Need to bring down the average age to something a little tolerable...  Morning FB & Dave

Kind of like "acquired knowledge is wasted on the elderly"

Well, it's time for me to make some coffee, and take my medications "I know the voices aren't real, but sometimes they have such great ideas!".
Take care, last day for a candle coupon, bought some candles to light instead, (actually make nice birthday & christmas gifts for the female bartenders at the post).

I remember reading a lot of negatives about the LX2s construction.  Which is typical of non-LT CAOs in my experience.

Afternoon, ate Mexican Food for lunch then a 2 hour siesta was required and completed.  Padilla 68 resting since 2009 is today's smoke down selection for the patio.  Lime sparkling water on the side.  Nice cool breeze out this afternoon.

Quick afternoon, everybody.  Nic. 5000 from Seamus, err, Famous.  Noteworthy in that it's not dissimilar from Brick House's maduro.  Figures since they're made by the same folks with similar components.  Not as smooth or as well constructed, but not too far off, either.

A million times at the old place on Westheimer and they actually had one in Austin for a long time but closed about 5 or 6 years ago, location was terrible. Loved their green salsa and beef fajitas Chihuahua style with bacon and cheese.  Great ninfaritas too.  Have not been to one in a long time though.  My favorite spot to hit in Houston now is Bayou City Seafood, Louisiana style place on Richmond.

The 8&11 and the short run at the Miami based Padilla factory?  Yes.  Once they moved to central America, consistency and construction went to shit.

This is a distinctive tasting smoke.  If I were to list the flavors, it wouldn't be far off from a large number of other Nic. puros.  Creamy coffee, nuts, white pepper, sharp cedar spice.  Some hints of dark fruit that remind me more of red wine than I usually get from cigars.  But it's balanced in such a way that it doesn't taste similar to a Pepin or AJ or Ernesto blended cigar and really, is fairly unique in the humidor.  Rich, roasted nuts/coffee flavors are in a some of the Don Kiki cigars I've smoked (and not in others), so maybe it's just a particular farm he uses.

Construction is typical Cuban Crafters.  Open draw, plenty of smoke, burn on the verge of being bad but then it manages to fix itself (and repeat).

I didn't see that happening.  I haven't bought anything from them in quite some time due to lack of good sales.  They do 2 box discounts now, like 10%, as well as send a coupon code if you leave things in your cart for a day or so (another 5%, I think), so if something good did pop up, you could do even better.  But not sending back a cutter?  That's some bullshit.

Will, I know it's a dumb reason. I get all the emails, and have been buying from them since '07. Seems everytime they have a sale, I am not in the market. Or it's some of the re-sell stuff. JR Salazar, and Vegas De Tabacalera Esteli were the only ones I would box purchase. They very rarely have the Vegas De Tabacalera Esteli. 5 or 6 years ago, a guy at the Miami shop told me that almost all of the boxes of those get bought up as soon as they are shipped to Florida. Kiki Berger makes them. Someone in Miami loves them to buy all of the boxes. It's probably too mild for me now. But, it sure did taste good when I used to get them!

Wow! I hope this cigar gets some taste going. Maybe my taste buds are way off today--medicines, and all. First third not much for me. Donna showed up about the time I fired it up. Maybe she killed my taste buds!
thats a shame, I found it to be a Flor de las Antillas dipped in cocoa. You should have a few more new sticks to try tomorrow, I hope you enjoy one of them.
David, the cigar is good. I'm just not getting much taste. I hope I'm not getting more sick! Thanks a million--love to try new stuff. I'm just about half way, and I'll see what it has in store. It's probably me.
you pulling the old "it's not you, it's me" deal. ;)

well, maybe it was the cigar. New development is that now it taste great going into the last third. Warden just went to bed too--from her lady-whore trip to NO. Anyway, the poor girl is tired! But she ruined my cigar! Now it is tasting good!

David, who knows. We tend to like a lot of the same cigars. It does taste good now. I was not getting much of anything in the first half--no offense, YMMV, IMHO, Taste is subjective, but thanks very much for the cigar! Now GFY!

Thanks again. I'm saving the Upmann for a special occasion. Maybe. Probably smoke it after I go back to work. Been feeling better, so will need to go to work soon!

good to hear your doing better. I've been off sugar this month and lost over 5 lbs. I'm feeling better and focusing on being positive, so I should be liking more and more cigars.

I occasionally eat sweet stuff, but have been off sugar for over 6 months. So, in a weeks time I have so little that if I want a piece of German chocolate cake I'll eat it. I eat very little fat, but still weigh 225!

I believe you do have me beat.  I've been tired allot lately, and since drinking makes me relaxed and tired, I've sort of naturally slowed up on the drinking.  3 fingers of scotch tonight and 1 beer at lunch. I don't even think that qualifies as drinking...?  Pussy is starting to be a problem too.  I need to get my wife to do something silly to jump start my libido again...!

Fred-Bob, you have to try many, and have a Dr. know what it is doing to you. I avoided BP meds for this reason--because I thought if my dick don't work, then fuck-it! I have some what changed that view, but anyway, I tried several, and have actually been able to reduced the dose on both of them. I may be able to quit one of them very soon, because my blood pressure is actually getting low. You have to talk with the dr. he won't know unless you tell him.

Fred-Bob, that is awesome! Then. I have cut my drinking to almost nothing. I have not been feeling good, due to the BP meds had mine too low. Now I'm feeling better. I did drink 2 good beers tonight, and I used to drink 30. So, I saw the somewhat blurry writing on the wall and stopped that!
