Marylou
-------------------------

A woman came up behind her husband while he was
enjoying his morning coffee and slapped him on the
back of the head.  "I found a piece of paper in your
pant pocket with the name 'Marylou' written on it,"
she said, furious.  "You had better have an
explanation."

"Calm down, honey," the man replied.  "Remember last
week when I was at the dog track? That was the name of
the dog I bet on."

The next morning, his wife snuck up on him and smacked
him again.

"What was that for?" he complained.

"Your dog called last night."

SHOOT 'EM ALL.
A few weeks ago, a guy walked into a local Quick Stop, pulled out his gun and told the clerk to give him all of their money.  Within seconds, a customer pulled out his gun and shot the robber in the leg, and then left.  The robber was caught and no one seemed to bother looking for the unknown customer who shot him.

I lost the total hearing in my right ear for the past 2 months.  The Ears, Nose, and Throat doctor said I have a fluid build up behind my ear and may need to have a tube inserted.  Fluid behind the ear sounded pretty serious  too me.  Half way through taking my medication (sort of a bronchial medication to dry things up), my wife fed me a bowl of very hot and spicy Romain noodles.  The soup was so spicy hot, that I broke out into a sweat.  Sweat was coming out of the top of my head, and my nose started running like crazy.  I told my wife, "your going to think I'm crazy, but I can taste this soup in my ear.  The tube behind your ear allows fluid (snot) to drain into your throat.  Not only was my nose running, but the soup caused the tube behind my ear to start draining.  I ate a few more bowls of soup the following days, and it helped to open up my ear.  A few days later I could hear normally again.  I told the doctor about the soup, and he said, "You better not lose the recipe for that soup..!"  It was basically just an off brand of very hot and spicy Romain Noodles.  I'm sure any hot food that is spicy enough to make you sweat, would work.  Anyway, I found that interesting.  :)

I bought a Dell all in One computer which is rather nice.  It doesn't take up hardly any room at all.  My wife's Toshiba laptop had a hard drive failure.  I bought a new hard drive for it, and followed Toshiba's instructions on installing the Windows 7 back up files.  Very simple and easy.  The only problem is, "the back up drivers are not signed, and Windows will not run unsigned drivers."  If I press F8 and select, "run without signed drivers," it' runs great, except it will not update Windows 7.  I checked on line and there must be a 1000 of complaints about Toshiba and their unsigned drivers.  Toshiba says, "go on our website and download the latest drivers, but their latest driver are not signed either."  So my question is, "how the hell did they get the drivers to work in the first place...?"

I'll have to check my notes, but I believe it was, "Hold F8 while booting, and select run without signed drivers."  That's for Windows 7.  If you select the run without signed driver, the computer runs perfect.  But on a normal boot up, the computer will not load it's drivers.  So, no wireless Wi-Fi, no Windows Updates, Video defaults to some ungodly setting. ugh..!

Lie-Clocks

A man died and went to heaven. As he stood in front of St. Peter at the Pearly Gates, he saw a huge wall of clocks behind him.

He asked, "What are all those clocks?"

St.Peter answered, "Those are Lie-Clocks. Everyone on Earth has a Lie-Clock. Every time you lie the hands on your clock will move."

"Oh," said the man, "whose clock is that?"

"That's Mother Teresa's. The hands have never moved, indicating that she never told a lie."

"Incredible," said the man. "And whose clock is that one?"

St. Peter responded, "That's Abraham Lincoln's clock. The hands have moved twice, telling us that Abe told only two lies in his entire life."

"Where's Tony's clock?" asked the man.

"Tony's clock is in Jesus' office. He's using it as a ceiling fan."

Mother Knows Best

John invited his mother over for dinner. During the course of the meal, his mother couldn't help but notice how John and his roommate Julie looked at each other. She had long been suspicious of a relationship between the two and this only made her more curious. By the end of the evening she was convinced there was more between them than met the eye. Reading his mom's thoughts, John volunteered, "I know what you must be thinking, but I assure you Julie and I are just roommates."
About a week later, Julie went to John saying, "Ever since your mother came to dinner, I've been unable to find the silver gravy ladle. You don't suppose she took it, do you?"

John said, "Well, I doubt it, but I'll email her just to be sure."

So he sat down and wrote: "Dear Mother, I'm not saying that you 'did' take the gravy ladle from my house, I'm not saying that you 'did not' take the gravy ladle but the fact remains that one has been missing ever since you were here for dinner. Love, John."

The next day, John received a response from his mother that read:

"Dear Son, I'm not saying that you 'do' sleep with Julie, and I'm not saying that you 'do not' sleep with Julie. But the fact remains that if she were sleeping in her own bed, she would have found the gravy ladle by now. Love, Mom."
Mother's advice

Mother to daughter advice:

Cook a man a fish and you feed him for a day.
But teach a man to fish and you get rid of him for the whole weekend.

I swear by a good Chinese Hot & Sour soup. over 19 years ago, UI had that as well as sushi with a lot of the wasabi cleared my nose & head. next day without soup I went to the hospital think i was having a heart attack, nope, it was a really bad case of pneumonia.  I'd had the heart attack in august, but shrugged it off, this was February.  yep Wasabi with sushi & hot & sour soup.  Oh BTW good morning.

Great morning to you, Flip.  I've got a new Gurkha with your name on it.  Remind me if you see me at the train station.
And to return his disk!

Good morning 'puter nerds.
Seems to be a lack of 'puter nerds, hence the issues. Morning, Mark.
We got um they just sleep late like all puter nerds, Raz, Tony, Flip, CG and a few others.   I can always loan you the ones we got here at the office but has to be a sunny day they don't work in the rain, of course they can't fix chit either.
i didn't sleep late today, in the office by 8am.  I am trying judiciously not to banter much, one of the big bosses spoke to my manager, "I see flip has two monitors, do you think he could use one for business?"

Speaking of active shooters, the director of my agency released the agency strategy for dealing with an active shooter: Run, Hide, Fight only if you have to.

Not a bad policy if you read it like I do. But he's a commie, so I don't think he meant "Hurry to good cover with your weapon drawn and don't engage the innocent."

Morning fellas. Thanks for the warm welcome.

Just a few short days ago I found out about this place. I promised I would stop by and say hello. Unfortunately, meetings, travel, and the (new) normal day-to-day responsibilities have kept me from posting, let alone working on JC. It is out of my hands, as I had to pass it off, along with many other things. But, I am still around and doing more than ever. I hope everybody is doing well, and it was great seeing a bunch of you at CIGARfest last week. Always a pleasure, and always something I look forward to.

So, over the weekend some friends and I were sampling some American whiskey from Seattle (Westland) and some Four Roses bourbon. Both were superb, and I was about to fish out a Nica Rustica to go with. But then one of my friends offered me a cigar from his shiny new "briefcase o' cigars." One of those "oh, no. How do I turn him down without hurting his feelings?" Moments. There was no way. The cigar was a Brocatus. Gak. Damn near ruined my afternoon.

Some serious confusion you had too, there is nothing  American in or about Seattle!
You're one to talk.  We can carry guns in government buildings.  We can open carry.  We can smoke marijuana.  And if you think Austin is weird, you should see our troll under the bridge in Fremont.  Can't get any more American than that.

Buen dia de la batalla de Puebla, muchachos. Cervezas y puros para todos.
si, going to have some sangritas this evening
Sangrita's or Sangria's?
I do enjoy me a nice sangrita, but it is usually accompanied by by a nice Reposado or Anejo Tequila.
mixture of Sangria and margaurita.

You should call that a "margaria" then because "sangrita" is already taken and very different.

Well we will soon be able to open carry, but we can open carry a BMG 50 or an AR now just not a pistoli, criminals can carry anywhere, the law has never interrupted dope smoking here, and we used to have Lesli but it died.  We have Dell but you have Microsoft and Starbucks so you are the commie leader!

It's definitely more widely available here in the winters.  They said that with their newest brewery opening late last year, they'd keep the more limited/seasonal stuff in regular production, including VaS, so we'll see.  Even here in the summer, a few shops always seem to have it because they just load up.  The lesser shops are out for a while.  I'm hoping it goes back to 2 for $10 at my favorite place.

True, but lighter, fruitier beers taste better in hot weather.  Fuller beers do taste better in the cooler temps.  I also enjoy, gimlets, margaritas, daiquiri's , gin and tonics and such in the summer, heartier whiskeys in the winter.

Not much I'd turn away in any season.  I tend toward colder drinks in warmer months and room temperature drinks in colder months.  Beers in the summer, whiskey in the winter.  Except when I feel like mixing it up.

True, but lighter, fruitier beers taste better in hot weather.  Fuller beers do taste better in the cooler temps.  I also enjoy, gimlets, margaritas, daiquiri's , gin and tonics and such in the summer, heartier whiskeys in the winter.
I agree, on every point.
Mostly +1

Not much I'd turn away in any season.  I tend toward colder drinks in warmer months and room temperature drinks in colder months.  Beers in the summer, whiskey in the winter.  Except when I feel like mixing it up.
Indeed.  And while I agree with Dave, I wouldn't necessarily say that something "tastes" better under some conditions over others.  To me, it's not that the taste changes, but that a certain thing can seem more appealing.  I drink margaritas or Negra Modelo when the warden and I make Mexican foods, regardless of season.  But a margarita is exponentially more appealing to me on a hot, muggy day than when there's snow on the ground.  When there's snow on the ground, I'm more likely to have a Negra Modelo.  Mint Juleps appeal more in spring, G&T's in summer.  Daiquiris in the afternoon, martinis after dark. Light-to-medium cigars in the morning, heavy cigars in the afternoon and evening.  Just all "seems" right, likely for no rational reason.

Welcome Steve, enjoy the insanity that is Cigar banter.  Now where is the link to buy
those cigarbanter hoodies I've heard so much about.....

Heck that is a lot of peppery cigar smoking where you live.   I figured you only liked anything AJ when it was below 25 degrees in San Diego. :)

si, going to have some sangritas this evening
Sangrita's or Sangria's?
I do enjoy me a nice sangrita, but it is usually accompanied by by a nice Reposado or Anejo Tequila.
mixture of Sangria and margaurita.
You should call that a "margaria" then because "sangrita" is already taken and very different.

Good morning Joe

Morning, Shaun.

OK, for next week... I would prefer Monday if it all possible.  I have class Tuesday night but can make it up the next day.  Not ideal but doable.  Willing to do it if Tuesday works better for all other parties.
Ok.  I will confirm the Monday plans and let you know!

Morning, all.  Happy Tuesday.
Morning Joe, thanks for sending the Marshmallow Stout, very tasty stuff. Will probably get to the Imperial Stout this weekend

No problem, glad you liked it.  Certainly an interesting beer.  I think you'll enjoy the Imperial Stout based on other stuff you like.  Toes the line of "too sweet" but doesn't quite get there.
Yeah I'm looking forward to trying it, back to not being able to get VaS out here now but hopefully will restock

I don't find myself shying away from it with the warmer weather like I thought I might, still would drink it all the time

I definitely do.  And I do most of my smoking and drinking at night, anyway, when it's cooler.  Never really bought in to the whole matching beers with seasons thing.  Drink what you want, when you want.

Seems like that would really make them go fast since Bombs seem to be quite popular these days on a worldwide basis.  And 10/$35 would be a real steal for those.

See you, Dave.  I was trying to catch up on the banter & saw that Steve R posted, had to respond.
I'm in the middle of moving and have little to no extra time, so I won't be on much.  Just great to see everyone at CFest.  Hope more find their way there next year.

If I win the lottery or get a new, high-paying job, I'll be there.

The way it's shaping up, it might be an un-Cigarfest fest, skipping the trick or treating and having a full day herf.  Have a year to worry about it, so we'll see.  Great to have everybody together.
