Now here is a real surprise  ::)

From Halfwheel

General Cigar Raising Prices, Cites FDA

General Cigar Co. has informed retailers of an impending price increase set to take effect Oct. 3, 2016. The company, which is one of the largest premium cigar companies in the world, has explicitly said this increase is due to regulatory compliance costs as a result of the U.S. Food & Drug Administration’s (FDA) new regulations of premium cigars. “Given the recent FDA regulations, it is necessary to raise prices to offset a portion of the increased regulatory costs and compliance expenses,” said Regis Broersma, ceo of General Cigar Co., in a letter to retailers. Most of the company’s cigars will increase in price ranging from 10-80 cents per cigar with a small number of lines, mostly those introduced at this year’s IPCPR Convention & Trade Show, avoiding a price increase. For Macanudo, most cigars will increase 20-30 cents—with some lower and higher—and Gold Label and Mao not increasing in price. Curiously, there doesn’t seem to be much of a pattern to this increase, only that the increases are roughly in line with the cost of the product, i.e. cigars that cost $3.50 are not seeing 60 cent price increases while $15 cigars are only raised 10 cents.

In reality it might be because of the huge drug crime problem surrounding the area.  Now the better use of tax dollars would be to rid the city of all that crap down there.

4-6 square block area around those fuk'n shelters have the highest crime rate in Austin.

Charlotte, NC

Protests erupt after fatal shooting by police; 12 officers injured

dozen police officers were injured Tuesday night in clashes with several hundred people protesting an officer-involved fatal shooting in the University City area.

Shouting protesters continued to block streets well after midnight, despite the use of tear gas by police in riot gear.

The protest began on Old Concord Road at Bonnie Lane, where a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer fatally shot a man in the parking lot of a University City apartment complex Tuesday afternoon.

The man who died was identified late Tuesday as Keith Lamont Scott, 43, and the officer who fired the fatal shot was CMPD Officer Brentley Vinson, a police statement said. Both men were African-American, a police source confirmed.

Seems the "unarmed" black man had both PCP and a Gun in his car (family said he did not have a gun but they were not in the car either) was shot by a BLAC COP!

Nicotine could protect brain from aging, disease

BRYAN, TX (KTRK) --
While smoking tobacco is known to be bad for your health, new research suggests nicotine may protect your brain from aging.

Texas A&M researchers say a new study even suggests when nicotine is given independently from tobacco, it could protect people from Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease.

Dr. Ursula Winzer-Serhan, associate professor at Texas A&M College of Medicine, says she and other collaborators found nicotine's ability to suppress the appetite may have something to do with its possible protective effects.

Daughter said he had no gun, was reading a book and waiting to pick up his son from school.  Guess BLM folks will be adding book props to their protest to go along with the fictional hands up don't shoot narrative.
