On my way to DMV to get my car inspected. Haven't had to do this in decades. Haven't owned a car for more than 5 years in forever. I had been leasing vehicles and always returned them before they were due for inspection.
Sounds like a pain.
We have something similar here, called an e-check (the e standing for emissions). It used to involve going to a station and having them test your tailpipe emissions, but in recent years, they just scan the OBD port and make sure everything is running ok. They have self-service stations now where you can do it yourself in less than 5 minutes. Have to do it every 2 years, I think my wife's car is up for it this year. Which means by November, because even though it's her car, the registration is on my bday.
