It's Tuesday again! In between insults we'll occasionally discuss cigars.  Join in and perhaps learn something along the way. Warning: don't proceed if you have thin skin but don't be afraid to post either... And welcome aboard!

Mid 90’s or higher are pretty unusual this close to the ocean and especially this early in the summer.

Not too many years ago the Feds would not have allowed such nonsense on those Federally Funded Sign Boards but they no longer have any sensible standards either.   I guess the $11 million is for “message development” and programming because $11 mil would barely pay for the lower cost overhead signboards installed on the Interstate.

Today is Tuesday, May 28, the 148th day of 2019. There are 217 days left in the year.

Today's Highlight in History:
On May 28, 1977, 165 people were killed when fire raced through the Beverly Hills Supper Club in Southgate, Kentucky.

On this date:
In 1533, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Thomas Cranmer, declared the marriage of England's King Henry VIII to Anne Boleyn valid.
In 1863, the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment, made up of freed blacks, left Boston to fight for the Union in the Civil War.
In 1892, the Sierra Club was organized in San Francisco.
In 1912, the Senate Commerce Committee issued its report on the Titanic disaster that cited a "state of absolute unpreparedness," improperly tested safety equipment and an "indifference to danger" as some of the causes of an "unnecessary tragedy."
In 1918, American troops fought their first major battle during World War I as they launched an offensive against the German-held French village of Cantigny (kahn-tee-NYEE'); the Americans succeeded in capturing the village.
In 1929, the first all-color talking picture, "On with the Show!" produced by Warner Bros., opened in New York.
In 1937, President Franklin D. Roosevelt pushed a button in Washington signaling that vehicular traffic could begin crossing the just-opened Golden Gate Bridge in California. Neville Chamberlain became prime minister of Britain. In Nazi Germany, Volkswagen was founded by the German Labour Front.
In 1940, during World War II, the Belgian army surrendered to invading German forces.
In 1957, National League owners gave permission for the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants to move to Los Angeles and San Francisco.
In 1964, the charter of the Palestine Liberation Organization was issued at the start of a meeting of the Palestine National Congress in Jerusalem.
In 1972, Edward, The Duke of Windsor, who had abdicated the English throne to marry Wallis Warfield Simpson, died in Paris at age 77.
In 1987, to the embarrassment of Soviet officials, Mathias Rust (mah-TEE'-uhs rust), a young West German pilot, landed a private plane in Moscow's Red Square without authorization. (Rust was freed by the Soviets the following year.)

Ten years ago: A white New York City police officer killed an off-duty black colleague in a friendly fire incident in East Harlem. (A grand jury declined to indict Officer Andrew Dunton in the shooting of Officer Omar Edwards, who had drawn his gun and was chasing a man who had broken into his car.) Kavya Shivashankar, a 13-year-old girl from Kansas, spelled "Laodicean (lay-AHD'-uh-SEE'-uhn)" (lukewarm or indifferent in religion or politics) to win the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Five years ago: Seeking to redefine America's foreign policy for a postwar era, President Barack Obama told West Point graduates the United States remained the only nation with the capacity to lead on the world stage but argued it would be a mistake to channel that power into unrestrained military adventures. Maya Angelou, 86, a Renaissance woman who survived the harshest of childhoods to become a force on stage, screen and the printed page, died in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

One year ago: Speaking before an audience of Cabinet members, military leaders, veterans and families, President Donald Trump paid a Memorial Day tribute at Arlington National Cemetery, saying he came to honor "America's greatest heroes." The Golden State Warriors reached the NBA Finals with a win over the Houston Rockets; it was the fourth straight year the Warriors would meet the Cleveland Cavaliers in the finals.

Thought for Today: "Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage you can't practice any other virtue consistently. You can practice any virtue erratically, but nothing consistently without courage." — Maya Angelou (1928-2014).

The Texas Senate on Sunday approved a bill that would allow any Texan who can legally own a firearm to be able to carry it either open or concealed for seven days after the state declares a natural disaster, The Dallas Morning News reported.
How else are you gonna stop dem rioting sonsabitches?
but what about the everyday riots?
I think that's the idea behind "stand your ground." Everyday riots or people of a color you don't care for, either way.
I feel everyone who can legally own a gun should have the right to open/conceal carry regardless of state or natural disaster.

Good morning grass cutters.....  Yelp, cutting grass between storms..!   Well, I got stupid the other day and bought a tobacco pipe.  I have 2 corncobs, but thought, "hey, isn't it about time I bought a real pipe..?"  After reading a Gazillion reviews, there was always some one saying, "this is a great pipe, almost as good as my Peterson.."  So it appeared most people were using Peterson as the comparison pipe.  So I got a Peterson Dublin Filter XL02 + with 9mm Charcoal Filter, and it smokes great.  You can buy bulk pipe tobacco from $1.50 to $3.49 an ounce.  So I spent about $15 for 5 ounces of various tobaccos that I've never heard of..  Lane 1-Q, Lane BCA, Sutliff Chocolate Mousse, Sutliff Vanilla Custard, and some Menthol.  I'm not real sure why I bought the menthol..?  Now when I smoke in the house, everyone thinks I'm cooking chocolate brownies or some thing in the kitchen..  Anyway, I hope everyone had a nice holiday ..!!!  Now back to grass cutting and you regular scheduled program...  On the attached website, it's the pipe at the top, bent ball ...

I just ordered some coffee yesterday.  I was talking to my wife and said, "You know that yellow can of coffee that sits on the counter by the coffee pot on the tv program 2 and a half men..?"  I always wanted to try that.  So I ordered a can of Cafe Bustelo Ground Espresso Coffee 10 oz.  Then I said, "I've always wanted to try coffee with chicory, so I got Community Coffee & Chicory Ground Coffee 12 oz.  Then I said, "Oh look, blueberry coffee...!"  So I ordered New England Coffee Blueberry Cobbler, 11 oz.  And I threw in some birdseed for Petey...  I guess I was just in the mood for coffee yesterday...   :)

The End of Women’s Sports: Biological Male Wins NCAA Women’s Track Championship

A biological male who identifies as a woman won the NCAA women’s track championship over the weekend.

Cece Telfer. a biological male (transgender), won the women’s 400 meter hurdles on Saturday night and beat the second place competitor by over a full second.

The coach praised Cece Telfer for being the first student-athlete in Franklin Pierce history to collect an individual national title.

Today was a microcosm of her entire season; she was not going to let anything slow her down. I’ve never met anybody as strong as her mentally in my entire life,” Emerson said.

The NCAA boasts of its “inclusion of transgender student-athletes” because they believe in and are committed to “diversity, inclusion and gender equity among its student-athletes, coaches and administrators. We seek to establish and maintain an inclusive culture that fosters equitable participation for student-athletes and career opportunities for coaches and administrators from diverse backgrounds.”

good! I'm glad. I think all male athletes that can't compete at the top level with other males should declare themselves trans-something-or-other and kick women's asses.
You might have some pent-up aggression. Just sayin'.
Are you sure it is “pent-up”?

Crazy Chit Here!

Can I be the first to call bullshit?  Nothing wrong with transgenders competing, just compete with the sex you started with.
That's a tough one. Thought about commenting but I choose to not have an opinion.
Nothing tough about it to me except trying to hold my lunch down while thinking about it.
Why don't they just create a new transgender class...?

Rise and Shine Smokers and Workers, Hot Coffee Is Served.
Hey Dad, I was with you on the Coffee until you pushed that blueberry button. The other two are 2 of my favorites, I drink the Cafe Bustelo almost every morning.  Great stuff!
+1 on all counts (no blueberry coffee for me).
I bought the blueberry coffee for $4.95.  The reviews were so good, I just wanted to see what it was all about..
