Tired Dog
-------------------------

An old, tired-looking dog wandered into the yard. I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home.

He followed me into the house, down the hall, and fell asleep on the couch. An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out. The next day he was back, resumed his position on the couch and slept for an hour. This continued for several weeks. Curious, I pinned a note to his collar: "Every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap."

The next day he arrived with a different note pinned to his collar: "He lives in a home with four children -- he's trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?"

Actually we have had a milder than normal summer as 105+ is very normal in July & August.  Heat is not our issue problem is dry.  Lake Travis the largest body of water is down 55.4 feet and falling rapidly.

I am guessing the officer will walk, too much doubt with the other side of the story coming out...but hopefully the autopsy bullet-holes will paint a picture and get as close to the real story as possible.
On one hand I can see both sides(from hearsay): The officer was assaulted and his gun was almost stolen(and Brown probably would have killed him) and in a potential adrenaline rush he gunned Brown down.  The officer didn't NEED to shoot Brown when he was running away or when he supposedly turned around to "surrender".  But not a lot of people could stop their adrenaline at that point...but is it self defense?  How far does that defense go when the attacker is leaving the scene...can you chase them down and kill(execute) them?
The cop shot way to many times, that I won't disagree with, just the matter in how he shot him(when he was running away and then "potentially" surrendering) that is mildly disturbing.

Ferguson, MO is about 30 miles from me.  Has anyone been listening to the news about it...?
I was pretty up to date until about Tuesday, then I stopped paying close attention(aka: reading all of the live feed).  MWeber has been keeping me in the loop tho, he is temporarily living in Florissant, so he is loving his life right now.

Know right where Ferguson is had a project or two around there when I was working in MO.

Like everyone else but the cop I don't know the entire story and that just has to be put thru the legal system to play out as correct as possible hopefully.  But I must add that if you had a badly fractured eye socket it might be rather difficult to aim and/or count the shots.

Very hard to aim, and a defense to 'stop him from potentially harming others' sounds pretty good if I was a jury member.

73° here this morning but heading to 94° before the day ends, glad I will be in the casino all day instead of the mower.
I kind of miss mowing at camp, and all the other work that was needed. I hear it has gone to shit there without me.
Its a shame that you will finally have people notice the things you did every day only after you have left. Someone else's problem now brother, life is to short.
Isn't that always the case?

I was pretty up to date until about Tuesday, then I stopped paying close attention(aka: reading all of the live feed).  MWeber has been keeping me in the loop tho, he is temporarily living in Florissant, so he is loving his life right now.
I've been reading about it from the minute it happened, and the news information changes like crazy. There must be now 10 different stories of what had happened.
Not that I'm taking either side, but multiple shots are the norm for soldiers and police.  It ain't TV.  When they do finally pull the trigger, the average is 4 shots.  This ain't TV OSOK.

Rumor is, they are throwing in a sample of JIF and a travel size dawn(blue color)...hope the rumors are true!

On a funny note, it's cheaper to get 25 singes, $20 less than a box...so that's what I did.  Hope they just send them in the box and realize they are idiots.

Bill Clinton Now Enjoys $1,000 Cigars

Bill Clinton enjoys a Gurkha cigar, "the Rolls Royce of the cigar industry." He "loves the Gurkhas," Gurkha chief executive officer Kaizad Hansotia, maker of the HMR cigar, which stands for His Majesty's Reserve. It is, according to Hansotia, "the world's most expensive cigar."

One box is $25,000 -- and the price will rise next year to $30,000. "The cigars are close to $1,000 each," says the cigar boss.

My ranking of the Little Monsters from best to worst, without having the Mummy, is: Drac>Wolfie>Frank>Face
I plan on doing the same in October, we'll compare notes.
Sounds good bud! I will probably smoke through the first box of Pudgy monsters this fall as well

Guess I'm gonna have to wait for CI to put these up at a 99% discount before I can try... hope I can wait that long.  ::)

You could mix this (http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/132/107055/?ba=Phelps)  with this (http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/132/87728/).
Ummmm....that may have exceeded my interest.  We'll save it for FB.

Hope everyone is happy we have finally driven the banter to Cigars! ;D
sorry, let's get back to peanut butter/jelly/coconut/raspberry beer.
Got a personal invite back to Karl Strauss for Cask Tapping tonight....Toasted Coconut Wreck Alley Imperial Stout....I'll be there!

Friend of mine is very excited about that!!  They also have a chocolate PB porter but I don't like it as much as any of the others I've had.

I wasn't as in to the craft beer scene last fall (or summer, for that matter) to know who did and didn't put out seasonal offerings like that, but I gotta think that people will experiment this time around since it's absolutely exploded recently. Stone's been cranking out the one-offs recently.  Ballast Point experiments quite a bit.  My only 'beef' with BP these days is that all their limited, experimental type stuff is usually only served by the glass at the brewery.  Stone will at least fill growlers with their random stuff.

I only have a 'direct' account now and not VIP, but my discounts are showing anywhere from $20-$25 off the regular price.  Bundle of 21 robustos are $77.95.

It's going well, I'm enjoying it despite the massive time suck it's become.  And since there's a specific goal with it it's much easier to WANT to spend the time on it, as opposed to the bullshit undergrad stuff where I just wanted to get it done with minimal effort.  I'm most amazed at how 'respected' a master's degree has become, whereas the undergrad degree is just assumed.

What's more amazing is how we can find the time for it if we try hard enough.  If I could just get my current company to foot the bill for it, I think the deal would be sealed.

That, too.  Lots of late nights for me these past few months but it's been worth it and it's very rewarding.  It's been a little tough since it's a total career/field change but I'm enjoying it.  Had the first day of the internship yesterday and even the attitude toward the finance people was funny.  On one hand, "we" are a necessary evil.  On the other, be nice to us since it's our decisions that can make your life miserable.  Looking forward to doing some 'real world' work in the field... unless all gov't jobs are just trainings and lunch breaks.

Ah, forgot he was on vacation this week.  I liked his plan of everyone chipping in in advance for all the booze.  Didn't like the unique drink recipe each day since that'd require effort.  Liked that the 'bid' on the leftover booze to bring back home.

A little complicated, but otherwise you are always at the mercy of a couple of moochers.  Cooking is the same thing...unless you assign cooking days, the same people do all the work and the same one sit around drinking and complaining about when dinner will be ready.

Never been big on the big family or big group vacation.  One or two people always get stuck with the bulk of the logistics, give up much of their vacation and get nothing but complaining in return from all the armchair QB's...

Would be nice if I could've gotten any of that from my current employer but it'd be quite obvious that I'd leave as soon as I got a job after graduating.  Gotta keep the whole thing on the down-low at work.  Just adds to the stress of it all, haha.  Whatever... all be over in a year or so.  Not much time at all in the grand scheme of things, only makes me wish I would've done it a few years ago instead.

I hear ya.  It's very political around here.  My colleague just finished his MBA and the company wouldn't pay for it because our previous manager (one of the many) is a dick and wouldn't approve it.  Other managers would have had no problem doing so.  As far as, "I should have done this years ago", I have to stop thinking that way.  We can only control what goes on going forward.

s of Aug. 1, the retail and distribution operation is now at least four separate companies, a move that is expected to leverage some tax benefits, while also bringing the retailer closer to how its biggest competitor, JR Cigars/Santa Clara, is run. Products will now be purchased by Meier & Dutch, which in turn will sell the cigars and other items to its end consumer operations which include physical retail operations in Pennsylvania, four different online storefronts and a physical mail-in catalog.

“The long-rumored CI superstore project for Texas has been put on hold (until the) second half of 2015 once the offering is complete,” said a high-ranking official at another cigar manufacturer. The restructuring of the company’s business is said to create a situation in which Cigars International would be able to open up business in other states without putting its nexus in Pennsylvania, a state without a cigar tax, in jeopardy.

Despite the restructuring of Cigars International and the public offering of the larger ST Group, a sale of Cigars International is highly unlikely.

That would fuk me and the others in TX because we would have to start paying sales tax so fuk them if they open here.  TX does have a very low cigar tax but average 8.75% sales tax.

With all the proposed anti-tobacco legislation these days, seems like investing in a 'cigar company' is as good a way to lose your money as there is, if you're in to that sort of thing.  One of those things where I'd like to keep it strictly a hobby - buy, smoke, and enjoy good cigars and that's it.  I don't want to ever own a cigar shop or work at one.  I don't want to invest in cigar companies.  If anything, I see this move as a way to make some BIG money now, before any regulation slams them hard.

I purposely didn't load up my portable humidor because I knew I wouldn't have time for a smoke after work.  Why tempt myself?  But now I had a few minutes so I decided to hit my pipe tobacco stash.  Went with the Stanwell Vanilla.  Very nice.

Yes indeed, nice down here. Can swim and fish in the same general area without issue. In NJ they don't let you do that, can only fish in certain areas way away from designated swimming areas where lifeguards are on duty
