/// I had two cigars this evening.  The first was a 1807 Dunhill robusto (see stogie guys for a review).
Unusual how my buddy came into them.  A female friend was walking down a fairly busy street and saw them laying in the middle of the road.  Wondered what is this?  Picked them up, recognized them as a pack/mazo of cigars and gave them to my buddy, since she knew he liked cigars.  First time I ever had a roadkill cigar!  It was pretty good (not one I would go out of my way to buy, though).  The second was the Varina Farms WInter Warmer.
Good solid cigar IMO.  Heading to bed soon. Night all.

Ohio State University President Gordon Gee announced his retirement after he came under fire for joking about "those damn Catholics" at Notre Dame and poking fun at the academic quality of other schools. France said it had confirmed that nerve gas was used "multiple times in a localized way" in Syria. Joey Covington, 67, a former Jefferson Airplane drummer who co-wrote several of the group's songs, died in a car crash in Palm Springs, California.

Einstein's Speech
-------------------------

When Albert Einstein was making the rounds of the speaker's circuit, he usually found himself eagerly longing to get back to his laboratory work.
One night as they were driving to yet another dinner, Einstein mentioned to his chauffeur (a man who somewhat resembled Einstein in looks & manner) that he was tired of speechmaking.

"I have an idea, boss," his chauffeur said. "I've heard you give this speech so many times, I'll bet I could give it for you."

Einstein laughed loudly and said, "Why not? Let's do it!"

When they arrived at the dinner, Einstein donned the chauffeur's cap and jacket and sat in the back of the room. The chauffeur gave a beautiful rendition of Einstein's speech and even answered a few questions expertly.

Then a supremely pompous professor asked an extremely esoteric question about antimatter formation, digressing here and there to let everyone in the audience know that he was nobody's fool.

Without missing a beat, the chauffeur fixed the professor with a steely stare and said, "Sir, the answer to that question is so simple that I will let my chauffeur, who is sitting in the back, answer it for me."

Cannonfodder just posted over there, remarked how slow the banter was today. I'm not sure I should post Tony's site over there
He knows about it, he's a member here, too.
Alright, why do you have to have an attitude about it?

Well, I've got to hand it to you Tony. You've effectively hijacked the CI Banter and in the process proven that we're a bunch of mindless minions
Don't think the second part needed much proving.
And I wonder if they are monitoring the banter enough over there to notice that suddenly there's been a huge drop-off in posting.
I doubt it.  It shouldn't affect their sales.  THAT they would notice.

Personally, I think they'll be happy they can finally shut it down. All it's used for it to bitch about their deals, covertly (and sometimes not so covertly) send people to other sites and to talk about everything except cigars. They'll probably all fire up something special when they can finally turn it off. Haha.

A note about avvys:  I like that you can keep them turned off but then if there is a lot of chatter about a particular one, you can click on that person's moniker and see it without going through the trouble of turning them back on and off again.  But perhaps it's just me.

Sheesh!
Even the shiny new site isn't immune to the sheesh.
Well, since I can't drink coffee today, I will have a bottle of water with my first cigar. I appreciate whomever sent this cigar to me. I'm guessing Fred-Bob? Leccia Black:
You done with the testing you had to get done?
HaHa! Was just checking things out there, Tony. Site is very intuitive, and accomplishes what the "other site" could not.

Cigar Place Warehouse Wed deals - http://alturl.com/tbzu9
V #4's for $78.36/box
What code did you use? I tried seriev, but it only gave 20% off.
wc307
La Traviata Ninfas for $82/box of (50)

Looks like a great deal here... Although, I still haven't tried one yet... Could be a great 'go to' 30-40 min smoke for $1.64 ea. Hmmm.

What say you, Joe?
I mentioned it because I believe Joe is a fan of those
Quite a few of us love that little smoke. And that is a good price. I'll check the VIP pricing at Atlantic Cigars to compare.

Morning men.  Looks like it's safe to have avi's on again.
Hello Mark.  How's the weight loss going for you?  I've been like a yo-yo all year.

Still at 10 - 12 lbs over my low at the end of the contest.  I'll drop a few, then fall off the wagon, usually while traveling.  And now it's speedo season, too.  Sheesh!

Morning Steve

Hey, Scott. Haven't mentioned it this week, but I really liked the Namakubi. Some really nice, different flavors. Not as "full" as I was expecting, but very nice none-the-less. Liked the Roxxo size too.
Yeah the size is nice, I missed a clearance on those and still hope to see them again on a deal

Yes. He was the first to mention these to me, but I was hesitant over the vitola. Some of the small cigars can be just as good, but then again, some can burn too hot and really suck. =)

Got that same email, good deal......other than that, not much. I'm just not looking that hard right now. I would have hit those AF Anejo 46's yesterday tho, top of my list, if I were in a buying mood.

I really like the LT Ninfas, pretty big flavors from a tiny cigar.  Definitely a 'go to' quick smoke for me.

The one petite corona that jumps out at me as not being anywhere near as good as the larger vitolas is the Tatuaje Havana VI 'verocu' or whatever their 4x40(ish) is called in that size.

Funny story that I won't be able to make funny in words, 'had to be there', but GFYs...

We were at a birthday cookout at my sister-in-law's uncle's house a couple years back. He has money, nice house on the beach in La Jolla, heated pool on their deck.  They invited our kids and my nephews who were in town for a 'pool party' for my younger nephew.  I figured I wouldn't really want to go in the pool, and that I'd just want to hang with the adults.

Wrong.  As soon as I got there I wanted in, I love the water.  A couple other adults had brought their swimsuits, I was bitter that I hadn't.  Hey, no problem, says my "uncle" (for the sake of keeping it short, his relationship really doesn't matter), you can borrow one of mine.  Normally not a huge fan of that idea but whatever, who cares, I just want in the pool.

Well, my uncle is gay, and all his swimsuits were... small.  Called my wife in to ask what to do, because I couldn't just run back out there and say no thanks, your suits are "too gay" for me.  She just left, laughing hysterically.  I pounded the beer I was working on and said fuck it.

That's it, I'm just taking the separators out now after I put them in. I can't NOT do it.

Separation anxiety... There's no cure, just gotta take it one day at a time. ;)

Cigar Place Warehouse Wed deals - http://alturl.com/tbzu9
V #4's for $78.36/box
What code did you use? I tried seriev, but it only gave 20% off.
wc307
La Traviata Ninfas for $82/box of (50)

Looks like a great deal here... Although, I still haven't tried one yet... Could be a great 'go to' 30-40 min smoke for $1.64 ea. Hmmm.

What say you, Joe?
I mentioned it because I believe Joe is a fan of those

Yes. He was the first to mention these to me, but I was hesitant over the vitola. Some of the small cigars can be just as good, but then again, some can burn too hot and really suck. =)
Atlantic VIP $75
Oops! It won't go to price page unless you are logged into VIP. But, $75.49 sace of 50 La Traviata Ninfa. Probably be the same price after shipping cost is added.

Thanks, Ken. Probably just get em at the Place... Just need to suck it up and pay for the shipping. Maybe I'll give it a day or so to see if Joe's shipping option pops up. That way, for the couple extra bucks, I won't have to impose on anyone's VIP and redirect... Not to say anyone would. jk. Just easier.

I know that 'waiting' has worked in the past.  Can't guarantee if it will again or not.  I would think it would.  Their deals tend to stick around a long time, assuming they've still got the inventory.

I'll wait a couple days. I'm not burning through that much inventory. Just checked and there are 9 deals available. That will pretty much be the deciding factor, anyway.

I think just keeping it in the cart has been better. I just 'save' the stuff I'm not getting at that point until later. Then put it back into the cart after the purchase... Guess I was still pissed about the PF's and forgot.

THink it just varies from one item to another.  I've got a handful of "save for later" items still in stock.... Papas Fritas, SC Revelation, 2013 V Maduro...  but I usually add Papas Fritas there each time they show up.  Two of them are in stock.  Others are out of stock.  WTF?

Absolutely! I really like those sticks. Had a couple weird burners, but I'll put up with that for the flavor. Getting boxes/bundles is going to put a dent in the capacity though. That's why I was inquiring about the coolers yesterday... Stuff I already have if I need to put one together in a pinch.

Not me but I'm using a Rubbermaid storage container though, not proud of it but it works great. Since I hooked up with these guys my buying went through the roof. I went from 50 cigars to about 350 cigars in a year

I used a few of these before switching to a full size cabinet:  http://www.containerstore.com/shop/storage/totesTrunks?productId=10026213&N=71235.  Office Depot sells something very similar.  They've got a foam 'seal' under the lid to make them perfectly airtight.  Easy to 'expand' when you need it (and you WILL need it once you get bigger storage) since they're so cheap.  I still keep a smaller wineador for stuff since I'd had custom drawers made for it, but these storage bins worked great.

I'd put them in the basement if we had those in California. With the warden pregnant, I'm one step away from storing them outside, and me with them. Her nose is starting to hate me.

Oh, man, been there.  Found out she was pregnant a couple days after she almost threw up at the smell of my cigar smoke.  Never really bothered here before then.  I've shared the story of how I got my cabinet on the banter and I'll share it again (once), here.  We were cleaning the huge walk-in closet in the game/guest/whatever room before turning it in to a nursery for my daughter.  Had all sorts of tupperwares and wine fridges and humidors full of cigars all over the place.  Wife wanted them all in one place.   I said that's possible, but I'd need a bigger cabinet or something to do that.  "I don't care what it takes, put them in ONE place".  OK, but they're not chea... "JUST DO IT."  Pregnant brain.  One of the few times I 'won' anything in that 9 months of hell.  Cabinet ordered before she changed her mind 20 minutes later.  Showed up in a FedEx Freight truck.  WTF?????? What did you order??  "Remember that cabinet you OK'd??"

Sucker.

My 120 quart cooler was 50 bucks at Wal-Mart. Helps maintain temps too if you're having a problem with it like I am. Forced to put my sticks in the garage...
That's a goddamn shame, I'm in the basement, one step away from the garage

Sucker.
. Hahaha, the only way I'd get away with that is if it had an attached changing table. Congrats on making the dream come true.

Ahh, tough times for the male in the relationship. Not to minimize the wive's physical and emotional struggles but we have to put up with them and put up with a lot of shit during the whole process.

And what a let down those Tattoos are, IMO.  Need/want to revisit but the experience from the first doesn't have me excited to do so.

Payback being a truly 'bargain'/value (MSRP) offering?  What about the Illusione Rothchildes?

Yeah, there you go. Just saying/questioning the validity of the whole payback thing. Room 101 is good enough to pull it off though

Maduro, that 120qt is a nice cooler. I look at those marine giants every time I go to the Costco/BJ's/Sam's. Not for cigars though... my other "hobby". What can I say... Smoking makes me thirsty.

Mine went OoS about a week after the Jam....I've seen guys keep stuff in there a month or more.

I think just keeping it in the cart has been better. I just 'save' the stuff I'm not getting at that point until later. Then put it back into the cart after the purchase... Guess I was still pissed about the PF's and forgot.

Ah, Fuck me. So, I can't explain this... Your shopping cart is one 'area'. Your saved items are another 'area'... All in your cart, though. LOL!

Probably best to just let this one go, Steve.  I think we all 'get' what you're trying to say.  I don't think it matters where you store it.  If they're gonna pull the item, they're gonna pull it.  If it'll last, it'll last in the actual cart or 'saved for later'.

Or like you said, just buy it.

If someone else digs up the pics there, maybe I'll go through the trouble of resizing for this site.  Problem over there is stuff gets buried with the 10+ posts/pics a day, and it was a couple months ago that I did it.  And I didn't save the pics on my phone.

No problem. Don't want to cause 'a thing'. Just thought it would be neat to see. Going by what I've read, I'm sure it's a very expansive collection.

Thanks for all the info on the alternative humidors, guys. I already have a couple Coleman 48qt's, and a couple flip top playmate coolers, so that's why I was going that route. They also already blend into the background. ;)
Maduro, that 120qt is a nice cooler. I look at those marine giants every time I go to the Costco/BJ's/Sam's. Not for cigars though... my other "hobby". What can I say... Smoking makes me thirsty.
Ha, know what you mean about blending in.  Same deal with me when I had those storage containers.  I could easily move up to the next size without it being noticed.

You need to post a pic of your humidor (since the site allows) so we can all drool and wonder... one of these days.
I did on the Facebook group a while back.  I was cleaning/consolidating so just started snapping pics of everything as it came out.

That would be good if I did the FacySpace, but alas I don't... Scott, what's your wife's password again?
Here it is Steve: UCANBLOWME

I know. Cheap shot. And it's not even Tuesday, but the cart thing was getting to me. So, really it's your own fault.

I always get kick out of reviews for things like the V #4 or other thin RG smokes.  "I prefer larger RG smokes and stuff, but the really good construction and great flavors of the #4 won me over..."  You'd think after enough smaller RG smokes "winning" them over, they'd realize that they just smaller RG smokes.

Alas, people are dumb.  Oh well.

Agreed.  And the flip side of the spectrum when people continually bash larger ring gauges but smoke them all the time anyway, and everything is 'good for a larger RG'.  Just admit that ya like them and move along.  No right or wrong way, here.

People just get too stuck on 'value', which they view as most possible tobacco for their money, not the best tasting cigar for their money.

IMO.

No offense.

Additional lines because I can.  Like being able to make posts something other than one large wall of text.

May not be an even comparison. MOWPA is Habano/Ligero, and OOO is Corojo/Nicaraguan.

For the most part, I'd say I enjoy more habano than corojo. Personal preference only.
I'd definitely try the OOO, so no offense, Dean. They look like a good deal.

Ken, or Dave... what's the VIP price on the MF La Antiguedads?  Seeing a "direct" price of $100.95/box for the robustos.

http://www.atlanticcigar.com/cigars/My-Father-La-Antiguedad.asp?aff=5126
VIP price is $95.95 for the robusto but it is on backorder
Thanks Ken, Tom, and Dave.  Gonna stick with whatever this "direct" account is that they've given me over the VIP for the time being.  Still fairly large savings over regular price but not as good as VIP (in most cases).  Weird.

Hmm... never smoked them close in time to each other, to be honest. Little more 'oomph' from the MOWPA.  OOO is a heck of a value if you're willing to make a large purchase of them.

Steve, grab a 5ver off CI quick. if you don't like them I'll buy them off you.

I got some Gunniess and Sweetwater blue. Gonna layer it up like a black and tan.

Really good, imo. Not really a fan of the wheat's otherwise.

The SW Blue and Abita Purple haze. That's about it. Both fruit flavored. Go figure.

Only beer cold at home is some Port Brewing Mongo IPA.  Got some work ahead of me tonight so not sure if I'll get to it, might just go with whiskey!  Got a few beers here in the fridge at work but got too much to do between here and arriving at home that it'll get warm.  Need to load the fridge up for the weekend!  Bought a Firestone Union Jack IPA a little while at the grocery store.  I was there for something else but I couldn't help myself!

Yeah. It's only Wednesday, but I'll have an hour or so. Got my out for delivery from famous today. The NR's and a Tat sampler, so I'm sure I'll be lighting up tonight. I'd like to get some more of the La Riqueza's (really like those). They haven't mashed in quite awhile, and last time I looked at a box, there was only 1 left. But at +200, I wasn't buying. Way better @ the 22/5. Hopefully they come back around.

Almost everything comes back around at some point on Cigar Monster.  Don't give up hope!  As for beers... I really only drink them on weekends.  No real reason other than trying to limit myself on how much it I drink.  Speedo season and all...

Joe, I had the opposite thing happen the last couple of years. Atlantic would cancel my VIP without telling me, and then I would not be able to purchase it on-line, but would have to call. The first 2 years they just emailed me that it was about to expire, and included a link if I wanted to renew.

Weird.  They told me they "usually" just renew for the person as a courtesy. I'm sure I'll renew at some point but in principle I wasn't gonna let them do it for me.  No way.

Never mind, stupid question.

Wynwood Coneja fresh roll, it's just a solid smoke. Taste profile unlike most cigars I've had. Still can't put my finger on it, it's just good. Full body but refined and smooth. Oak with just a hint of pepper spice and an oil slick finish.

They're really not bad smokes.  Very much medium body, full flavor.  They had an insane MSRP, though the closeout price of $4/ea was pretty solid.

They just don't have that aggressive, heavy, palate battering type flavor that I use for full.  Maybe in the last third?  That's using the modern scale, though, where we have all these cigars with 75-100% ligero fillers that really are over the top.

In a traditional sense, yes, the Wynwood is full.

Doesn't mean it isn't a very good cigar.  Not a $15 cigar, or whatever it was their full price was.  But one of the best that Eiroa has put out.

Don't want to get the bends by rising too fast, then you start acting and talking crazy.
Besides, I've passed twenty-one, so now I can drink legally tonight.  My work is done for today.
The aroma of dinner is hitting my nose, baked potatoes and chicken breasts covered in Caribbean sauce.
Hope to get a good cigar in tonight with some $2 Rock Bottom beers on the patio.  Pretty hot here and no A/C
in rented condo.  Was shopping earlier for fans.  Can't put in a window A/C since it's on the first floor, no balcony, no patio, just right next to building front door.  Landlady coming back June 19-20 for 2-3 weeks and will get new A/C unit installed then ... Good For Her!

Ha.  I really went all out with the descriptions there, eh?  The expected thinner RG Boli profile--earthy, espresso, dark chocolate, moderate spice/pepper.  Nothing over the top heavy but full after the first half inch or so.  About 2 years of age on it, so not fully there yet, but damn good as already.  Perfect draw, burn, plenty of smoke, slow burn rate.  All the usual top notch construction I expect from the brand.

For a "short" go-to type smoke, it's really good.

I thought it was a really nice smoke overall.  Interesting as the taper went.  The first third was a bit blah compared to the final 2/3rds, but all in all, I'd smoke it again.  Wish he made a regular corona though, because that'd probably be better throughout.

Just lit, Will. Great from the first puff actually!

I didn't mean the HE, I mean't the EH!  Sheesh.  The Hoill Cultura.

I thought it was a really nice smoke overall.  Interesting as the taper went.  The first third was a bit blah compared to the final 2/3rds, but all in all, I'd smoke it again.  Wish he made a regular corona though, because that'd probably be better throughout.
Sorry, Will I would have read it wrong anyway! I bought 2 boxes, which is 20 cigars. Gave a few away. I really like 'em!

Indeed.  Maybe Tony can add an option for posts-per-page to look and layout for those of us who might like 30 or 50 posts per page, etc.  Not sure how much of an ass pain that would be.

Can't say I blame them, it is pretty gruesome what happens to the bull. Evenin gents
better than a packing plant. It's something to see.
Yeah! Bulls win,! The bulls win!!

Weren't all four (3?) toreros gored this just this last month, with the finals being cancelled?
All 3 got gored by the first 2 bulls.  There were 4 more bulls to fight but no bullfighters so they called it off.

Hi Ken, was able to smoke a toro in Willie Herrera's presence at last year's CF, about my 6th cigar of the day, and I could still enjoy it and tell it was a winner.  Saw him again this year and was able to remark on the quality of the stick & that it wasn't a surprise that it had taken off. Hope to see you there in 2015!!!

JR, DARcars are a huge family founded dealership conglomerate in this area ... just about every make.  Their last name is Darvish.  I think Turkish or Armenian.  I know a guy who manages a portion of the family fortune (Merrill-Lynch).  Says they are a great humble family ... patriarch started med school but dropped out to sell used cars.  His dad told him to work to own the company. So he did that & more.
