DICKENS COUNTY, Texas (KLBK/KXAN) — Three storm chasers, including two Weather Channel contractors, were killed in a crash near Lubbock Tuesday afternoon.

The two-vehicle crash happened around 3:30 p.m. on Farm to Market Road 2794 and County Road 419 near Spur, which is about 70 miles east of Lubbock. The location of the crash was either in or very close to an area under a tornado warning.

DPS says a black suburban carrying two storm chasers was going northbound on FM 1081 when the driver, identified as Kelley Gene Williamson, 57, of Cassville, Missouri, disregarded a stop sign and collided with a black Jeep, being driven by another storm chaser, Corbin Lee Jaeger, 25, of Peoria, Arizona.

Williamson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle, according to the Department of Public Safety. The passenger in the Suburban was identified as Randall Deland Yarnall, 55, also of Cassville. Yarnall and Jaegar were wearing a seat belt.

Quite a load of dope!

Port Everglades, FL (KTRK) -- The U.S. Coast Guard announced a massive anti-drug operation that lasted nearly a month and resulted in the seizure of 16 tons of cocaine.

The Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment (LEDET) team, comprised of Coast Guard and Canadian ships, seized the cocaine in a series of drug busts during a 26-day period. The drugs are worth an estimated $420 million.

The cocaine was seized from 17 ships operating in international waters along the coasts of Central and South America.

Officials said those coastal waters are known drug transit areas and therefore a number of agencies, including the U.S. Departments of Defense, Justice and Homeland Security, have stepped up to combat the problem.

The 16 tons of cocaine were offloaded at Port Everglades in Florida Tuesday morning.

Most of it comes from Mexico around here but East Texas has a lab under every pine tree.
