Title: 3/10/2015
Post by: CigarBanter on March 10, 2015, 12:00:03 AM
I'm expecting big things from you today so don't let me down!  After all, it's Tuesday.  In between insults we'll occasionally discuss cigars.  Join in and perhaps learn something along the way.  Be warned, post on this site and you will catch hell from members and trolls alike.  Therefore, don't proceed if you have thin skin.  If you can accept all that, light a cigar, pour a beverage and welcome aboard!

Pregnant
-------------------------

A mother took her daughter to the doctor and asked him to give her an examination to determine the cause of the daughter's swollen abdomen.

It only took the doctor about 2 seconds to say, "Gimme a break, lady! Your daughter is pregnant!"

The mother turn red with fury, and she argued with the doctor that *her* daughter was a good girl, and would *never* compromise her reputation by having sex with a boy.

The doctor faced the window and silently watched the horizon.

The mother became enraged and screamed, "Quit looking out the window! Aren't you paying attention to me?"

"Yes, of course I am paying attention, ma'am. It's just that the last time this happened, a star appeared in the east, and three wise men came.

I was hoping they'd show up again, and help me figure out who got your daughter pregnant!"

Bruces's Twisted History https://www.facebook.com/brucestwistedhistory1/posts/506948329446144?fref=nf
For Mar 10:
In 1804 - Louisiana Purchase: In St. Louis, Missouri, a formal ceremony is conducted to transfer ownership of the Louisiana Territory from France to the United States. ~ Actually might have been unconstitutional as the Constitution does not allow for the acquiring of territory.
In 1876 - Alexander Graham Bell makes the first successful telephone call by saying "Mr. Watson, come here, I want to see you." ~ No, it was NOT a telemarketing call.

Bruces's Twisted History https://www.facebook.com/brucestwistedhistory1/posts/506948329446144?fref=nf
For Mar 10:

In 1969 - In Memphis, Tennessee, James Earl Ray pleads guilty to
assassinating Martin Luther King Jr. He later unsuccessfully attempts
to retract his plea. ~ On his birthday no less.

In 2006 - The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter arrives at Mars. ~ Would
have been much bigger news if it had arrived at Jupiter.

Notable Birthdays:
In 1850 - Spencer Gore, English tennis player and cricketer (d. 1906) ~ Little known
(if at all) fact is that Spencer felt that the high speed of the tennis ball was creating
too much warmth on the tennis court and could lead to melting of the ice cap at the
North Pole. And Al Gore thought he was being original.

In 1910 - Sonny Werblin, American businessman (d. 1991) ~ As New York Jets
owner, he signed Joe Nameth to his original contract. I (Bruce, not me)actually
attended horse races with him once.Extremely personable man.

In 1928 - James Earl Ray, American assassin of Martin Luther King, Jr. (d. 1998)

In 1940 - Chuck Norris, American actor and martial artist

In 1958 - Sharon Stone, American actress and producer

Not so far, thankfully. Pretty good amount of melting yesterday, probably take at least today and tomorrow to finish the job, though. Lower lying areas may be in for a rough couple of days.

Morning patrons! Foggy as hell here.  Something we haven't seen here since... Have yourselves a JFI Tuesday!
Morning Dave, now cram it up your cram hole!
Aaaaahhh... I love how Tuesdays bring out the best in you, Scott, but today you seem a bit off your game. That's all you got???
I'm not gonna lie.  I'm pretty proud of Scott.  Keeping up the tradition almost single handedly.  (TWSS)  He made me laugh more than once today.

Morning Chip, Dave, Dave, Dean, Bean, PW Flip, KC and Mr. Mayor.
Good morning, CADave.  What's your schedule like after the 21st?
After next week, out here the rest of the month and most of April as well.  May be able to make adjustments to April schedule with sufficient notice.

I think CG has confused unemployment with retirement and is living the Deanway.  Can't even show his azz up by 8:00 now days.
I have him a taste of Tuesday yesterday and might have scared him off.

Except for "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel",  and POtC, if the movie was made after 1976, I haven't seen it.  Just had a mama manatee and her baby in the canal.  Dragged the hose out to give mama some fresh water, quartered a head of fresh lettuce, and she gobbled it right up.  Took Jackie and Ralphie out to see them, it was the highlight of their day.  Mine too.  Oh well, off to wash the truck.

It's ok, just waiting on call-backs and the like.  How are you doin?
My estate money arrived, which paid for about two-thirds of my recent Glock purchase. I don't know whether to complain because the amount was low or be delighted because I could actually buy some cigars.

I guess that means I really can't complain, but it's Tuesday, so I will.

Let me start with some pleasantries...  Good morning.  How are you feeling, Bret.  Perry much all healed up now?
Good morning, Mr. Mayor. I usually feel with my fingers and there is nothing pretty about me.
I fucked that up and didn't notice the autocorrect changed pretty to perry, but apparently neither did you.  So now GFY.

I am getting old, and technology is getting faster and cheaper...

that makes it special, Italian, ancient Rome, they had conquered the known world, while some peoples ancestors where running around naked, eating berries, and painting themselves blue.  Then again in WW II they could not beat the Ethiopians who had spears, and they had machine guns and tanks...  OK were special.

Flip-----Eventually though, the Italians did beat the Ethiopians, and Haile Selassie had to seek exile in Geneva.  The Romans did build the very first real road, the Via Appia in 312 BC, and it's still in better shape than I-95 in S FL.

Can...you mean it was the aerosol foam?  That explains it.  Aerosol foams make for lousy shaves and they run out quickly.  Use the sapone and a badger brush like a real man and the stuff lasts for a year, maybe more.

Got to go to the barbershop bbl.
Sure, rub it in, why don't you.
You should go with me they have a good shine man there and he could polish your top to a mirror shine. ;D
Seems like a long way to go for a shave.  Especially when I can do it myself for cheaper.  (TWSS)
with that special Italian Shaving soap, what brand was it again?
Ya gotta ask Raz, I forget.  Plus, I ran out.
Proraso.
Yes, thank you.
And you ran out?  Since your trip to Italy?  Jayzus, that stuff lasts forever...you shaving 3 times a day or what?
I'm Italian, which means I have to shave thrice a day.  Plus I would say I did pretty well considering it wasn't a new can and I've been back from Italy since July.
Can...you mean it was the aerosol foam?  That explains it.  Aerosol foams make for lousy shaves and they run out quickly.  Use the sapone and a badger brush like a real man and the stuff lasts for a year, maybe more.
And there are some shaving creams that come in jars and/or tubes that beat the chit of any soap too.
Took me over a year to get through a tube of Proraso.  Now using the jar, and I expect that will take longer.

Aerosol foams and cartridge razors are a commie plot to get otherwise sensible, masculine men to pay as much for shaving supplies as women invest in makeup for no reason than to save 2-3 minutes of work with a brush in the morning.  And two generations of men just assume that shaving is supposed to be painful.

Headed out to pick up some Taquitos!
I'll take two.  And a Mexican Coke.  Pick me up a Powerball ticket, too.
just one ticket, - the winning ticket, that is all.
Maybe Mongolian grill today, or sushi, not sure... Damn, got a 1pm Statement of Work review with Hitachi/Sepaton.
no lunch for me until 2pm...
Doing Mongolian grill for lunch Thursday. Can't wait, love that place.
put a light jacket on to walk around corner to mongolian grill. went past a hot buffet area that the place downstairs seemed to be hiding, no sign, "hey we now have hot food" for a fixed $9.95 for the big covered plate loaded some rice with lentils, grilled veggies, then 5 pieces of beef swarma, and 3 big portions of lemon smoked chicken. enough food for tomorrow too!

I use the brush & mug bit, but a five blade razor( refills were on sale for $3.99 a five pack, bought six and the 2 new razors (one for the basement, one for the 2nd floor) just got a new badger brush on amazon 12.99.
I use a Parker safety razor with Personna blades. The blades cost about $13/100. I change the blade every week.

I dunno. Night sights definitely. I've been ambivalent about lasers and dots. They don't exactly go well with carry pistols, and everything I do is focused on that. The cost of lasers and dot sights are nearly the cost of another gun, and I always seem to err on the side of buying another gun. So...we'll see.

Nope. With properly applied Proraso the glide strip is unnecessary. As for conforming to the contours of the face, that's called "skill."

It is shameful, though, that I've had the gun almost a week and haven't sent any lead downrange.  Too many things going on past two weeks.  It was tough enough to get the time to buy the gun.  Hopefully get out to burn some rounds on Saturday morning.

And the Dolphins signed Ndamukong Suh for $114 million for 6 years.  Stephen Ross might be the richest of the NFL owners, but he is absolutely, postively, the least knowledgeable when it comes to football personnel, be it players or coaches.  The Fins still won't make the play-offs.

Commies have retreated, for the time being anyway.

Praise the Lord...and pass the ammo.
