Nope.  Just a little break, new project, needed to get all the planning and signatory for that, then back on the road in September to roll it out.

Bottled Water, 1-2 gallons per day/person for you and each deadbeat you expect to have over in need!!!!  You can't have enough of that in any kind of emergency should it arise even though looks highly unlikely for this particular threat.  If they say evacuate then GTF out before things go to chit but take Bottled Water and some Snacks with you!

Edit - Oh Yeah Keep Your Gas Tank FULL all the time and does not hurt to keep a jerry can full if you have a safe place to store it.

I would rather see $100 oil!   Wardens company is going to reduce their United States Based work force by 15% over the next 6-9 months.  Largely taken care of by current vacancies not being filled, buyouts and scheduled retirements but you know how those deals end up.  Also seems like a large chunk of the 15% (350 or so people) will be taken out of the main U.S. office in Houston which has about 2/3 of the people.  She would gladly take a nice socialist buyout as she only plans to work 1-2 more years anyway.

All part of working in the oil fields, she has been at it for over 35 years and seen many a company come and go and many reductions in force and pay cuts too.  2 years ago it was bonus's of more than a years pay and today it is layoffs.

It's amazing the oil industry isn't more stable - I get that it's a commodity, but the amount of countries that produce it and their varying costs can make it an ugly industry.  Lots of jobless people out in western ND now too that want that $100/barrel too.

All part of working in the oil fields, she has been at it for over 35 years and seen many a company come and go and many reductions in force and pay cuts too.  2 years ago it was bonus's of more than a years pay and today it is layoffs.
Has it not been boom or bust for oil since it first bubbled up out of the ground?
And always will be just part of the business and those who work in it know that.
Fuggin commodity markets - glad I'm not in one anymore, hated the swings we would take in business all pending the price of corn/soybeans

Fucked up part is that my company is just as volatile with regard to jobs yet we're not at all affected (or minimally affected) by the market.  We're not a public company so it's not about our shareholders.  I think they just jump on the bandwagon and... Damn it, you made me think about work!

It's amazing the oil industry isn't more stable - I get that it's a commodity, but the amount of countries that produce it and their varying costs can make it an ugly industry.  Lots of jobless people out in western ND now too that want that $100/barrel too.
Warden is in Austin but works 100% on Bakken Resources and interestingly June was the largest Bakken Production month in history but drilling has slowed down to a crawl. 2 years ago her company was spudding 18 wells/month and now it is like 4 or 5 at most.  BAkken wells are rather short lived compared to conventional wells so they are seriously depleting the current resources without bringing new production online.    She works on the production resource side though which is currently very busy.  $100 oil and they will be begging to hire experienced people again.

Ohh wow, that's pretty cool she works with the Bakken stuff.  I just did a case study on a group out there and how they are finally getting some real efficiency with drilling and the extraction.  I guess this stuff they are pulling out is beyond nasty, barely considered crude with it's mineral content.

Shit, go smoke a cigar, drink a beer, lay the housemaid or something!  ;)

It is definitely far from Texas Sweet Crude!
I tasted that once. Dunno what clown thought it tasted sweet.

Not a bad gig for someone with a Physical Education Degree when the teachers are making under $50k in most areas.!

Across the Houston area, the average public high school head football coach makes $92,887, although some districts pay their coaches more than others.
Highest in the area is $132,000.

Austin is even higher than that.

It's not like prices at the pump have reduced in any correlation to the reduction in barrel prices.  Profits must be going somewhere.

Oil industry needs half a trillion dollars to endure price slump
If oil stays at about $40 a barrel, the shakeout could be profound.
It's not like prices at the pump have reduced in any correlation to the reduction in barrel prices.  Profits must be going somewhere.
Refiners are raking it in, but that calls for another Thanks O'bummer since they have not permitted a new refinery in this country in many many years because of all the nonsense regulations.
Do you blame Obama every time a bird shits on your car, too?
Yep
Sounds about right.
Whatever you need to say to keep your job is ok.
Lol, not sure what Obama has to do with auto insurance, but since when have Republicans needed facts to explain anything, amiright?
I think the DNC wrote a memo about that, but it got stuck on Hillary's private mail server.

The Commie City of Austin implemented a requirement several years ago that if you sell a house that is over 10 years old you have to get an approved Austin Energy Audit prior to closing.  Friend here is selling his mother's house built in 1956 and in addition to the basic tax info, etc here is what he got for the minimum cost "certified" audit of $300.

ENERGY AUDIT SUMMARY

Actions Recommended?   Yes

A. Windows and Shading
B. Attic Insulation
C. Air Infiltration  and Duct Sealing
D. Heating and Cooling System  Efficiency (HVAC)

Total Annual Savings:  $320

HOME IMPROVEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS:
Austin Energy recommends the following actions  based on the energy audit performed by of A-1 Energy Audits

A. Improving your windows and/or adding shading reduces  the heat that the Texas sun adds to your house.
B. Adding insulation to your attic can save you money. This will prevent your house from heating up rapidly during summer and cooling down quickly during winter.
C. Sealing or replacing the air conditioning duct-work can reduce your electric bill and make your home more comfortable. The duct system must be properly sized and in good condition or the heating and cooling system will run longer and cool less efficiently.
D. No heating and cooling system recommendations.

We appreciate your support of the ECAD ordinance  and your efforts to make Austin the most livable city in the country.

At 200 PM AST (1800 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Erika was
located near latitude 16.5 North, longitude 63.8 West.  Erika is
moving toward the west near 16 mph (26 km/h).  A turn toward the
west-northwest is forecast later today, and this general motion
should continue for the next 48 hours.  On the forecast track, the
center of Erika will move near the Virgin Islands later today,
move near or over Puerto Rico tonight, and move near or over the
Dominican Republic on Friday.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 45 mph (75 km/h) with
higher gusts.  Little change in strength is forecast during the next
48 hours.

The modern corporate world strikes again, warden said all but 4 people out of over 2000 have to re-apply for their jobs.  This will make her 3rd time doing that in 3.5 years with them, last time though she got a healthy raise with it.  I am sure you can guess what 4 those are as all their abbreviated titles begin with a C..... and end in an O.

IT people keep their jobs because of the real scarcity of technical expertise in the US. That's per Alan Greenspan. Anybody with the slightest ability to diagnose and fix a problem with hardware or software becomes a valuable commodity.

I have done it once before and was going to do it in an open MRI this time but my brother said to try it and see if I could do it because the image quality is usually much higher.  This one was a little better because I was only in for 25 minutes the first time and then back in for 10 minutes last time it was about 35 minutes straight and I was really close to pushing that button several times.  Also they put some headphones with radio on me and that helped a lot.   In there listening to that damn jackhammer noise is an issue too.  I did take 4 ibuprofens an hour before this time which I think helped.

In this most recent case they did report him, had the cops come take him out of the building........ guess that did not work but if we had background checks that would have stopped him, oh but they do have background checks and he did have one and that was not the answer either.  Well then we must just need to ban shooting people surely that would work......... well no that is already outlawed.   I just wonder if we had a well equipped and well organized a system to deal with the mentally insane would that help?  WTF knows that has never been considered since one must agree to being committed for more than a day.

And Walmart is discontinuing the sale of AR Rifles because there is just no demand for them.....
Saw that, so stupid - better go get mine now I guess.

Surrogate Bone Crushers up on the Jam - 5/$29.50 if interested
Weren't they $26ish on the MASH?
DONNO I never bought any myself.  Prices are all over the chart on things lately though.
They go for about $85/box on CBid, I would smoke them all day for that price, great cigar.
Maybe I should try some, never grabbed my attention.
They are my favorite of the surrogates line, followed by the Satin Glove
Honestly I have never tried any L'Atelier Cigars, no reason just never have.
The L'At Maduros are fantastic, the smaller vitolas really shine.  The regular L'At is ok, the SS is good but spicy.  The Racine is really good, box worthy IMO.  The Surrogates are all so different, you won't like them all...bone crusher and skull breaker are my top 2 with SB taking the cake.  Satin glove is good, just a big ass vitola and I usually stay away from churchies.  You should go smoke the La Mission and La Imperiosa...La Mission is fantastic, we got it in the S&S kit last year and I loved it.  The Imperiosa is the Las Calaveras 14, which is MONEY.

48 hours.
So far, so good here.  We got a passing shower over the last couple of hours but nothing that merited getting out of the water or running to seek shelter.

The Beauties aren't all that bad a smoke if you can get them to draw.  If I have a real beef with Gurkha, i have many more hard draws and canoes with their products than any other cigar manufacturers combined.  a few of their blends are quite good when you can smoke them.

The Beauties aren't all that bad a smoke if you can get them to draw.  If I have a real beef with Gurkha, i have many more hard draws and canoes with their products than any other cigar manufacturers combined.  a few of their blends are quite good when you can smoke them.

Canoes belong in the canal! lol

I hear their tactical gear is of very nice quality though... and sharp. That's what Golf said anyways.  ;) ;D

48 hours.
So far, so good here.  We got a passing shower over the last couple of hours but nothing that merited getting out of the water or running to seek shelter.

You would like the stuff on the left!
Possibly so but not the other two, will leave those for Bean he likes the near beer stuff.
I wouldn't be calling them near beers as Founders is 8.3% and Pumking is 8.6%.
Mowing the lawn tonight, then having an OFest and a Pumking, minimum...with a cigar, obviously.  THANKS OBAMA!

move near or over Puerto Rico tonight, and move near or over the
Dominican Republic on Friday.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 45 mph (75 km/h) with
higher gusts.  Little change in strength is forecast during the next
48 hours.
So far, so good here.  We got a passing shower over the last couple of hours but nothing that merited getting out of the water or running to seek shelter.
Good deal!!!!    Did you get any coffee filters or cigars yet?
Cigar filters?  I don't inhale.
Do you even smoke?   ;)

Evening boyz, AJ Enclave OTT. Just had to try it. I'll be danged if it ain't a nice little flavor bomb. Great draw and burn, looks to be well rolled and the ash holds on and has a nice white color. Lots of creamy smoke that coats the mouth. I got the robusto size with a V cut and it seems to be doing the trick for me. Not getting the typical pepper bomb crap I can't stand, it's smooth and has a clean finish. Flavors are nice rich tobacco a soft leather and I even got a hint of vanilla at the start. I'm sure that by the time I get to the first band, I'll hate it.

Great to know, thanks.  That one was recommended but so was another place called Island View Guesthouse which only serves dinner Thurs thru Sat.  We brought a bunch of food and have been divvying up the cooking duties but we'd like to go out to a good seafood place.  Is Mafolie that place?  We heard Mim's was good too.

40 years ago the menus there were hand painted on earthenware jugs.  I have one.  Twin tails were $10.50, Filet Mignon was $7.75.  Surf 'n Turf was $9.95.  Expensive for the times. And back then it was the Frigate Restaurant at the Mafolie Hotel.  Leave the kids home and enjoy yourselves.

Had the Las Calaveras 2015 last night, thought it was very good. Really nice balance and a medium cigar, if there was a critique I'd say it was a bit linear without much change but I enjoyed that. Excellent construction and burn, very good cigar where the 2014 was excellent IMO

First review I've seen.  Thanks, brother.
No, you just forgot about mine already.
Who are you?
Nobody for sure.
So just to be clear, you liked the Enclave too?

Evening boyz, AJ Enclave OTT. Just had to try it. I'll be danged if it ain't a nice little flavor bomb. Great draw and burn, looks to be well rolled and the ash holds on and has a nice white color. Lots of creamy smoke that coats the mouth. I got the robusto size with a V cut and it seems to be doing the trick for me. Evening boys, been a great trip so far. Good beach time with the kids, boogie boarding and skim boarding and body surfing. Just had shrimp scampi and now have a Balvenie on the rocks. Plenty of cigars this week and adult beverages, one more full day to go
Good to hear.  Glad you remembered cigars, Tony didn't.
Had the Las Calaveras 2015 last night, thought it was very good. Really nice balance and a medium cigar, if there was a critique I'd say it was a bit linear without much change but I enjoyed that. Excellent construction and burn, very good cigar where the 2014 was excellent IMO
have I got a deal for you!

But did you buy a car yet?  There's always time.
My wife knows the city bus driver that stops in at the pharmacy she works at, and he recommended we see Joe at the local Honda dealer.  Joe wasn't in today, but his friend let us test drive a Civic.  We may go back tomorrow and see Joe, and see what happens.  We really like the Civic (since it's in our price range and the Doge Challenger Hemi isn't).  So there's still time for us to be thrown out of a few more dealerships... :)

Ohhh, I don't care...  I'm sort of, "what you see is what ya get..."  My uncle used to take a test drive with the salesman and he would drive to the nearest bar.  Then he'd start buying drinks until they wrote the new car deal up on a paper bag.. :)
