Hello everyone....  I'm having a sleepness night, so I thought I'd have a tiny sip of gin with some lime juice in it ...  :)   I've been enjoying my new pipe, but it's like when I started on with cigars, there are allot of tabaccos to try before I can find that perfect one.  I was watching a youtube video on pipe smoking, and this guy said, "Isn't it funny how you can smoke the same tobacco, and then one of them just tastes better than all of the other one."  Better flavor, better relaxing, and just more pleasure and enjoyment.  I pulled a Predomo Lot 23 Maduro out of my humidor the other day, and darn if I didn't hit that special one.  I enjoy that cigar, but some thing was just more magical with this one than the others...  I went onto Famous Smoke Shop Auction, and found the Lot 23 Maduro on auction for $14, so I bidded and got 2 - 5 packs for $28 + $7.99 shipping.  I have my account to consolidate until next Tuesday, so I may find some other deals along the way...

I guess I can't end with out talking about Petey the Parakeet ....  He turned a year old this past April, and he just talks up a storm.  He flys down to the bathroom to look at hisself in the mirror.  I just yell from the kitchen, "Here Petey, here petery..!"  And he comes to me just like a dog....  He loves to play with an old jingle bell.  I grab the bell and run through the house shaking it, and he chase me.  We have some old medicine cups (Niqual), and I'll set some of them upside down on the table, with a jingle bell on it, then set empty cups next to them, and he will go along and knock the bells into the empty cup..  Rather interesting for a little bird.  He's also hooked on junk food.  BarBQ'ed potato chips, Cheese It's, etc....  If I start eating potato chips, he starts going crazy wanting out of his cage.  Once out, no matter where I am, he hill track me down and try to jump into the bag of chips.  I only give him a very little tiny bite of one since he shouldn't get any in the first place...  Well, I'm going to wind this letter up for now....  I hope every one is doing good and enjoying the summer...  We have the grandkids in the morning, "7 a.m."  So it will be another day of summer play with the kids...  Good night all......

Taking the dog to the groomer this morning and will go visit the boys at the marina and have a cigar with them while waiting.  Then the warden has to drop me off at another marina where my sons boat is so I can bring it back up here and put it on the lift.  One of the lift motors crapped out Sunday and he had to dock at a marina down the river until we could get it fixed.

Always Something!

Today is Thursday, July 18, the 199th day of 2019. There are 166 days left in the year.

Today's Highlight in History:
On July 18, 1969, Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, D-Mass., left a party on Chappaquiddick (chap-uh-KWIH'-dihk) Island near Martha's Vineyard with Mary Jo Kopechne (koh-PEHK'-nee), 28; some time later, Kennedy's car went off a bridge into the water. Kennedy was able to escape, but Kopechne drowned.

On this date:
In A.D. 64, the Great Fire of Rome began, consuming most of the city for about a week. (Some blamed the fire on Emperor Nero, who in turn blamed Christians.)
In 1863, during the Civil War, Union troops spearheaded by the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, made up of black soldiers, charged Confederate-held Fort Wagner on Morris Island, S.C. The Confederates were able to repel the Northerners, who suffered heavy losses; the 54th's commander, Col. Robert Gould Shaw, was among those who were killed.
In 1918, South African anti-apartheid leader and president Nelson Mandela was born in the village of Mvezo.
In 1940, the Democratic National Convention at Chicago Stadium nominated President Franklin D. Roosevelt (who was monitoring the proceedings at the White House) for an unprecedented third term in office; earlier in the day, Eleanor Roosevelt spoke to the convention, becoming the first presidential spouse to address such a gathering.
In 1944, Hideki Tojo was removed as Japanese premier and war minister because of setbacks suffered by his country in World War II. American forces in France captured the Normandy town of St. Lo.
In 1947, President Harry S. Truman signed a Presidential Succession Act which placed the speaker of the House and the Senate president pro tempore next in the line of succession after the vice president.
In 1984, gunman James Huberty opened fire at a McDonald's in San Ysidro (ee-SEE'-droh), California, killing 21 people before being shot dead by police. Walter F. Mondale won the Democratic presidential nomination in San Francisco.
In 1986, the world got its first look at the wreckage of the RMS Titanic resting on the ocean floor as videotape of the British luxury liner, which sank in 1912, was released by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
In 1989, actress Rebecca Schaeffer, 21, was shot to death at her Los Angeles home by obsessed fan Robert Bardo, who was later sentenced to life in prison.
In 1990, Dr. Karl Menninger, the dominant figure in American psychiatry for six decades, died in Topeka, Kansas, four days short of his 97th birthday.
In 1994, a bomb hidden in a van destroyed a Jewish cultural center in Buenos Aires, Argentina, killing 85. Tutsi rebels declared an end to Rwanda's 14-week-old civil war.
In 2013, once the very symbol of American industrial might, Detroit became the biggest U.S. city to file for bankruptcy, its finances ravaged and its neighborhoods hollowed out by a long, slow decline in population and auto manufacturing.

Ten years ago: The Taliban posted a video of an American soldier who'd gone missing June 30, 2009 from his base in eastern Afghanistan and was later confirmed to have been captured; in the recording, the soldier (later identified as Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl) said he was "scared I won't be able to go home." (Bergdahl was released in 2014; he was later given a dishonorable discharge and fined $1,000 on charges of desertion and misbehavior.)

Five years ago: The United Nations Security Council held an emergency meeting a day after the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 with the loss of all 298 people on board, demanding that pro-Russia rebels who controlled the eastern Ukraine crash site give immediate, unfettered access to independent investigators. The Obama administration announced it was reopening the Eastern Seaboard to offshore oil and gas exploration.

One year ago: The 12 Thai youth soccer teammates and their coach who were trapped in a flooded cave for more than two weeks were released from the hospital. FBI Director Christopher Wray said Russia was continuing to use fake news, propaganda and covert operations to sow discord in the United States. European regulators fined Google a record $5 billion for forcing cellphone makers that use the company's Android operating system to install Google's search and browser apps. California's Supreme Court decided that a measure to divide the state into three parts would not appear on the November ballot. California's Highway 1 near big Sur reopened, 14 months after it was blocked by a massive landslide.

best political statement I've heard in a long time:

I want to make absolutely clear that our opposition to our socialist colleagues has absolutely nothing to do with their gender, with their religion, or with their race. It has to do with the content of their policies. They’re wrong when they attempt to impose the fraud of socialism on the American people. They’re wrong when they pursue policies that would steal power from the American people and give that power to the government. They’re wrong when they espouse and enable, and their leadership refuses to condemn, vile anti-Semitism. They’re wrong when they rush to blame America first, when they fail to recognize that this is the greatest nation that has ever existed, the exceptional nation. And they’re wrong when they fail to recognize that no people has ever lived in greater freedom, and then they go on and fail to provide the resources our men and women in uniform need to defend that freedom.

Our colleagues, our socialist colleagues on the other side of the aisle, are wrong when they advocate abortion up until the moment of birth, including partial-term abortion, partial-birth abortion, late-term abortion, and when they refuse to mandate care for babies who are born alive. Our colleagues are wrong when they say that we should open America’s borders, abolish ICE, and abolish DHS. They’re wrong when they advocate policies that would eliminate all private health insurance in this country, destroy Medicare, and force the American people to pay for free healthcare for illegal immigrants. They are wrong when they pursue policies like the one we’re going to be voting on today that will destroy four million jobs for low-wage earners by mandating a federal $15 minimum wage. That is not compassion. That is callousness that’s born of ignorance. They’re wrong when they say that their programs help people at the lower end of the economic spectrum. Every one of their socialist programs would create massive new government dependency and end the very economic growth we need to ensure everyone can prosper.

Not sure where I got this o e from...maybe a St. Paddys Day sampler.. but a Filthy Hooligan with another storm cell passing through.
Dont want to be breakin' no rules either.
Again, it's very much appreciated. Plus we get to document the cigars we're smoking.
Sounds too organized for my taste.
Then never mind.
