What a fustercluck of a day. Two of four ISPs went down, and we completely lost communication with our Cloud systems.
Second disaster day in a row.
I need a raise.

Stay humble. Good guys don't finish last.
Nothing like those first few minutes of terror when your entire team inundates you with the news, "We cannot connect to any of our servers in the cloud. We are dead blind!" to make you humble.
Not to minimize the hard and excellent work you do, but at least you could drive in and start banging on pipes and machinery with tools and make everybody feel like there's hope and a reason they pay you, or if nothing else vent your frustration.
All I can do is tell my team, "It's going to be a late night without overtime. Work the problem," and then try to figure out three dozen ways to tell my superiors "we do not know," while maintaining an air of competence.
I suppose I could go kick the dog. But I like the dog.
