NEW YORK CITY
An Original Poem by KC.
“New York City, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways.//
I love thee when I’m uptown, where the stench invades my nose.
I love thee when I’m downtown, where garbage stains my clothes.//
I love thee in the summer, when the tar sticks to my feet.
I love thee when they pave ‘round cars park-ed in the street.//
I love thee by the factories, which spew forth filth and grime.
I love thee down by City Hall, which spews forth naught but crime.//
Thy dear, quaint, pristine beauty, and thy old charm I adore.
But if thou floated out to sea, I’d love thee even more!
