A couple weeks back, I promised LTG some photos. These aren't great but I'll walk you through them...

First floor renovation (before) -

Let's start with the old kitchen. It was L-shape. From the first photo you can see a doorway leading to a yellow dining room and then behind it the kitchen extended about 5 more feet.(2nd photo). Also, you can see a door handle on your left which led to a powder room.

First floor renovation (before) -

This is the dining room and from this perspective that doorway to the kitchen would be all the way at the end on the left.

First floor renovation (before) -

This is the living room. From this perspective, there is another archway to the left (not shown) going to the dining room. This is from where I would have taken the previous photo.

What you can't tell from these pictures is that from the living room, there was a half step up to the right going into my front room (former home office). There was also another half step up to get into the dining room. Then yet another half step up to walk into the kitchen.

First floor renovation (during) -

These are two shots during construction just to give a little context. The stove was disconnected here and being pushed from side to side as it was in the way. It wasn't able to be removed until that wall with the window behind it was also removed. then, to the right of the stove you see another brick wall between kitchen and dining room.

In the second photo we're looking at the back wall of the dining room after the interior wall was removed. You can more easily see that the old kitchen had a notch in it.

First floor renovation (before and after) -

Let's move to the outside so that you can see what happened to that notch. In the before picture, you see that dirt pit which is where the a/c units used to be. Can you find those units in the after photo?

First floor renovation (after) -

Amazing what 36 additional square feet can do!

In the second photo you can see a glimpse of the new powder room. What you can't tell is that there is a pocket door from the dining room which leads to a landing, basement steps to the left and then there is another regular door to the powder room on the right. Both doors open here, making it hard to tell that.

I gotta say, I am utterly impressed. It absolutely looks like an entirely different house.

I liked the house I bought 19 years ago but I love this so much better. The increased functionality is exponentially better.

And it's so much more open and brighter. What a change.
