Good night, gents.  Just a little weather update:  Wind has kicked up quite a bit here.  But it should all be gone by the time I wake up in the a.m.  Couldn't have planned it any better.

Scruffy
-------------------------

After eight days of backpacking with my wife,
we were looking pretty scruffy. One morning
she came to breakfast in a baseball cap, her
shoulder length hair sticking out at odd angles.

"Darling," she said, "does my hair make me
look like a water buffalo?"

I thought for a moment, then said, "If I tell you
the truth, do you promise not to charge?"

Car shopping?  There has to be a story there so get you some coffee and lay it on us.

seems like the Jeep is on her last legs. every time I turn around I'm putting $500+ into it. I know I can afford that in a payment book again, and struggle with health insurance.
found a 2010 Chevy Silverado Work Truck with 9,700 miles on it at a Chevy dealer. problem is they want $21k for it. nice, like new truck, but $21k? come on. $15-$17 maybe. lucky if I get anything for the Jeep.

Clean pickup trucks are the most sought after vehicles in America and bring stupid prices and SUV's are right behind them.  With a limited budget you would do far better shopping for a mid sized vehicle that you can tow the trailer with if you need to haul something.  Just my 2 cents worth.

Futures are down about 125, oil is slightly down and Gold is up so I would say opening down -100 or so then God and Obama only know what will happen after that.  Probably some profit taking early though.

Exactly, they are wrong far more than weathermen, yet get away with it.  Always have the definitive answer as to why the day happened afterwards though, even though they may use the same reason for it to be up one day and down the next.

Erika is still moving fast at 17 mph so good for Tony but future track has moved west so bad for Dean even though it is now forecast to remain a tropical storm over Florida so good for Dean.
Late last night I saw some waves in the bay caused by the wind.  They're mostly gone now.  Good morning again, gents.
So you're telling us you were farting in the pool again?
With the water being so warm the bubbles make it feel like a Jacuzzi.
Except for all the screaming people running away.

Morning, muchachos.

Twelve hours from now I get a weekend. Sort of. Have to play three gigs. But I won't be in the office and I'll earn cigar money.

When are you going shopping for the rum and cigars?
Today's the day!  I'm heading into town shortly.  Any rum suggestions?  Does Cruzan make an añejo?

Cruzan Single Barrel.
Just took some rum talk to bring him out of the woodwork. Morning, KC.

Back in 1972 I got fifths of Cruzan Dark (long before 1 liter and 750 ml bottles) for $0.35 at the Pueblo Supermarket in St. Thomas. Same bottle was $1.00 at A.H. Riise.  But A.H. Riise did have ambience being in that old pirate warehouse.

Yep, remember it being about $2.50 at some tourist trap we hit before leaving.  bought 10 fifths, we each brought back 5 duty free. gave a few out, then realized it was hard to get here and saved the rest.  drank the last one around 10 yrs ago I think.

Just sat down for lunch at the catfish parlor, yum!
Regular or cajun?  Slaw and hushpuppies?
Never order anything that has the word Cajun attached to the description.  Just regular catfish, hush puppies and fries, no slaw for me.  Manager there is from Louisiana went to high school with him, great guy but the father son duo that own it are total dipsticks.

The Last Gentleman Small Batch Reserve.

beginning as an Entire Porter and left to mature for sixty days under the mellowing effects of bourbon-infused oak, the velvety Last Gentleman is gallant, sophisticated, and rebellious — as if he were the reckoning between all good teachings, wanton desire, and the rising and setting of the sun.
