It's Tuesday again! In between insults we'll occasionally discuss cigars.  Join in and perhaps learn something along the way. Warning: don't proceed if you have thin skin but don't be afraid to post either... And welcome aboard!

Smoked another one off my short list earlier today - Four Kicks Black Belt Buckle by Crowned Heads. Didn't like it as much as the regular Four Kicks. It had a great aroma but it tasted like bitter coffee and burnt leather. Funny thing is that it was more bitter in the beginning and smoothed out as it got down to the nub. I wouldn't suggest it if you're a fast smoker or if you enjoy typical sweet maduro flavors. Then again, it only had a couple of weeks of downtime so it will probably improve with age. Construction was decent, only touched it up once.

How does the Black Belt compare to the regular Four Kicks?
Sorry, Mike. A lot going on at the home front this evening.

The regular Four Kicks is not a maduro. It's a nice medium bodied stick with cedar and nutty notes. Haven't had it in a while but that's what I can recall.

Today is Tuesday, March 7, the 66th day of 2017. There are 299 days left in the year.

Today's Highlight in History:

On March 7, 1967, the musical "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown," based on the "Peanuts" comic strips by Charles M. Schulz with Gary Burghoff in the title role, opened in New York's Greenwich Village, beginning an off-Broadway run of 1,597 performances.

On this date:

In 1793, during the French Revolutionary Wars, France declared war on Spain.

In 1850, in a three-hour speech to the U.S. Senate, Daniel Webster of Massachusetts endorsed the Compromise of 1850 as a means of preserving the Union.

In 1876, Alexander Graham Bell received a U.S. patent for his telephone.

In 1916, Bavarian Motor Works (BMW) had its beginnings in Munich, Germany, as an airplane engine manufacturer.

In 1926, the first successful trans-Atlantic radio-telephone conversations took place between New York and London.

In 1936, Adolf Hitler ordered his troops to march into the Rhineland, thereby breaking the Treaty of Versailles (vehr-SY') and the Locarno Pact.

In 1945, during World War II, U.S. forces crossed the Rhine at Remagen, Germany, using the damaged but still usable Ludendorff Bridge.

In 1955, the first TV production of the musical "Peter Pan" starring Mary Martin aired on NBC.

In 1965, a march by civil rights demonstrators was violently broken up at the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama, by state troopers and a sheriff's posse in what came to be known as "Bloody Sunday."

In 1975, the U.S. Senate revised its filibuster rule, allowing 60 senators to limit debate in most cases, instead of the previously required two-thirds of senators present.

In 1981, anti-government guerrillas in Colombia executed kidnapped American Bible translator Chester Bitterman, whom they'd accused of being a CIA agent.

In 1994, the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously ruled that a parody that pokes fun at an original work can be considered "fair use." (The ruling concerned a parody of the Roy Orbison song "Oh, Pretty Woman" by the rap group 2 Live Crew.)

Ten years ago: A sex offender was found guilty in Miami of kidnapping, raping and murdering 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford, who was buried alive. (John Evander Couey (KOO'-ee) was sentenced to death, but died of natural causes in Sept. 2009.) Ten people, most of them children, were killed in The Bronx, New York, when fire tore through their home. A suicide attacker blew himself up in a cafe northeast of Baghdad, killing 30 people.

Five years ago: President Barack Obama, speaking at a Daimler truck plant in Mount Holly, North Carolina, made his most urgent appeal to date for the nation to wean itself from oil, calling it a "fuel of the past" and demanding that the United States broaden its approach to energy. The Indianapolis Colts released injured quarterback Peyton Manning, who went on to play for the Denver Broncos.

One year ago: Peyton Manning announced his retirement after 18 seasons in the National Football League. A jury in Nashville, Tennessee, awarded sports reporter Erin Andrews $55 million in her lawsuit against a stalker who rented a hotel room next to hers and secretly recorded her, finding that the hotel companies and the stalker shared in the blame. Stephen Curry scored 41 points and became the first player in NBA history to make 300 3-pointers in a season as the Golden State Warriors held off the Orlando Magic 119-113 for their 45th straight home victory.

But that's just it....they aren't flavored cigars.....the packaging has nothing to do with the cigars, they aren't even banded.  PS, if I wanted a Dr Pepper flavored cigar, I'd just go to the Cuban Honeys Dr. Kocher for $2-3.

good morning guys. EPC 2nd and coffee before I get back to putting the kitchen in order. what a mess!
And that was just from the sex on the kitchen floor.
never done it on a kitchen floor. kitchen table, kitchen chair, kitchen sink, kitchen counter, yes.
Don't know that I would try it on that kitchen floor....looks like splinters would be a real possibility.
Least of your worries.

Gotcha. If I ever drop by to have a cup of coffee and a cigar, I should just remain standing.
I would've thought that rule would already be in effect at any Dean residence.

Well there goes the lyrics to the Sweetheart of Sigma Chi....
Verse 1
When the world goes wrong, as it's bound to do
And you've broken Dan Cupid's bow.
And you long for the girl you used to love
The maid of the long ago.
Why, light your pipe, bid sorrow avaunt
Blow the smoke from your altar of dreams
And wreathe the face of your dream girl there
The love that is just what it seems

The girl of my dreams is the sweetest girl
Of all the girls I know
Each sweet co-ed like a rainbow trail
Fades in the afterglow

The blue of her eye and the gold of her hair
Are a blend of the western sky
And the moonlight beams on the girl of my dreams
She's the sweetheart of Sigma Chi

Guess I shoulda expressed myself better.  What I meant to ask is it just a Four Kicks with a Maduro wrapper or have they changed the blend as well as the wrapper?

Another short list smoke was had today. Well, it was actually a revisit. Smoked a well aged 601 greenie. Still good.

Guess I shoulda expressed myself better.  What I meant to ask is it just a Four Kicks with a Maduro wrapper or have they changed the blend as well as the wrapper?
At the risk of pissing Scott off, I'll reply anyway...

From what I can tell, it's an entirely different blend. Or at least it tastes like that to me.
Scott can just GFH!

Nice, wonder how the 601 will do with AJ making them
That's a great question. Since I enjoy most of his stuff anyway, I'm hoping he'll be able to maintain 601's integrity.

Sugar Land is full of California yuppified generation X'ers, so no wonder they'd send a "republican" with those stripes.
Good to have you filling in for the boss.

Wonder what caused the fallout with Eddie and Erik was but when Pepin was making them they were great.

YMMV but AJ Fernandez keeps  cranking out numerous good blends.
