Ten years ago: A bipartisan report found that officials, blindsided by terrorists and beset by poor communications, were so slow to react on Sept. 11, 2001, that the last of four hijacked planes had crashed by the time Vice President Dick Cheney ordered hostile aircraft shot down. President George W. Bush disputed the Sept. 11 commission's finding that Saddam Hussein had no strong ties to al-Qaida. A sport utility vehicle packed with artillery shells slammed into a crowd waiting to volunteer for the Iraqi military, killing 35 people.

Twenty Five Years of Marriage
-------------------------

Married 25 years, I took a look at my wife one day and said, "Honey, 25 years ago, we had a cheap apartment, a cheap car, slept on a sofa bed and watched a 10 inch black and white TV, but I got to sleep every night with a hot 25 year old blonde.

Now, we have a nice house, nice car, big bed and plasma screen TV, but I'm sleeping with a 50 year old woman. It seems to me that you are not holding up your side of things."

My wife is a very reasonable woman. She told me to go out and find a hot 25 year old blonde, and she would make sure that I would once again be living in a cheap apartment, driving a cheap car, sleeping on a sofa bed.

There are actually a lot of pretty nice ones in South Texas mostly occupied by retired folks but many of them are not cheap.  Just don't want to get too close to the border. I know JR/Johnny has mentioned one near him.  I can watch for some as I travel around the state.  East TX now is another story more like your situation.  Got to avoid the big oil fields too.

She told me to go out and find a hot 25 year old blonde, and she would make sure that I would once again be living in a cheap apartment, driving a cheap car, sleeping on a sofa bed.

fitting. after only 7 or 8 my wife and I split up last night. not that nobody saw it coming.
Sorry to hear that Dean.
Hope it all works out for you Dean.
thanks. it will. this is my 3rd and hopefully last wife. thought it's not going to be easy starting over at 62 with a fixed income and another demanding ex.
Florida!

For all wondering, I would NOT buy the Opus X Lancero Destino al Siglo again for the money, not even close, after smoking it last night.  If you happen to stumble across the DaS Lancero and the DaS Super Belicoso, get the Super Beli...or just get a XxX.
However, the Crown Royal XO, finished in cognac barrels, was a great pairing with a cigar(50/50 mix with mexican coke on ice)

some posts this morning about Spec-Ops over at CI.  Nope, No, Nada - they are Black Ops the cousin from the other side of the blanket. Not sure whether they are not putting the Gurkha name on them to raise or diminish their esteem.  Just a thought- compare and contrast this effect vis. a vis. the Industrial Revolution.  send your comments to Tony.  He won't do anything with them, i just thought it would be nice to surprise him.

Mornin' Fellers! Lot's of workaference, as is normal for a Tuesday. Clients seem to gather themselves on Monday and then the wave hits me today. Just wanted to point out to all you bully banterers  ;) that Shaun is a 3 star member now. O' course they're yellow, but there's 3 of 'em. Moving up in the world. Uh oh, here it comes. Lurk mode. Have a good one guys.

For $100, i'd risk it.  Even if the unit goes out, passive humidity would be >$25 for that size with a great seal or >$100 and you get an oasis with multiple fans(slight overkill)

You are not supposed to chill or get the mexican coke wet, the cartels frown on that!
Last thing I need is my head rolled!
They'll just toss you in the lake. The cartel doesn't waste bullets on 2-stars. ;)

Yeah, that's why I felt comfortable ordering it.  Can't order from anywhere else because it'll arrive next week when I'm out of town.  I'm sure anything would be fine even sitting for a week but I'd rather not deal with that if it can be avoided.  Thanks for the heads up!  I've had a handful of the Wild Bunch series cigars from Eddie Ortega.  Most have been good-not-great.  Type of cigar I enjoyed but didn't feel the need to buy more of despite their limited nature.  The Fast Eddie really stood out to me.  As much as it pains me to say, Dan gave me the first one I had.

Well, I'll blame him for the screw up that just happened, then.  Got a call from someone at Cigar King, said he supposes his inventory is 'off' - only had 11 (singles) of the Fast Eddies left.  So he proposed sending 10-12 other assorted Wild Bunch sizes to make up for it, no extra charge on top of the $82.  Not crazy about how large some of them are but what the hell?  I'll give it a shot.  Said if I decide I don't like the looks of some of them when they arrive to call him and we can work it out further.

Ahh nuts, Dan's officially good for somthing

Well, I'll blame him for the screw up that just happened, then.  Got a call from someone at Cigar King, said he supposes his inventory is 'off' - only had 11 (singles) of the Fast Eddies left.  So he proposed sending 10-12 other assorted Wild Bunch sizes to make up for it, no extra charge on top of the $82.  Not crazy about how large some of them are but what the hell?  I'll give it a shot.  Said if I decide I don't like the looks of some of them when they arrive to call him and we can work it out further.

Fuckin' Dan!

Hola mi amigo!
¡Buenos dias, Tres Estrellas!

Thinking about the Intemperance BA XXI Envy, $112 free ship with a 4 cigar sampler and free POS lighter
You were thinking about that a month ago and couldn't perform.
This deal's a bit better, no?
They have the Ortega Fast Eddie also, $82.36/box free ship. I've never had one but I think Joe spoke well of them
Is the Fast Eddie the petite lancero?  If so then yes, I really enjoyed that one.  May grab a box.

Nope, no patience for these.  The Little Monsters were never discounted anywhere, nor were any of the regular release Monsters.  And even if they do show up cheaper, I'll just buy them then and unload this initial box at cost.

Fuckin' Dan!
Indeed.  Got an invite for what I'm sure will the 4th of July BBQ of the century at his place. Gonna have to keep an eye on the guest list before committing.  For now it's just his parents.  Also, you had the baby four months ago, we're all over it.  It's not 'new' any more.  It's officially now just this little thing that just screams and poops.

Had to counteract my positivity to restore order to the world.  Already screwed things up in Arizona.
I didn't understand the positivity seeing that it is Tuesday.
Momentary lapse of judgement....must have gotten laid last night....thinking still clouded.

I've only had Indian food a couple times, and both recently, and I really enjoyed it.  Couldn't tell ya what dish I had.  There was rice and chicken in it, wife brought it home from a restaurant, it was something she'd ordered.  Always stayed away because of the smell.

some of the curries can be off putting, but chicken Tika Masala, or Lamb Vindaloo, as well as Sag Paneer are rather good.  Can be spicy though.

Chicken masala sounds right.  It was incredibly spicy.  Both the wife and I enjoy incredibly spicy foods.  '10' on a scale of 1-10 when asked at a Thai restaurant.

I've had it for years, and just the one.  Not sure where I got it.   Bought it, gifted it, couldn't tell ya.  It's funny, when one random cigar seems to sit for years it almost becomes a game to see how long I can go without smoking it.

Time to start thinking about tonight's cigar... thinking either a Cubao toro (old band, still have yet to try it since Eddie Ortega took it for himself) and a Fuente 8-5-8 Sungrown are the two I'm deciding between at the moment.  Thoughts on either?
858 Sunny!
I'd have to agree.  I'm sure both are fine but I'm just in the mood for a Fuente today.  May even smoke a shark tonight.  I doubt it though.   :(

I've had it for years, and just the one.  Not sure where I got it.   Bought it, gifted it, couldn't tell ya.  It's funny, when one random cigar seems to sit for years it almost becomes a game to see how long I can go without smoking it.
I definitely have more yellow'd cellos in the humidor than not.

Absolutely.  Especially if they're buying.

My issue has more to do with time.  I'll smoke it if I've got it.  But I probably only average 1-2 smokes per week.  2014 has been the first year that I have purchased less cigars than I've smoked.  And maybe not even.

I get what you're saying, but I really don't feel like that.  I may not smoke an Opus X while cutting the grass, but on any given Friday or Saturday night (or whenever) where I've got nothing to worry about, nothing to get up early for the next day, whatever the reason - any cigar is fair game.  Only having one left is more motivation for me to smoke it than it is to keep it buried.

They're just cigars, they can be replaced.  Maybe not always that exact cigar, but there'll be something you can get that you'll enjoy just as much.

It's usually special smokes or ones where I go crazy and get 3+ boxes plus singles(Sharks, Tat Black CGs, GoF Serie Bs, etc).  I smoke down the singles and keep buying more, I'm weird...

I'm about one a day.  Sometimes just a small one in the afternoon or evening.  Sometimes multiple.  Sometimes none at all.  Shit happens, something else comes up, just can't always get one in.  I'm generally unwilling to stay up late and smoke since I'm up for the gym at 5am each morning.  Afternoon, Chip.

Agreed, Dave.  If you're not gonna smoke them, you'll save the most money by not buying them in the first place.  I don't really understand the people that do this with whiskey or wine or whatever else, either.  I get that different people collect different things - no wrong way to go about it - just not for me.  Just don't expect me to give a shit about your collection if you're not willing to smoke anything at any particular time.

That's where I am different from those.  I am more than willing to burn any stick in the humi, but I've been trying to knock out random singles and newer stuff constantly versus the ones I love that I get boxes of combined with not smoking enough.

Solution: smoke more, got it :)

I don't have an opinion.  Don't think I've ever had it.  A friend went to an event on Father's Day and bought a bottle.  Don't know what he paid for it but he was telling me that he might be starting up a new hobby.  I saw BevMo sells the 750 for $75.  Just curious to see what banter consensus was?

That's a good price, $20 less than Glenmo.  Agreed with Raz's post above...

What's the general consensus on Glenlivet 18?
I like it.  Doesn't seem terribly complex to me, but what's there has a nice taste and it's very smooth.
Thanks, Bret.  That's how it was described to me too.

Just had one last week and enjoyed it.  I get the impression it burns hot if you're smoking it too quickly, but that shouldn't be an issue for you.  Don't ask me about the nuances because I can't help you there.  I'd definitely smoke it again.

They all burn too hot if you're smoking them too quickly.  Just a matter of effort and I excel at not putting any of that forth.

Good morning, gents…drive by - holts.com High Noon special "House" Tat's…never tried 'em, can't recommend, but thought you might want to have a look…catch up later...
Tatuaje Verocu #9, are excellent cigars. I have not bought them in a year, but did send some out. DavidOy even liked them, and so did Will.
Good afternoon Ken!  Do they still make the Tat Verocu(that in the red tubo)?
No, or the black tubo. I am pretty sure. These are made about once a year for Holts. Very good cigar, IMO.

I actually liked it, and thought it did smoke to the price point I got it at.  I liked it better than the Ambos Mundos, and if I was going to buy more "budget Tats" that would be the one.

IMHO. No offense.  YMMV. Whateverrrrr.

Yes and no.  I know you know what I mean.  Some seem more susceptible to getting hot and tasting bitter.    Perhaps it was just a bit under filled?

Compared to it's price point against other cigars at a B&M, it's fine.  Can't get much for $5 these days in store, ya know?  Compared to $5 per stick online with bulk order discounts (i.e. getting cigars for $5 each that retail for $8+ in stores), not so much.  Just my opinion.

To be fair, though, it's a $3.70 cigar. $225 less 40 at Famous, $185/50 =  3.7.  How does it compare at that price?

I didn't really enjoy it, so I wouldn't pay any price going forward.  It's fun to find the lowest possible price with various coupons and whatnot but MSRP is the best comparison, IMO.  Not totally fair to say its $3.70 per cigar because you can't get just one for that price.

And I'd be more willing to call it a $3.70 cigar if you could order a five pack regularly on a sale site such as CigarMonster for that per stick price.  The fact that you have to buy 50 of 'em, well, not quite the same.  I would not want 50 of them.

Not as good as the EPC Core Short Run 2013's I got at $2.99.  But then, that was an extraordinary deal.  I paid $4@ for the Tattoos I got.  I'd buy 'em for $4.

Evening, KC.  Just finished up a Herrera Esteli.  Excellent burn all the way down, no wrapper issues, and excellent flavors.

Now for something of a smokedown stick.  Nica Libre Potencia Churchill, from March '12.  The would be "poor man's V."

Love those HEs.  Never cared for any of the Nica Libres at all.  Never thought the original was anything like a Padron, nor the Potencia even close to a V.  Just MHO.

Speaking of the "Libre" family...I do like the Cuba Libre One as a good value smoke. I see they are on clearance on CI with the hammerhead. Not crazy about the size or shape...but for a less than $2 cigar, smokes way better than the price point. IMFO...

KC, I don't think I have had one of the originals, so no comment there.

I also wouldn't call the Potencia close to a V, though it is presented as such.  I think it falls into the same category as the Undercrown, though.  The UC was supposed to be the same crop as the LP9s, but swapping in seco in place of ligero, viso in place of seco, and so on.  For the Potencia, they just the ligero content, use some less flavorful leaves/lower quality ones, and still give the general impression of what it is imitating (unlike the UC, which was entirely its own smoke, but that's another story).

Anywho, construction on the few Potencia's I've smoke has been excellent.  This one has almost no pepper/spice to speak of, just smooth, semi-sweet dark tobacco with cedar accents. No real defined flavors in there--some soft dark chocolate, slightly earthy, but not much.  Medium-ish.  Thin tasting after the HE.

Since you have to give them a gift, (most likely an envelope with a check in it), technically speaking, the Crown ain't free.  But you can break even!!!

Picked these up right after release....Doesn't have that classic black/white pepper up front at all.  But it's still there in the background.  Some black coffee/ all spice and a little rough around the edges at the start.  But really comes together into the second third with some black cherry on the retro.

5 Years ago Bastrop was a hick town but Austin is swallowing it now but 5 miles from Bastrop any direction but west and you are in the country.  Bastrop has all the stores and services you need.  Home Depot, Lowes and a Major Grocery store, couple of car dealers and a few restaurants.  Oh and hell they got a Buckee's now too!

I like mine!-----GK-----Take two "Snoopies" and two "Dolphins" and call me in the morning. Oh wait, make that 4 of each.  If you can remember what a phone is, after that, call me in a couple weeks.
KC, funny that we come from totally different parts of the Country, and I know what you mean. We are from the same generation, give or take a decade or so.

fuck no! But if you get shingles you can get medications within 48 hours to cut the duration of the outbreak. JMO, ask your doctor.

I have been thinking about talking to my doctor about it.  I've seen some pretty bad cases, that have lasted around 8 months.

Evening Gents! BD Denver has more MJ dispensaries than Starbucks. You can't drive through town without smelling the bud, even tooling through on the interstate.
