Good Morning everyone. I have been busy working some crazy hours since the New Year. I hope you are all doing well. I hope those effected by the storm stay safe. I have been puffing quite a bit of pipe tobacco lately. It sucks wasting a full cigar when called away. Lanceros and coronas have been filling the gaps. Family is well. All the best....Rick. I'll try to not be a stranger.

Being 6 Again
-------------------------
A man asked his wife what she'd like for her
birthday. "I'd love to be six again," she replied.
On the morning of her birthday, he got her up
bright and early and off they went to a local
theme park. What a day! He put her on every ride
in the park: the Death Slide, the Screaming Loop,
the Wall of Fear, everything there was! Wow!
Five hours later she staggered out of the theme
park, her head reeling and her stomach upside
down. Right to a McDonald's they went, where
her husband ordered her a Happy Meal with extra
fries and a refreshing chocolate shake. Then
it was off to a movie, the latest Star Wars epic,
a hot dog, popcorn, soda, and M&Ms. What a fabulous
adventure!
Finally she wobbled home with her husband and
collapsed into bed. He leaned over and lovingly
asked, "Well, dear, what was it like being six
again?"
One eye opened. "You idiot, I meant my
dress size."
The moral of this story: Even when the man
is listening, he's still gonna get it wrong.

Time to hit the road for work, enjoy your day guys.

As I recently posted, coming to a state near you soon:
Bill Seeks to Triple New Jersey’s Cigar Tax
Cigar smokers in New Jersey could be facing a significant price hike at the register, as a bill introduced in both houses of the state legislature is seeking to triple the Garden State’s tobacco tax. A1815 and S284 seek to increase the tax on other tobacco products—which include cigars—from 30 percent of the wholesale price to 90 percent. The tax on moist snuff would also be tripled, though it is computed on a fixed rate, with the bill calling for an increase from 75 cents per ounce to $2.25. Additionally, the bill calls for a floor tax on tobacco products—excluding cigarettes—and moist snuff at the close of business on the last day of the first month following the date of enactment. That rate has not yet been written into the bill. The bills seek to bring the taxes levied on other tobacco products in line with that levied on cigarettes, which is currently $2.70 per pack. Money raised from the increase would go to the Department of Health’s “Smoking and Tobacco Use Cessation Fund,” which funds smoking and tobacco use cessation programs in the state. Should the proposal be approved, it would take effect immediately and apply to tobacco products and moist snuff sold.
Tobacco Tax Hike Proposed in Kentucky
Add Kentucky to the list of states with legislatures that will have to deal with a proposed tobacco tax increase, as three state representatives have introduced a bill that would raise the tax on other tobacco products from 15 to 18 percent of the wholesale price. Reps. David Watkins, D-11; Mary Lou Marzian, D-34; and Tom Burch, D-30, have introduced HB 247, which seeks to increase a number of aspects of the state’s tobacco tax structure. Premium cigars and other tobacco products (OTP) would see an increase from 15 to 18 percent, meaning that a cigar with an MSRP of $9.50 and that currently costs $10.93 would jump to $11.21. Additionally, a floor tax of 5 percent on the actual amount paid would be levied on all premium cigars in stock as of July 31, 2016. The bill also seeks an increase of 50 cents per pack on cigarettes, which would raise it to $1.06, as well as increases in chewing tobacco, snuff and other tobacco products. A floor tax would also be levied on cigarettes and other tobacco products. If approved, the tax increase would go into effect on Aug. 1, 2016.

Will not be long and online sales will be taxed at the state level where they are shipped to, the Walmart and Best Buy taxes they are sometimes referred to as they are paying most of the lobbying costs to make it happen.
Probably not long before PA sees a huge cigar tax as they will be desperate for $ to replace all that oil money that is vanishing.
Maybe Texas too!

Should be a SCORCHER DAY!

Commie governor would, but with a Republican State House, PA is a mirror of Federal dysfunctionality.

The very same gun control he introduced by the way. He will soon be out of the presidential election and can turn pro-tax and anti gun commie again.

A couple of more cheap oil & gas nightmares for the working class:
Schlumberger axed another 10,000 jobs and reported a net loss of $1 billion during the final three months of 2015, the world’s largest oil field services company reported Thursday.
Since peaking at a global workforce of 130,000 in 2014, Schlumberger has cut more than 25 percent of its employees, or 34,000 jobs, since then.
HOUSTON — Southwestern Energy Co. will shed more than 40 percent of its workforce starting in the first quarter as it pauses its U.S. drilling program to cope with low natural gas prices, the company said Thursday. A reduction of over 1,100 jobs.

Good morning Rick... Leo looks very happy this morning...

The moon was awesome this morning (5AM) low, through the trees and bright, orangish
You got mooned on the way into work?
Yes and it was fantastic

I have not had a Torp but bought 10 Toro's some time back and I would not give $19 for a box. But since $19 is not even a serious bid what difference does it make anyway.
Corona and Robusto's are really good smokes but we were being the coronas for around $50 with FS at CI on the close out.

Just contacted the Mrs to pick up some booze and she replied that she already returned from the supermarket and has no intention of going back out.
So I'll have to stop to pick up vermouth on the way home. She texted me back to pick up some booze for her too. Looks like we're finally on the same page.

@BD: Did you finish watching the Making a Murderer? If so, what did you think?
I watched the whole series. IMHO, I would have to have complete, undisputed evidence (beyond a shadow of a doubt,) in order to vote guilty. Almost everything about the case was screwed up. Nothing made sense. I've only sat on one jury, and it was not about finding the truth. It was about the DA winning at any cost, and the defense attorney doing any thing he could to persuade the jury. I don't want to spoil it for anyone else, but I feel this is the first attempt to allow the public know how corrupt our court system is. Rich people get off, and poor people feed the money making prison system.

You're smarter than them Tony. Avoid their errors like burning the victims belongings in a barrel next to the house and burning the victims body in a burn mound on your property and you should be in good shape.

We overuse the word corruption. It's corruption when the judge or the prosecution gets bribed. What you describe is the inherent flaw in a capitalist democratic republic: you get what you pay for. If you have more money, you can hire a better lawyer, and a better lawyer is your only defense against a venal prosecutor.

Shows how differently you can spin a story by leaving just a few facts out...
...and how easy it is to have the bleeding heart liberal commies signing petitions and protesting on your behalf.

Interesting perspective. I was on a jury once and we wound up letting the guy go although he very well could have been guilty. In my case the prosecutor did a very shitty job proving her case beyond a reasonable doubt. Agree that the system has flaws. Unfortunately, it still appears to be the best system out there.

It gets worse...the union I was legislated into helps perpetuate the prison system - just try to propose closing prisons and reducing the workforce.

Agree completely Raz. Of course the DA wants to prosecute (win) and the defense lawyer wants to get their client off (at all costs). In most cases, the onus is on the prosecutor for proof, and because of that plenty of "guilty" parties get off scott free.
This was a "documentary" with a bias (as many are). They are able to edit and selectively omit facts, statements and issues that don't fit neatly into their story. While not as grossly biased as a Michael Moore "documentary", this is no more a realistic presentation of facts as Fox News "Fair & Balanced"....not that CNN or MSNBC are much better.

Tell her you're not fukkin' changing your schedule, if she wants it get it herself.
But then Tony doesn't get his alcohol.
-
@BD: Did you finish watching the Making a Murderer? If so, what did you think?
You're smarter than them Tony. Avoid their errors like burning the victims belongings in a barrel next to the house and burning the victims body in a burn mound on your property and you should be in good shape.
Wild docu-series - really enjoyed watching it, never going to Wisco to commit a crime that's for sure.
Ummmm......there was this movie....and then TV show called "Fargo"...... ???
Would you believe that I've never seen the movie in its entirety? I've seen 1 or 2 episodes of the show :-[
Haven't seen either. Is there a crime committed in the movie/show?

She stopped at the supermarket, I will stop at the liquor store. I'm ok with that.

Well then, you have something else to put on your weekend social calendar.
I'm going to be perma-drunk from today at 5pm to Sunday at noon, but Sunday hangover might yield some Fargo watching

I just finished the first season a couple days ago, after watching the second season first. Excellent show, and movie.
My parents are obsessed with it, I"m excited to dive in. Just need to finish The Following first

It gets worse...the union I was legislated into helps perpetuate the prison system - just try to propose closing prisons and reducing the workforce.
We don't need to close prisons or reduce the workforce, just need to do a little better on the diversity.... ;)
Yes, but that ain't remotely simple.

Even Cruz's wife thinks he's a dumbass...
(NEWSER) – Millions of Americans have lost their health care coverage because of ObamaCare, and one of them is Ted Cruz, according to Ted Cruz. On Thursday night, the candidate told supporters in New Hampshire that his coverage in Texas was canceled at the end of 2015 because Blue Cross Blue Shield was leaving the market for individual policies in the state, reports Politico. It notes that Cruz had previously received coverage through his wife's job at Goldman Sachs, not his job in the Senate, but they bought an individual plan last year. Cruz said he's looking for a new plan, but "our premiums are going up 50%. That's happening all over the country."
Cruz's wife apparently thinks the lack of coverage is his fault, not President Obama's. "By the way, when you let your health insurance policy lapse, your wife gets really ticked at you," Cruz told the NH audience. "I've had, shall we say, some intense conversations with Heidi on that." Some fact-checking: Politico notes that Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas stopped selling some, but not all, individual policies in the state at the end of the year, while New York notes that, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation, the average premium increase last year was 2.4% in Texas and 5.7% in New Hampshire. (Bob Dole thinks Cruz could be a disaster for the GOP.)
So don't let facts get in the way of a good Obamacare bashing....

Turnabout's fair play. Obama doesn't let facts get in the way of his state of the union addresses either. Or his executive orders. Or his responses to terrorist acts.

Sadly true.

Think I'll go home, mix up some Manhattans, have a cigar then wax and polish my snowshovels.
Is that last part a euphemism?
Nothing euphemistic about it. He's going to go wax and polish his implements.
Exactly!

Goes pow every time you pull the trigger then shortly thereafter a hole appears on a piece of paper.

Don't worry, I've noticed that facts rarely get in the way of Obama bashing...
And that is the real scary part...
Why is that scary? People been lying about the President since the Washington administration. Come to think about it, that's when Presidents started lying to the American people as well. The country seems to be surviving quite well. No civil wars since 1865, anyway.
What is scary to me is the level of stupidity of a large amount of the American population. I'm not talking about not knowing your congressmen or Federal justices or even the state capitals and where Luxembourg is on the map...but the basic facts that are being trampled by all these clowns.

Yes, smartass, but does the hole appear where you aimed, and does the empty brass come out, and do you feel afterward like all is now right with the world, if only for a moment?

Hi Tony ... wish I had thought of the gin, also. Hope everyone's doing well. Was in DC for the Annual March for Life. Standing on frozen ground, listening to speakers, then March more or less from the Washington Monument to the Capitol and Supreme Court ... it is really amazing all the folks, especially youngn's who braved the cold and impending storm to come to DC to witness to the value of each and every human life and then go lobby their Congresspersons.
Snow started just as speeches ended and we began moving (which felt great ... for this arthritic body to start moving) ... seriously, the atmosphere was electric, joyous and loving ... folks of all ages, but especially the youth with their exuberance and color (many groups had their members wear a common color to identify themselves) ... a lot of creativity ... signs, songs and chants and prayers ... by the time we got to the Supreme Court it was a full blown heavy snow ... Carly Fiorina was a pretty good and convincing speaker ... She certainly wasn't in my top faves ... Didn't get to light up a cigar, even though I was carrying at least 5 for the adult males in our group. Unfortunately the local media has not seen fit to even cover it (as I'm watching and thawing out). It was a seriously impressive event ... tens of thousands ... yet they covered the Black Lives matter group of under 100 which did all kinds of things on MLK day to stop traffic, disrupt businesses ... but we were all peaceful, cooperative ... the police know that after 20-30 years, they have no problems from us ...
Well snow's realiy piling up ... low 20's, but the winds are supposed to kick up seriously overnight with even heavier bands of snow ... Take care all, who are in the path of this storm ... play it safe ... a buddy's wife was involved in a pile up and while walking away, slipped, felll and broke the wrist of her dominant (left) hand. It's going to be a tough 6-8 weeks ahead. it's hard having pleny of cigars, but no way to go somewhere to smoke them. Making me even more sympathetic of Oy and our other Northern BOTL.

I may be wrong, but I think it's NEWYEAR20
I actually used it last week. One of the codes had a "20" in it but required a minimum of $150. Maybe it was HAPPY20? Don't quote me on that. I'm pretty sure I used NEWYEAR by itself for 20% with no min.
