisive topic. And since we all see things a little differently and are very passionate about our opinions, it may not be an easy subject to broach.
I have nothing against the Republican party and have even voted that way in the past. My issues with Trump go back over 30 years. I read his book, I have visited his casinos, and I have even watched episodes of his show on tv. I did all those things because friends and family had asked me to give him a try. I have never found him to be charming. In fact, he repulses me. About the only thing I liked about him as President is that he wasn't a politician. In my opinion, that experiment failed. Most of the world used to respect the U.S. and now thinks we're a joke. The man is a habitual liar and I could never vote for that. I know Biden, Clinton, and all politicians lie but no one is as pathological as the current prez, believe me.
Ironically, people call the Democrats communists, socialists, and all sorts of names to indicate they are un-American. In my opinion, Trump has demonstrated in the last four years, only traits that are associated with a totalitarian dictatorship. What could be less American than that? I do not feel he is putting America first but instead, Trump first. I don't recall this kind of divisiveness ever before during my time on this planet and I believe Trump engineered this to help his position.
So let's just agree to disagree and discuss cigars instead.
