Spent some quality time at the range this afternoon, sighting in my new optic, and teaching the 12-year-old grandnephew how to safely handle a gun and shoot. He did exceptionally well, especially given that he's never held a gun. He knows the four fundamental rules verbatim, and now he knows how to safely check, clear, load, aim, fire and hit the target, trap the trigger and reset, and manage recoil. Then he had to come home and do a pop quiz, safely showing his aunt how to press-check and clear. The boy did good work.
