Happy Friday!  Any deals on the various internet sites that are worth talking about?  Join in this discussion and perhaps learn something along the way. Warning: don't proceed if you have thin skin but don't be afraid to post either...  And welcome aboard!

Hope the Mayor don't flip and Dave can still think the Cavs have yet to play game one.
Sorry. We all eventually have to face reality.

Ok quick question
How can AJ have so many blends? Are they really that different from blend to blend or just slightly tweaked?

Stopped by Tinderbox yesterday. They always get new selection. They have 2 new blends with packaging like Camacho's bright yellow and purple. I bought the vault green  which I see nothing on net yet.

He's good at what he does, at least to my taste. And I think he varies it up nicely. You can always taste the spiciness or pepper that is pretty common to his blends, but other than that, a good variety, IMFO.

The witchdoktor was very good had a similar spice reminiscent to the old dog blends with some coffee, Coco, chocolate like notes.

According to a Fortune article:
Every year, the first Friday of June marks the celebration of this most wonderful of pastries. Started in 1938 by The Salvation Army, National Doughnut Day started as a fundraiser to help the needy and to honor the women who served doughnuts to the soldiers during World War I. Today, it’s a great excuse to find some free food – and wear your loose pants.

Today in History

Today is Friday, June 3, the 155th day of 2016. There are 211 days left in the year.

Today's Highlight in History:

On June 3, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed the National Defense Act of 1916, which, among other things, created the Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC).

On this date:

In 1808, Confederate President Jefferson Davis was born in Christian County, Kentucky.

In 1888, the poem "Casey at the Bat" by Ernest Lawrence Thayer was first published in the San Francisco Daily Examiner.

In 1924, author Franz Kafka, 40, died near Vienna.

In 1937, Edward, The Duke of Windsor, who had abdicated the British throne, married Wallis Warfield Simpson in a private ceremony in Monts, France.

In 1948, the 200-inch reflecting Hale Telescope at the Palomar Mountain Observatory in California was dedicated.

In 1955, convicted murderer Barbara Graham, 31, was executed in the gas chamber at San Quentin State Prison in California, as were Jack Santo and Emmett Perkins, for the 1953 slaying of Mabel Monahan.

In 1963, Pope John XXIII died at age 81; he was succeeded by Pope Paul VI.

In 1965, astronaut Edward H. White became the first American to "walk" in space during the flight of Gemini 4.

In 1972, Sally J. Priesand was ordained as America's first female rabbi at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, Ohio.

In 1983, Gordon Kahl, a militant tax protester wanted in the slayings of two U.S. marshals in North Dakota, was killed in a gun battle with law-enforcement officials near Smithville, Arkansas.

In 1989, Iran's spiritual leader, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, died. Chinese army troops began their sweep of Beijing to crush student-led pro-democracy demonstrations. SkyDome (now called Rogers Centre) opened in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

In 1992, Democratic presidential candidate Bill Clinton appeared on "The Arsenio Hall Show," where he played "Heartbreak Hotel" on the saxophone.

Ten years ago: Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, attending a security conference in Singapore, branded Iran the world's leading terrorist nation yet hoped that Tehran would seriously consider incentives from the West in exchange for suspending suspect nuclear activities. Gunmen attacked a car belonging to the Russian Embassy in Baghdad, killing one diplomat and kidnapping four employees who were later slain.

Five years ago: Former Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards admitted he had "done wrong" and hurt others but strongly denied breaking the law after federal prosecutors charged him with using $925,000 in under-the-table campaign contributions to hide his mistress and baby during his 2008 White House run. (After a 2012 trial in North Carolina, jurors acquitted Edwards on one count of accepting illegal campaign contributions and deadlocked on five other counts; prosecutors decided against retrying the case.) Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh was wounded when rebel rockets barraged his palace; he later went to Saudi Arabia for treatment. Physician-assisted suicide advocate Dr. Jack Kevorkian died at a Michigan hospital at 83. Actor James Arness (TV: "Gunsmoke"), 88, died in Brentwood, California.

One year ago: The Pentagon disclosed that it had inadvertently shipped possibly live anthrax to at least 51 laboratories across the U.S. and in three foreign countries over the previous decade, but said that public health was not at risk.

I disagree, our games are always exciting, just not always for our team. Like the Monday night game I was at last year, where we had a furious comeback, and ended up with a field goal try to win, only to have it blocked and returned for the winning TD. Very exciting stuff.  ;D

Lets make it a toofer!

Crimes of the week.

Stoned man calls cops on dog that 'shot' him in butt: We suppose many different kinds of injuries inflicted upon one's fleshy backside can feel like a gunshot — especially if that someone is stoned out of his mind and possibly suffering from pot-induced paranoia. That's apparently what happened to a man last week in Groesbeck, Texas, who called the cops after he said someone shot him in the buttocks. What really happened involves some marijuana, a dog, and Mother Nature.

Taking it to the FDA round one (well, if you don't count the TexDave approach)

Enrique Sánchez Icaza, CEO and Founder of Global Premium Cigars (GPC), has filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against the Food & Drug Administration (FDA). At at high level, the suit alleges the FDA’s recently announced deeming rules are cost-prohibitive for GPC, a small business known for its 1502 line of cigars. “When I joined this beautiful industry, I promised myself that I would do whatever was necessary to make the cigar industry better, and leave a legacy for my kids to carry on in life,” said Icaza in an email released yesterday. “Today, that dream is in jeopardy due to the FDA’s deeming regulations, and I feel I have the obligation to protect our industry, lifestyle, consumers, clients, friends, and our family from these terrible threats. It’s time for action! Talking belongs in the past… In the few next days, we will be giving you more information in how you can support, and help us with the tools to fight with strength.” GPC’s lawsuit is likely the first of many to be brought by a cigar maker against the FDA. The suit alleges the FDA’s actions violate the Regulatory Flexibility Act, designed to protect small businesses from over-burdensome regulations, and the Administrative Procedure Act, which sets standards that agencies engaged in rule-making must follow, as well as the First and Fifth Amendments of the U.S. Constitution. The suit has been assigned to Judge Darrin P. Gayles, an Obama nominee.

Ok quick question
How can AJ have so many blends? Are they really that different from blend to blend or just slightly tweaked?
I generally group AJ blends into three categories.  1) Blends he did for others when he was starting out....this includes various RP and Gurkha, and the lines from CI that we know like Diesel and MOW.  2) Lines he does for himself, with generally high quality tobacco, like San Lotano, New World, Enclave, and 3) "generic cigars" with the newer lines sold to CI and the like as well as local cigar houses (like I think the ones you describe might be).  These use the leftover or lower grade tobacco that he has grown for his private lines.  Decent tobacco, why waste it?

Stopped by Tinderbox yesterday. They always get new selection. They have 2 new blends with packaging like Camacho's bright yellow and purple. I bought the vault green  which I see nothing on net yet.
In looking around, I came across what I think are the cigars you are describing.  They are Torano, not AJ Fernandez, and are discussed on Halfwheel:

Boxing great Muhammad Ali is hospitalized in the Phoenix area with what two people familiar with his condition say may be more serious problems than his previous hospital stays.

The people told The Associated Press on Thursday that Ali is fighting respiratory issues that are complicated by the Parkinson's that he was diagnosed with in the 1980s. The two spoke separately in describing Ali's condition that they say is concerning to family members.

He is 74 years old.

Yawn....what kind of lull are we into now?  Watching paint on a door dry lull?
Applying stain to the door lull now, last lull was the stripping and sanding the door lull.
Sounds like they are making quick progress.
I am pleased with their work so far.

Old lock set finish looked like chit so had to go to Lowes and drop another $150 on that.

Next item on the list is replacing 2 fogged up double pane Windows, Fuk'n things always give troubles.    Last place (Mexican operation) took 3 months to give me a price, hate to think how long it would take them to do it.  Called a highly recommended guy this afternoon and he can have me a price Monday and for it next week, now if his price is decent we are on go.
