Don't be a turkey!  Join in this discussion and perhaps learn something about cigars along the way.  Be warned, post on this site and you will catch hell from members and trolls alike.  Therefore, don't proceed if you have thin skin.  If you can accept all that, light a cigar, pour a beverage of your choice and welcome aboard!

Heaven and Hell
-------------------------

While walking down the street one day a corrupt Senator is tragically hit by a car and killed. His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.
"Welcome to heaven," says St. Peter. "Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you."

"No problem, just let me in," says the Senator.

"Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from the higher ups. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity."

"Really?, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven," says the Senator.

"I'm sorry, but we have our rules."
And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell.
The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.
Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people. They played a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and the finest champagne.
Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who is having a good time dancing and telling jokes.
They are all having such a good time that, before the Senator realizes it, it is time to go. Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises.
The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens in heaven, where St. Peter is waiting for him. "Now it's time to visit heaven for a day."
So, the Senator joins a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns
"Well then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity."

The Senator reflects for a minute, then he answers: "Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell."

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell.
Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage. He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above
The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulders.

"I don't understand," stammers the Senator. "Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there's just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?"

The devil smiles at him and says,

"Yesterday we were campaigning to get your vote...Today, you voted."

Vote wisely in November.

Many of us have actually disabled Avi's because of the tasteless ones making us unable to open the Banter in public.
I can understand that.  Reminds me of the time a lady at work got fired for watching the nude men's ping pong tournaments.  Who would have thought she'd get fired over that...?

Yeah, for example, I don't even know what the fuck you're talking about.  Mine have been turned off since CI's banter site and I don't even miss 'em any longer.

big feud going on between the two. Redneck Rick is fed up with Rich Guy Danny's bullshit trying to bring 'class' to the park and always talking about what he has, but never spending any money towards food for BBQ Saturday. I've gotten fed up with the constant bickering and set down boundaries. petty bullshit. it's a cross between Peyton Place and 3rd grade here.

I hope things smooth out some.  The worst thing in the world is to live next door to some one you don't get along with.  We started off in a 12x60 mobile home, and we hated the neighbor so bad, that we up and moved the trailer to another location.  How's the job and apartment market..?

not worried about the 'neighborhood', Danny will be going back to his rich life soon I figure. as far as the 'shopping' for an apartment or job situation I am just looking. not sure where I want to settle down at but I really like the remoteness where I'm at. still looking. snowbirds have everything that is available booked up until July so I have plenty of time. only looking for work to try and get health insurance. don't really need the money.

Our health insurance has been going up ever since I turned 59 or 60.  I still get it through AT&T, so I'm doing allot better than most I think.  After I first retired, AT&T had a new union contract when the employees would have to start paying for their health insurance.  First year was around $150 a month (for me and my wife.) Second year it doubled to $350, and for 2015 it's going up to $450 a month.  It's the best insurance they offer.  My wife has gone to the Emergency Room every year for the past 3 or 4 years, and I told her, "I don't want to not go the hospital just to try and save some money."  Her last trip the the ER cost $5,500 for the 4 hours she was there (insurance covered it.)  If we would have to pay a deductible of $6,000 like a lot of the cheaper policies, that along would justify the better, more expensive policy.

only reason I'm staying married is because my wife is carrying me on her health insurance but because they don't participate in out of network coverage I had to do a cost analysis coordinating flying to NY to hit all my doctors in a week (which is impossible), and that includes monthly lab work for my rheumatologist, seeing her every 3 months, eye exams every 6 months, my cardiologist, dermatologist, and PCP, or getting my own insurance. so for now I just have to stay healthy. so come June all the bills I share in NY will be free and clear and I will be totally on my own.

An arctic blast that dumped historic early snow on parts of Tennessee, the Carolinas, and Georgia will bring a wintry storm to the Northeast on Sunday, forecasters said. Strong winds and rain mixing with snow could lead to power outages, coastal flooding and breach erosion in southeast New England, including Boston, said the Weather Channel’s Michael Palmer. Up to one foot of snow is expected in northern and eastern Maine before the storm moves into Maritime Canada on Sunday night and Monday.

Meanwhile freezing temperatures will grip the country for another day – all the way from the Great Lakes to south Florida. Record lows are possible for the South Sunday morning and in Florida, including areas all the way down to near Miami.

In North Carolina, the areas around Asheville were socked by as much as six inches of snow Saturday. In Tennessee, almost 13 inches of snow fell near Hartford, a mountainous area 3,400 feet above sea level, and all roads were shut down in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Park rangers also evacuated areas of the park, worried that heavy snowfall might bright trees crashing down on campers, according to NBC station WBIR.

And in Chicago, heavy winds that gusted up to 60 miles per hour downed electric poles and sent waves on Lake Michigan swelling 20 feet. In Camarillo Springs, California, much-needed rainfall triggered mudslides.

I'm in the mood for a Rally's Big Buford Hamburger.
Munchies?  You planning on a relo to Colorado or something BD?
Judging by his early morning AVI, I would say yes on the Colorado move. My son says it's cold there now though.

Low 30's this morning with a heavy frost, pretty normal for us to get a burst of cold air around Halloween.

hello Mike, Johnny, and Chip again.

all my domestic duties are complete. dinner was pork chops and baked potatoes on the grill, and apple sauce.
thinking about setting fire to a CLE Connie toro with ginger ale, or an Arturo Fuente Chateau maduro robusto.

61 degrees with frost advisories out for tonight/morning. WTF. welcome to sunny Florida my ass.

JR and I told you to come to TX!  73 now only 59 in the morning and no frost yet.  Sounds like a good dinner you had.

I invited a date but she either didn't get my message or doesn't trust my cooking, so I ate alone.
should have listened to you and Johnny.

LOL she does not know what an opportunity she missed!   It gets down below freezing here some, occasionally in the teens even, between late December and late February but does not usually last more than a few days at a time.

And now I'm heading to the last game of the weekend.  Baby girl is cheering for her team in the playoffs.  I bet it will wind up being the best game I see all week.  :)

stay warm Tony.
Season over.  :(  We were out-coached today.  12-18 was the final score.
Was this soccer or football?
Football.  My daughter was cheerleading.  She was upset because she thought she'd get a Superbowl jacket this year, like her older sister.
