A Day at the Races
-------------------------

One day George was betting on the ponies nearly losing his shirt, when
he noticed a priest who had stepped out onto the track and blessed the
forehead of one of the horses lining up for the 4th race. Lo and behold,
this horse (a very long shot) won the race.

George was most interested to see what the priest did in the next race.
Sure enough, he watched the priest step out onto the track as the 5th
race horses lined up, and placed his blessing on the forehead of one of
the horses. George made a beeline for the window and placed a small bet
on the horse. Again, though another long shot, the horse won.

George collected his winnings and anxiously waited to see which horse
the priest bestowed his blessing on for the 6th race. The priest showed,
blessed a horse. George bet on it and won!

George was elated. As the day went on, the priest continued blessing
one of the horses and it always came in first. George began to pull in
some serious money and by the last race, he knew his wildest dreams were
going to come true. He made a quick stop at the bank and withdrew every
penny he owned, and awaited the priest's blessing that would tell him
which horse to place the bet on.

True to his pattern, the priest stepped out onto the track before the
last race and blessed the forehead, eyes, ears and hooves of one of the
horses. George placed his bet -- every cent he owned -- and watched the
horse come in last. George was dumbfounded!

He made his way to the track and when he found the priest, he demanded,
"What happened, Father? All day you blessed horses and they won. The
last race, you bless a horse and he loses. Now I've lost my life savings
thanks to you!"

The priest nodded wisely and said, "That's the problem with you
Protestants."

"You can't tell the difference between a simple blessing and the Last
Rites."

I have some TERRIBLE news. been trying to line up doctors in Florida. nobody there has heard of my health plan. called my provider and they said it's a Local Network HMO that doesn't cover me out of state except for emergency care. WTF. called the County Insurance rep and they said basically the same thing. called Personnel NYSDOT about a COBRA and I don't qualify for 1 - I retired in 2009, 2 - I have health insurance, it's just no good out of state, 3 - if I need health insurance I have to go through the Marketplace (OsamaCare). oh boy. it's NOT going to keep me from leaving as planned.

In that case you should be counting your lucky red stars that the Affordable Care Act exists.
have you seen the monthly payments, out of pocket expenses, and co-pays? nothing affordable about it.

I hear ya.  Insurance companies suck.  But before the Act you would be hard pressed to get anything with your pre-existing conditions.

Hey, Shaun. Liked the googledoc. Looks like your cost is getting real close to the finished product Joe linked to. Guess you don't get the fun of building and using all those cool, woodworking toys the other way though.

You need to give me an exploded view drawing... with all the piece measurements. That's how Norm (TOH) sends me all his plans. HA!

You don't have to listen to anybody, Dean. Including triple A. They'll probably just send you past all their approved vendors anyway... which hopefully you will not need.

Yeah it's about $700 with humidity and $550 without humidity...no shipping on anything.  The quality will be unreal, solid 3/4" hardwood, not plywood or particle board with a veneer over it.  Fucker will be HEAVY.  The tools will be fun to use, and with Mike there, the craftsmanship will be off the charts.

I can provide more prices, those are just estimates right now for the woods since I haven't placed the official order yet.  Tiger Maple is about $7.50/BF and Spanish Cedar is $7/BF plus shipping(can't get it locally for that price).  The glass I had priced out per piece, but since there were so many pieces the estimate is just the raw total.

The drawing on the doc is relatively to scale...the key being the 4" wood border.

Maybe I should rephrase all that.

If she wants to sue him, it will definitely qualify as sexual assault.  Seriously - that's a risk I wouldn't take under any circumstances.  She doesn't even have to press charges and he could find himself in jail.

So there's that.
As a wise man once said: Parents are worries about 2 things - what their sons download and what their daughters upload

I think that's rape, Shaun.
If she wants to sue him, it will definitely qualify as sexual assault.  Seriously - that's a risk I wouldn't take under any circumstances.  She doesn't even have to press charges and he could find himself in jail.
Who? What?  Me rape? Who? Still confused...
No, not you, the guy in the video pantsing the girl.  It wouldn't be rape, but if someone saw it happen and turned him in, it would be investigated as sexual assault.  Probably wouldn't lead to indictment, but would make for some uncomfortable and expensive hours getting interrogated and paying an attorney to sit with him.  Once upon a time, it was a joke.  Now...it's sexual assault.

Amen, times have changed...a lot!  I remember "pants-ing" kids back in the junior high days, wouldn't even get detention, just a firm 'don't do that again'

A fleeing Taliban, desperate for water, was plodding through the Afghan desert when he saw something far off in the distance. Hoping to find water, he hurried toward the oasis, only to find a little old Jewish man at a small stand, selling ties...

The Taliban asked, "Do you have water?"

The Jewish man replied, "I have no water. Would you like to buy a tie? They are only $25."

The Taliban shouted, "You Idiot! I do not need an over-priced tie.. I need water! I should kill you, but I must find water first!"

"OK," said the little old Jewish man, "It does not matter that you do not want to buy a tie and that you hate me. I will show you that I am bigger than that. If you continue over that hill to the east for about two miles, you will find a lovely restaurant. It has all the ice cold water you need. Shalom."

Cursing, the Taliban staggered away over the hill. Several hours later he staggered back, almost dead, and said: "Your brother won't let me in without a tie....."
