Title: 2/27/2015
Post by: CigarBanter on February 27, 2015, 12:19:25 AM
Holy crap, we actually made it through another week.  It was touch and go there for a while.  HAPPY FRIDAY!!!  Share what you know in this forum and perhaps learn something about cigars along the way.  Be warned, post on this site and you will catch hell from members and trolls alike.  Therefore, don't proceed if you have thin skin.  If you can accept all that, light a cigar, pour your favorite beverage and welcome aboard!

All I know is that you can't even get on the jam to buy a cigar. They should just sell cigars over here.

Its been getting worse for the last month, it makes you wonder why a company their size would not fix their problems.

Your Drink
-------------------------

Seven New York City bartenders were asked if they could nail a woman's personality based on what she drinks. Though interviewed separately, they concurred on almost all counts. The results:

Drink: Beer
Personality: Casual, low-maintenance; down to earth.
Your Approach: Challenge her to a game of pool.

Drink: Blender Drinks
Personality: Flaky, whiny, annoying; a pain in the buttocks.
Your Approach: Avoid her, unless you want to be her cabin boy.

Drink: Mixed Drinks
Personality: Older, more refined, high maintenance, has very picky taste; knows exactly what she wants.
Your Approach: You won't have to approach her,> if she is interested, she'll send YOU a drink.

Drink: Wine - (does not include White Zinfandel, see below)
Personality: Conservative and classy; sophisticated yet giggles.
Your Approach: Tell her you love to travel and spend quiet evenings with friends.

Drink: White Zinfandel
Personality: Easy; thinks she is classy and sophisticated, actually has no clue.
Your approach: Make her feel smarter than she is.... this should be an easy target.

Drink: Shots
Personality: Likes to hang with frat-boy pals and looking to get totally drunk...... and naked.
Your Approach: Easiest hit in the joint. You have been blessed this evening. Nothing to do but wait. However, be careful not to make her mad!

Then there is the MALE addendum. The deal with guys is, as always, very simple and clear cut:

Domestic Beer: He's poor and wants to get laid.

Imported Beer: He likes good beer and wants to get laid.

Wine: He's hoping that the wine thing will give him a sophisticated image to help him get laid.

Whiskey: He doesn't give a hoot about anything but getting laid.

Tequila: He is thinking he has a chance with the toothless waitress.

White Zinfandel: He's gay.

Yep, a whole 45 minutes extra sleep but got to get headed out soon.  Threat of ice this morning but looks like it will stay a little north and west of us which suits me just fine.  33 and dry right now.

Offer something decent, and you can't even get on the site to order.
I won a 5-pack of Four Kicks corona gordas yesterday I need to add to. You said you'd smoked the toros also, right?
Toro is good too.  Got some of both coming as well!
Give the edge to the toro or robusto? I've only smoked the robusto, the corona gordas are harder to win
Rob for sure.  The CG's end again in 7.5 hours.
Yeah the price gets driven up on them at times, they sell a 5-pack every day and I ship on Tuesday
I switched to Wednesday ship since it means they get here on a Tuesday instead of Monday.  Besides, I can usually get 3 bids in on the Four Kicks that way.  CG is the preferred for this cigar indeed.
Last Saturday jam had the $40/10 Four Kicks robs.  You able to do much better than that on the bid?
Yes, shipping is $5.99 flat rate no matter how much you win, just need to set your account up that way. You can set to ship once a week, the site sells a 5-pack each day of 4 different sizes. I paid $16 for the CGs and now looking to add. The robs and toros can be won @ $13-14 so you can combine sizes if you want and you wind up below jam price easily

A famous and well respected BOTL has departed this life.
To the Notre Dame Community:
It is my sad duty to inform you that the Rev. Theodore M. Hesburgh, C.S.C., died late Thursday at Holy Cross House on the campus of his beloved University of Notre Dame. He continued in his final days to visit with family, friends, and fellow Holy Cross religious, and to enjoy the occasional cigar.

He was 97.

I used to do cbid and know about the shipping (and spreading out that cost  ;) ), but $28/10 would be a nice deal for sure.

Yeah, doesn't a letter like that have to come from a court or constable's office?  Tell the park manager to GFH and the tits he rode in on.

I used to do cbid and know about the shipping (and spreading out that cost  ;) ), but $28/10 would be a nice deal for sure.
Right, so you could be @ $34 shipped, I have the jam deal in my cart, trying to stay under $40 total shipped and get the vitolas I want

I think the lonsdale has the highest entry bid minimum for some reason... $24 I think

Morning, Scott
I have heard the lonsdales aren't worth the extra.  Often come tightly rolled.  CG is definitely the best of the bunch.

Agreed. Just thought it strange because everything else usually starts at $12
Gotta make their money somewhere.  Besides, some are pulled in by the mystique of a small ring at a high price.

What's your handle over there, Dave. If I see you on a bid, I'll try not to bid it up too much.

and the elvis (coleslaw on top of pulled pork, and the "MikeRib" Smoked Spare Rib meat is taken off the bone, drenched in Delta sauce and served on a pan roll with pickles and onions, and a order of fries, and the baby back rib meal.

Thanks! Was wondering,  there are a couple of the PDR offerings I like, but I'm always a little hesitant as I've also had a few of they're offerings that were "meh" at best.
Speaking of meh PDRs... The AFR-75 is really an outstanding cigar despite the large RGs I generally don't like.  That is, provided you can find them at a good price.  They ain't worth no $15+ a piece.
Haven't tried that one.  will have to give it a try.  Noticed the other day you were looking for some milder morning smokes.  I've used the MOW Virtues, CI Drew Legends (still not sure about it yet though),    oddly, the Park Ave by Gurkha but only after 2-3 months in the humi.  morphs into a pretty decent mild/med smoke imo.  also like the Perdomo Slow Aged Gloriosos Natural and maddie.

agree with you on the Perdomo Slow aged, curiously for me, I steer away from the Park avenues, preferring the Gurkha Symphony and Beauty. just got some five packs of the Elegance, have yet to give them a try...

Thanks, BYS.  Same as here.  I do the same for Scott.  Skipped a couple of bids before for the sfish.  What's yours?

been running around doing arrends. checked my finances for next month. I can write a check for $1,400 if need be (deposit and 1st months rent), pay to turn the electric on, pay the IRS, maybe buy a bed. I have to pay this months electric to the park and have to see if I can pay whatever camper time I owe in the park when I move out.

been running around doing arrends. checked my finances for next month. I can write a check for $1,400 if need be (deposit and 1st months rent), pay to turn the electric on, pay the IRS, maybe buy a bed. I have to pay this months electric to the park and have to see if I can pay whatever camper time I owe in the park when I move out.
Here's what you owe them:

+1  Your checkbook is incompatible with the way they do business....

Travis Kvapil had his NASCAR Sprint Cup care stolen on Friday (Feb. 27). Team Xtreme was on its way to participate in the race at Atlanta Motor Speedway over the weekend, but won’t be able to do so at this point. According to a report from CBS Sports, this was the only car that the team had to work with this weekend.

Georgia police reported that the car was in an unmarked white trailer that was stolen from outside the hotel where the racing team was staying. It went missing early Friday morning and the investigation is considered ongoing. They retrieve some surveillance footage of a silver or grey Jeep Cherokee coming into the parking lot and driving off with the trailer attached to it. There hasn’t been any more evidence released yet on how the case is progressing.

Kvapil took to Twitter Friday morning and posted, “Wow. Anyone near Atlanta find my stolen Cup car let me know! Unreal.” He later posted, “I bet when whoever has it, opens the trailer and is going to be like ‘oh snap.’” Businessman Vic Keller posted a message soon after to everyone on Twitter stating, “REWARD: I am putting up a pit pass for every spring cup race for the 2015 season 4 the one that finds @TravisKvapil stolen race car @NASCAR.”

As for what the police report states about the theft, the car is valued at $250,000 and a backup engine in the trailer was valued at $100,000. That’s in addition to all the other equipment that was also in the trailer at the time of the theft. That’s an expensive heist and the people that stole it may not have realized what was inside the trailer. It is because of that possibility that authorities think it might just get dumped somewhere and won’t remain missing for long.

I have a meeting from 3-4 too...fucking crime to do that to a guy on a Friday!
I got off at 2:30
I got off on Wed, hopefully again tonight....wait, what?
Next time you should see if the Warden wants to be a part of it.

On a conference call right now myself. Organizer hasn't shown up yet, though.  Figures.

What's the number and the code... we'll all dial in.
Would probably make more sense, might actually make some decisions.

"I think Mark is a critical part of this team and we should lock him up into a very lucrative contract."  ;)
I like the way you think but sadly I did not hear that on the call.  Guess I'd better get busy now trying to fulfill my overly optimistic commitments.

Well, Shit. I tried to get on as the organizer. Guess it was already in use. Maybe next time.

Man it's brutal, one guy had to lay off 2 employees, one of them being his brother!  Both Finance and Insurance guys, so at least they are very marketable for other jobs - actually liked both of them and thought they did good work.  20 other people I would have picked before them to go.

Just had 5 people get let go form the corp office - I'm ok...for now
Holy cow, glad you are OK.
I was in a meeting when it went down - A MEETING SAVED MY LIFE!  ;)  I get back to desk, everyone asks me what's going on, I'm 100% clueless.
Completely halts productivity doing it slowly like that.  Worked for a consultant that hired a consultant to develop strategy for laying of 66% of the division.  Learned all about that shit and then got laid off too.  Fuct up deal.
Damn that's crazy - yeah there is an art form to doing it and we don't do it well.
Yeah, one little added item to the strategy was to put the top level person to be laid off in the loop and make them do all the shit work then immediately after everyone is gone  can his ass too and nobody will be after revenge against that  bad guy yet not blame the real bad guys either.  Do it all in one day then immediately gather the remaining bodies and let them know they are all safe.  Do it all first thing in the morning mid-week too.  Not kidding.

Probably the same reason they seem to like doing it before Christmas.  You only hope they get their's in an equally humane way.

Absolutely. Actually have some Choklat stashed, but really been liking the 12Oz option in these VaS as of late.  Picked up an Abita macchiato milk stout earlier. Wasnt expecting too much, so went with the tried and true.

Those are very good as well, but I think I prefer the more medium body of the FdlA. Gives me a little mix from all the full bodies I seem to smoke more regularly.

FdlA toro and a VaS... Delightful.
The VaS is my favorite along with ST Mokah and Choklat. I just had a Yeti Espresso Stout, miss the vanilla that's in the VaS. It's also a great beer to smoke with
Girlie beers!

Had plenty of that not so long ago. Usually came in a keg with a funnel close by.
And a pair of "Oops, I Crapped My Pants"

Ok, I'm back.  What are we drinking?  Is Mark still around?
Only asking because I'm thinking beer, unless we're doing martinis.
Gin and tonic, Mr. Mayor.  It's whatever Friday, as long as it's not one of those fufu beers that fish and joe wacky seem to enjoy. Pussies!
Shit, I almost poured one.  Guess I'll go with the martini instead since your doing gin.  No fuck it, too much work I'm going with my big fat gut on this one; beer it is!
Not just any beer... Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar.  Not a fan of Rogue but this is the best of the bunch.  I believe Shaun is a fan of this particular frou-frou beer.
Far be it from me to judge a pussy's man's choice in beer.  Enjoy.
LMAO.  I still have about half of this 22 oz. bottle left.  Next up, a home brew made by Charlie.

This will be my 2nd from this batch.  It's high in alcohol and very much like the aforementioned frou-frou ones.  Like it better than the Rogue.
