Saw her regular guy on Monday, he looked at her scan for about 4 seconds before saying the stones had to come out. As opposed to the other fuckstick who said they aren't causing her any pain and to deal with it. So she's scheduled to have a consult with the surgeon on the 9th, but she's hoping she can get in there earlier to get the ball rolling on getting them out, if he has a cancellation or something. Sounds like because of the size of one of the stones, they'll have to go through her back into her kidney to remove them. Thanks for asking.Morning Dave, how is the wife by the way?And that's what it will probably be, a dream. Morning, Scott.Good morning guys. Raz is short for Razgueado or Raz Gueado. Start with the understanding that I'm a guitar player. Now, think about any cheesy b-movie western that is set in - sorry, AzDave - a dusty Mexican border town. The musical accompaniment will feature a guitar, and you'll hear this rapid-strumming motif done by brushing the strings with each finger of the right hand in rapid succession. That strum is called a 'rasgueado'.Deja vu all fucking over again. I knew I shouldn't have explained why my name has only one T.That was my nickname through adolescence. It actually has nothing to do with Mexico or dusty border towns. It's a Flamenco guitar technique, which is to say, it's Gypsy (Romani) music. But, whatever. It's a rasgueado. When I got my first Internet account in 1989, I changed the s to a z and became Raz Gueado.

Hey there, Dave. I did order a Cuban Crafters "Perfect Cutter" the other day. Used one at the super store in Florida and really liked it. It's really like crossing a V cutter with a standard guillotine (in that you can't possibly cut "too much"), and it's not like I actually have trouble cutting a cigar, but I was surprised to see that it only cost $15. $13 on Amazon, haha. And it comes with a lifetime warranty, so there's that. Still need to send my Xikar XV in for sharpening...
Another three deal day at JR Cigar's DDA. Sheesh. Not that I'm looking to buy anything but still... always kinda looking to buy something. What's the deal?

Hey there, Dave. I did order a Cuban Crafters "Perfect Cutter" the other day. Used one at the super store in Florida and really liked it. cheap cigar order in: EO #21, Kitchen Sink Sampler, JdN Dream Team Sampler, EPC 2nds, and El Mejor Expresso. probably shouldn't have spent money I don't really have to spare but I'm down to my last cigar :-(Yowzah. You get that low and we may have to send a care package or something.

What's the deal with no deals? Who knows. Grapefruit Sculpin available for growler fills at Ballast Point, want to try that. I need to start leaving empty growlers in the car.

Yep, mine just seems like it's starting to pinch/pull on the caps a little instead of slicing right through. No questions asked so may as well just ship it off.

I've never stocked up on Cubans. I kept planning to, but then you or Dusty would point out this deal or that deal, or I'd lowball something on the Devil and it would win - and then there wasn't enough left in the budget to afford the box. So there was only the single tray in the humidor that had ten or so Cubans that were gifted from friends. FredBob's intro to iHavanas and their prices on ten-boxes got me stocking up. I can resist Cubans because they're "always there". And the sales are nice but they're not usually enough to make feel like I HAVE to pull the trigger on something, ya know? I tend to just keep my favorites well stocked, kinda tough to experiment/try new ones when you have to order a full box. That said, I really want to try those petite MC #2s.

Your limits include some friends online who like and respect you, and who sympathize with the situation. Some of those friends spend more on cigars (and Harley parts) than they probably should, and often enjoy the generosity of others.
Which is all to say...with all due respect, GFY. You don't get to deny your friends the opportunity to show kindness.

This is all tortuous logic, because I haven't had the RyJ or MC Petite #2 either. What odd logic we use when spending money.
I really like the Monte Petit Edmundo and the #4, both I would pick over the #2, but the #2 is good...I just like a little more bolder flavors(more "NC" like if you will).I have - the petit corona size in both, and one of the Bolivar Bellicosos Finos. The Partagas Shorts are ALWAYS "in stock" at my house, love those.
Tortuous logic indeed, especially when we get hung up on "just" $2. Adds up quick when you're talking per stick, over a full box of cigars, but for any one cigar it's a trivial amount of money. Like when we say something is good at $3 but not $3.50. Really? That 50¢ makes that much of a difference?
Just buy 'em all and go on a hiatus until the next great deal surfaces.

I'm sure Joe will chime in, but Grapefruit seems to be taking off in craft brews. The fact that Sculpin and imo, Lagunitas Little Sumpin have a nice amount of grapefruit/citrus flavor, some people just need it on the label... Oh this has grapefruit!?! I'll give it a try.

Well, yeah, but we do have to draw lines somewhere. A $2 increment in a bid on the devil might equate to $0.08-$0.10 per cigar, but I won't increment the bid just because it's the principle of the thing. It's the same with other things. On Saturday I took $80 with me to buy a motorcycle jack from a guy who was asking $90. On the way I decided I was interested at $60 but no higher. No good reason why. It would have been a fair price at $80. I just decided I wanted it at $60. I got it at $60. It becomes a question of what's trivial. I used to measure it in packs of cigarettes - a pack of smokes was about $8 (when I quit). So it was worth it to me to get $8 off something because that was a pack of smokes. Now, $10 is a Tat Black CG and an EPC Short Run 2013. Is that trivial? Maybe, maybe not.I have - the petit corona size in both, and one of the Bolivar Bellicosos Finos. Do you mean Prost perchance CB? I know, you're going phonetical.....The Beer Channel... Nope, the beerbanter! And we could have our very own song - The Beerbanter Polka! Woo hoo! Prosit!Oh it's one of those Projects, I've seen some of those but don't recall the grapefruit, I shall lookNever saw the Stone GrapefruitBTW Joe, you mentioned earlier they now make a grapefruit Sculpin? Already has a fair citrus fruit flavor, no?
I think it's already citrusy so I'm curious to try it. Might be brewery only, though, not sure if it'll be bottled. Stone makes a Grapefruit Slam IPA and I love it.

Far too much thought and reasoning put into that....my head hurts from reading it.Well, yeah, but we do have to draw lines somewhere. A box of ten of the Allones Superiores is tempting, but I'm suspicious that it won't be $2 per stick better than the Partagas. Both good choices...smoke any Bolivars or Ramon Allones?Either the RyJ Short Churchills or the MC Petite #2s. I'm resisting the urge to load up on all the Partagas I can get - I like Partagas, but I tell myself I really should explore some others. What are you going to buy Bret ? .Lack of temptation is good for me right now. I've bought more cigars in 2014 than in the previous 48 years of my life combined.Another three deal day at JR Cigar's DDA. Sheesh. Not that I'm looking to buy anything but still... always kinda looking to buy something. What's the deal?
What's the deal with no deals? Who knows. Grapefruit Sculpin available for growler fills at Ballast Point, want to try that. I need to start leaving empty growlers in the car.
Ah, who'm I kidding? Probably going to order more Cubans today. Didn't get to it yesterday.
This is all tortuous logic, because I haven't had the RyJ or MC Petite #2 either. What odd logic we use when spending money.
The Partagas Shorts are ALWAYS "in stock" at my house, love those.

Maybe I overthink it. But it's how I rationalize a lot of the cigars I buy. "Damn, I just spent $69 on a box of 10 SD#4s. Wait - I saved $30 on the motorcycle jack, so that's like getting the cigars for $39!"Well, yeah, but we do have to draw lines somewhere. Yeah, and then there's the rationalization to end all rationalizations. It's the Costco Principle. It goes like this: "I've got enough Cubans to last a year, I don't need 20 more. But they'll get smoked at some point. Might as well."Far too much thought and reasoning put into that....my head hurts from reading it.
Agreed with what Bret said (I think) and also what Dave said, haha. Like most things, what is and isn't trivial is subjective. Doesn't change my advice to just buy it all and sort it out later!

I drew a new doctor who found numerous typos in my history. previous doctor apparently didn't think it was important to let me know I've had cataracts since 2006 and they've been slowly getting worse, oh and I'm at the point that I need to throw my readers away and get real corrective lenses.......next year.
Got the charcoal fired up for some right out of the water fish and asparagus. Supposed to be a near hurricane 200 miles away but not a cloud in the sky and barely a light breeze.I wanted to smoke a cigar , but we have thunder storms here in Houston ! .

My fist one ever......had it in the humi lose to 3 years. Starting out ok, but not sure I get all the love this cigar gets.very well made, very smooth, after the first 1/2" the bitter finish has gone. Oily nutty smoke. It's getting better.
My fist one ever......had it in the humi lose to 3 years. Starting out ok, but not sure I get all the love this cigar gets.I think they're very good cigars...and I wouldn't pay the price they command. Which is to say I agree with you, I think. There are just too many superb cigars I can get for less than an Opus X, and the Opus X just wasn't so magical that I felt the price was justified.

For that price, a cigar would have to make me consider smoking it instead of having sex with the missus. Haven't found such a cigar yet. The Opus X wasn't it.
Amen.My fist one ever......had it in the humi lose to 3 years. Starting out ok, but not sure I get all the love this cigar gets.
Agreed.
I haven't had a bad Opus. Not all of them have had absolute perfect burns or anything like that, but they've all been very high quality cigars.
A few singles, at MSRP? Sure, why not. All the craziness that surrounds them and inflated prices and all that? Yeah, it can fuck off. And at that price point, you're basically dealing with any cigar you want. So Limited Editions Cubans or maybe Double Coronas for less per stick is the way I'd go if I really wanted to drop $10+ on each cigar.
Fortunately, I wasn't talking about having sex with your wife. :Dall my cigars are better than having sex with my wife. she was like a bank, lucky to get quarterly deposits. My fist one ever......had it in the humi lose to 3 years. As I recall, these had problems with the burn and draw for the bulb, but once they got passed that and were going, they had a strong ash and were fairly well rolled. For the rosado, at least. The Maduro never burned right.
And this one has the same lack of draw/smoke, though it is slowly burning.

And it opened up and is smoking very nicely now. Medium bodied, fairly strong core flavor. Syrupy/molasses type sweetness, a strong/focused cinnamon type spiciness, woody/nutty/light coffee? tobacco. No peppery notes, really. Despite the sweetness on the inhale, the end result is a more savory smoke due to the general spiciness.
Reminds me of the Partagas Spanish Rosado a bit.

Ha. Typical Oy humor. Not far from the truth here in DC area (with lots of lawyers). Friend's brother is a partner in a big time firm, said the other day that the job market is tight. He'll give a recently graduated lawyer a half hour to advise them on a course to take. I wanted to refer to him a smart hardworking woman who's been out two years and is temping doing document work.Afternoon all just returned from some boating in the marshes. Smoking anything good?Good evening Sly , it's great to see you ! .So do the Verdadero Organic, but it's non-spicy raisin. 8)As I recall, these had problems with the burn and draw for the bulb, but once they got passed that and were going, they had a strong ash and were fairly well rolled.
Raisin. That's what I couldn't place. This has a Raisin flavor to it. Spicy raisin. CB's fault.
What is this 'normal' of which you speak?Evening sly, how's the shnazola?Better thanks. Not quite normal. (The story of my life).

Oh, my lost post on the Exile was something like:Does it taste like a cigar?
Real classic seegar flavor. Medium bodied, pretty full flavored if not palate battering like so many of the smokes we usually enjoy. Slightly sweet tobacco, nice amount of general spiciness, decent mix of traditional core notes. No overpowering pepper or anything at any point, the retro is just medium spiciness, maybe some cedar. Fairly rich and savory, long finish.
Just a very satisfying everyday type classic smoke. It would be perfect for all day BBQ or handicapping, etc. Shame it just doesn't have slightly better construction. I still have a few of each wrapper left, so maybe I'll have the maduro during tomorrow's thunderstorm.

Any Grateful Dead story you can tell with any certainty likely didn't happen./// If you insist, this one was quite clear, except for the exact personnel. Jerry did not join us, but Phil Lesh, Bob Weir & others were there. I worked in the concert hall at my college where they played. (because of that I occasionally got invited to after parties.). They had enjoyed playing so much, had a break in the schedule and announced that would be back for the next couple days and would play for free, so they weren't in a hurry to break things down. I told them that there was a really cool lake behind the hall & would show them the way down there, if they were up for an adventure. I knew the pathways through the woods, had good night vision (full moon)(hence they named me the Pathfinder). I led them down the rabbit hole to the lakes edge and we sat down on the sandy edge & hung out. Some natural substances were burned, some conversation ensued. I pulled out my harmonica and played while the steam rose from moon shiny surface of the lake. We enjoyed some quiet, taking it all in user the overhanging trees. Then, I think they realized that they didn't know me from Adam & didn't know the way back. A solitary shaky voice spoke up and said. "Do you think we can go back now?" I think that smoky stuff had worn off. I walked them back, I think there was a sense of relief. There it is, no embellishment. Now that was a great story .

Sly, you need to get the post on the outside of the quote tags. CB must've slipped that one in there. I think the full box price was over $200, because they had hand painted boxes and such.
It is an Eiroa smoke, formerly made in the Wynwood Art Gallery thing in Miami. They moved production to his new factory in Tampa? I think. The whole idea was to do factory fresh smokes--so they'd roll them and ship them. It was aged tobacco, 4 or 5 years old, but supposed to get to you within 2 weeks of being rolled, so you could really experience the whole age range and how it changed the flavor.

My musicians stories mostly deal with members of heavy metal acts from the 80s.Cool story Will ! .
A bit of backstory:
Growing up, my friend's father was the sound man for Twisted Sister. He had a very cool house, lots of Eastern decor and crazy shit, not like everyone else's house. He also had a sound room with a sound system wired throughout every room (basement and attic, too). He was a very cool guy to us kids, too. No prohibitions on cursing, drinking, smoking, etc.
You'd think that would make his kid have bad behavior or something, but it didn't. His main rule was don't be an asshole and it worked. Free to do whatever it was you wanted as long as you weren't an asshole. We weren't getting hammered there in grade school or anything, but a safe place to drink beer and smoke in high school? Absolutely.
Apparently he was a very cool guy with the adults, too, because people would stop in whenever they were in town. I'd ride my bike over there with a 12 pack in my backpack and Eddie Ojeda and Dee Snider would be hanging out (or whoever it happened to be that day). Want to stay for steaks with the guitarists for Rob Halford's new band? We'll just throw another one on.
Very much every day life with semi-famous people hanging out for a few hours.

and the service charges were outrageousall my cigars are better than having sex with my wife. she was like a bank, lucky to get quarterly deposits. My fist one ever......had it in the humi lose to 3 years.
Brick House Maduro toro lit next, with a "Dark Seduction" ale. Good pairing.Damn. That sounds about perfect.

The beer is according to the chalkboard "semi-sweet chocolate with Hazelnut coffee. Refreshing." 6.0%Brick House Maduro toro lit next, with a "Dark Seduction" ale. Good pairing.Damn. That sounds about perfect.
Okay, finally got to my car. Ugly fuckin' traffic out there. Gotta drive home now. Fifteen more minutes.
Had a few of those myself - PSD. They were and are a good value. Big ol' smoke. Usually use the drawpoker on them. Got some of the Exile Wired somewhere.DAMN that was some lightening. You guys should have been here to see it. Maybe I should go for a quick round of golf.Be sure to shelter under a tree...
Evening, Mikeybreath. Burning an old Exile Perfection Rosado. Very nice classic seegar flavors, big old smoke. 3 relights (thanks for distracting the roller) so far, but hasn't horked up the flavor.
Evening dd.H.Upmann - Magnum 46 Box 50 US$ 351.00Evening Ken & Mikey ! . is that a good price ? .

Bad timing there, Ken. Cigar budget spent and no extra room. I just put in a ~170 order last week which would have been my half of the split. So it goes.
Maybe next month. Oy-dave might be up for a split, though.

Yes Bob, I can't criticize was way worse back when I drank a lot. Had a chip on my shoulder--for real! And, I hope you never took offense to my Police rants. I have a lot of emotions about almost every encounter that I have had with the police. Maybe I look guilty, or something? Who knows, but I was Pro-LE when I was young, because I believe in having a well trained police force. What I have seen down here for the last 25 years are wanna be warriors that could not join the military--or were too scared, and were probably abused at school(beat up)--they have a hard-on for everybody, and are not qualified to shine my shoes, much less carry a gun and have a badge!Irascible Johnny tonight!Johnny, did you read my post??Dumbass Hillbillys out here shooting off their fireworks,no rain in 2 weeks, very smart bunch of people I live around!Y'all prefer double dumb over me?
