Busy Bus Stop

In a crowded city at a busy bus stop, a woman who was waiting for a bus was wearing a tight leather skirt. As the bus stopped and it was her turn to get on, she became aware that her skirt was too tight to allow her leg to come up to the height of the first step of the bus.
Slightly embarrassed and with a quick smile to the bus driver, she reached behind her to unzip her skirt a little, thinking that this would give her enough slack to raise her leg.
Again, she tried to make the step only to discover she still couldn't.
So, a little more embarrassed, she once again reached behind her to unzip her skirt a little more.
For the second time, attempted the step, and, once again,
and much to her chagrin, she could not raise her leg.
With a little smile to the driver, she again reached behind to unzip
a little more and again was unable to make the step.
About this time, a large Texan who was standing behind her picked her up easily by the waist and
placed her gently on the step of the bus.
She went ballistic and turned to the would-be Samaritan and screeched, "How dare you touch my body!

In general, I'm trying to keep things looking familiar. Some of the codgers on here are having difficulty adapting as it is. However, you have the ability to change that setting for yourself:
Profile > Modify Profile > Look and Layout
4th from the bottom is - Messages to display per page:
Please note that when someone says, "Hey look at that pic Ken posted on page 3" that's not gonna work for you. Hope that helps.

Sure can, Morning Mark. Love that smell! Didn't think it came across much in the flavors, or at least not as much as the smell would indicate, but it's a nice "curve ball" in the rotation. If you enjoy it I would recommend the MUWAT Kentucky Fire Cured. More Latakia flavor from what I'm used to with pipes. But if you generally don't like latakia, I would avoid the KFC at all costs.

I could apply CI's code to some Papas Fritas still in my cart, would get 'em down to $14/tin with a purchase of 2+ lots. Also considering the warehouse clearance code on the Oliva V #4s, which makes them just a little cheaper than they've been for the past couple weeks (30% off instead of the normal 20 or 25%). And there's the $40 Famous code that expires this weekend, though I think I'm safe from temptation with that one.

And if you want, we can give you the tour of fisherman's terminal, where at that time of year you can see the boats from the tv show.

I tried clearing out all sorts of old shit with old logos and whatnot just to bring in cash from stuff that was just collecting dust in the warehouse. One of my 'blowout' items were New Era fitted hats. Can't remember what I was asking for them but it was real low, like $10. Someone from NE must've seen it because I got a nasty letting saying I was not to sell this particular product below a certain dollar amount or they'd pull the account entirely. Called it price integrity or something like that? Basically didn't want to be associated with a "cheap" hat.

He was talking with a close friend about it, and he said " I'm already 50, I'll be 54 by the time I get this finished going part time". He friend answered, "How old will you be in 4 years if you DON'T do it?"
That simplicity sealed it for him and he started the next month.

Yep! Kinda the same thing for me. Been talking about it for a long time, much longer than it would've taken me to just get the damn Masters degree. Finally just went for it. Sure, it'll take a year and a half or so, but time flies and I could've very easily found myself a year and half from now still talking about wanting to go back. Just had to make sure the wife was on board since I'm as good as gone once the kids go to bed. Love smoking cigars during 'class' though, haha. Would've gone to a lot more of my classes in undergrad had smoking been allowed.

But I'd bet they have just as much money if not more than Altadis to fight it. So who'd win? I'd follow that battle, for sure. The good news is that this sort of thing wouldn't just happen overnight so you'd have plenty of opportunity to stock your humidors for the end times.

Altadis, and General used famous Cuban cigar trademarks, and made them with non-cuban leaf, and knew they could get away with it, because no one will side with communist Cuba. I wish they would get sued, and have to pay Cuba for the license to use the name. Only if the money went to the people--to buy toilet paper for instance! ;)

But I'd bet they have just as much money if not more than Altadis to fight it. So who'd win? I'd follow that battle, for sure. You want to tell the Jewish families whose assets were stolen by the Nazis that it's just the spoils of war?
I have no political axe to grind here, but the issues fascinate me. In theory you could say that the comparison is unfair, because the communist revolution overthrew the despotic dictator the way the Russians helped overthrow Hitler. But it was still depriving citizens of property without due process. And since there's no way anyone could remotely press a property claim in Cuba, why should the Cuban government get the benefit of American constitutional guarantees? Yadda, yadda, yadda.
I too wish the embargo would end. It's pointless anymore. Either invade the country or shut the fuck up.

Ha! Yeah, that scarred me from trying anything within a day or two of receiving it. Remembered real quick why I usually wait AT LEAST two weeks. More often than not it becomes a month before trying my first from a 'new' purchase. Even the Tat Blacks have been MUCH better after trying the first within two or three days of receiving it and it hasn't been THAT long a period of time.

Indeed. Even with significantly aged stock,the shipping temp/RH shock can make it a bit rough around the edges or hork up the burn. Not necessarily a huge issue, especially with cheaper cigars, but you ideally there are no issues (and especially with more expensive cigars).

Actually I blame CEO compensation tied to profit. Hey If I can make an extra 2 million by moving a factory to where labor is cheap, so what if it cost jobs here in the US. Can you buy a TV made here in the US? nope not since Curtis Mathis closed. yet RCA, Sylvania, GE, Zenith all used to make TV's here in the US, before they moved production. Heck the US used to manufacture cigars too!

Those cigars are gonna need a little nap.

Those cigars are gonna need a little nap.
Take that and when they get here it's 5% humidity.....what the fuckover?

Just stopped by a local sandwich/pizza place which carries an exotic variety of bottled beer and has a small bar with a similar rotating variety of drafts ... and guess what, today they have Southern Tier Choklat Stout, as well as some other great brews. My head was spinning from 3 samples, thought I'd better come home and eat lunch before going back. Only bad thing, no smoking on the chained off patio area. Sheesh.

Scott sent me a bottle of the ST Chocklat... so good! Easily one of my favorites since I've gone balls-to-the-wall with my beer consumption. Really wish we got that out here! And it's always hard to make recommendations because I never know what's available here but not somewhere else. So it'll be some beer that EVERYONE out here raves about (say, Alpine Nelson), but most people outside of southern California haven't heard of it unless they're really tied in to the craft beer world.

Just stopped by a local sandwich/pizza place which carries an exotic variety of bottled beer and has a small bar with a similar rotating variety of drafts ... and guess what, today they have Southern Tier Choklat Stout, as well as some other great brews. My head was spinning from 3 samples, thought I'd better come home and eat lunch before going back. Only bad thing, no smoking on the chained off patio area. Sheesh.
Scott sent me a bottle of the ST Chocklat... so good! Easily one of my favorites since I've gone balls-to-the-wall with my beer consumption. Really wish we got that out here! And it's always hard to make recommendations because I never know what's available here but not somewhere else. So it'll be some beer that EVERYONE out here raves about (say, Alpine Nelson), but most people outside of southern California haven't heard of it unless they're really tied in to the craft beer world.
A friend of mine, sometimes does catering/serving jobs on the side and will call when she needs an extra set of hands, either for serving or bartending. Two weekends ago we did an event which was a postponed wedding reception (wedding took place in Guatemala) and I bartended for the most part. A good part of the bride's family came from California for the event, including the bride's grandmother, who said she was from San Diego and was well aware of local microbreweries, incl. Stone which she lives near. We were serving a couple of Port City (Alexandria, VA) products on tap (Monumental IPA and Optimal Wit).

Stone's an interesting case out here. They're getting SO big and their stuff is almost literally everywhere - bars, stadiums, grocery store, liquor stores, gas stations - that a lot people are starting to stop classifying them as a 'micro' brew. Personally, I think it's just beer snobs being beer snobs, saying this to show how cool they are for being in to craft beer before it exploded.
Word from them now is that they're looking for an east coast location for another brewery. They're on the path to being the next Sam Adams.

One good think about CI's banter was the potential for new members since the site was visited so much to begin with. Lots of bad comes with that, too, of course.
But if I stumbled in to this site somehow I'd have no clue what was going on. Couldn't even break the ice with a "What's the free shipping code?" Nothing to have shipped.

The Quintero Londres really is one of the best $2 smokes I've had.
They're only a year old but they smoke well--yeah, they show some rough edges, but not all that much. And they look like cheaper cigars, rough wrappers, sloppy caps. No real major imperfections, though--just very rustic. Draw tends to be a little on the tight side but they burn straight, produce plenty of smoke, and have solid enough ash. And like almost all of the Cubans I've had, it has a slow burn rate.
Starts off with a mild straight tobacco, some faint notes of orange peel and some wood. Ramps up pretty quickly, adding a bold tobacco/dark chocolate/coffee flavor, some pepper, and keeping the general woodiness and orange notes here and there. Being young (and/or also tripa corta) the body and flavor strength sometimes waft around a little bit. Sometimes it gets more peppery, sometimes it gets creamier and woodier, sometimes it goes all bold Cuban tobacco with spices dancing on the tongue.
But those flavor shifts really aren't all that bad--keeps things interesting and none of the changes have been bad. It isn't like it just goes flat mild or turns bitter or gets full of ammonia. Just not 100% predictable how it will evolve as it smokes just yet. Could age out, could be part of the mixed filler experience.
This particular cigar has the mild start, slightly creamy sweet tobacco, hints of wood and citrus. Then it ramped up with peppery dark tobacco notes, a real espresso type flavor coming through before it backed off for about an inch. Rich full bodied tobacco, some woody accents, dark chocolate. Started to add back in some pepper, that jumped up and then smoothed back down, woody notes, citrus, and on and on it'll go.
A great buy at $2, imo. Sure, it isn't as good as the long filler, tier 1 smokes...but it's also $5-10 a stick cheaper.
