Old Lady's Phone
-------------------------

An elderly lady phoned her telephone company to report that her telephone failed to ring when her friends called -- and that on the few occasions when it did ring, her pet dog always moaned right before the phone rang. The telephone repairman proceeded to the scene, curious to see this psychic dog or senile elderly lady. He climbed a nearby telephone pole, hooked in his test set, and dialed the subscriber's house. The phone didn't ring right away, but then the dog moaned loudly and the telephone began to ring. Climbing down from the pole, the telephone repairman found.....

1. The dog was tied to the telephone system's ground wire via a steel chain and collar.
2. The wire connection to the ground rod was loose.
3. The dog was receiving 90 volts of signaling current when the phone number was called.
4. After a couple of such jolts, the dog would start moaning and then urinate on himself and the ground.
5. The wet ground would complete the circuit, thus causing the phone to ring.

.....Which goes to show that some problems CAN be fixed by pissing and moaning

Well, after two days off, it'll suck worse. Plus, I'm back in the People's Soviet Republic of Washington.

But I came home with enough whiskey to last at least the winter and maybe longer without paying the state usury here.

I'm quite certain there's a cap reason why they haven't cut him. They obviously don't want him on the team anymore. If they did, they'd have given him the start this week and the rest of the way to see what they've got with him. He'll be gone before next year. Probably the coach and GM, too.

Well, they'd given him the start for the rest of the season, and then he went out partying, video showed up, and he lied about it.  Now he's benched.  Boy just doesn't get it.  You have to y'know, actually get a position in the NFL before you can get away with fucking up.

had a good noon meeting, lunch with my golf partner, and a decent round of golf. driver and putter were spot on, wedges and irons need work. stopped by to see the lady and had pizza, and put up her Christmas tree. sitting outside in the 70° evening with a 5-8-5 maduro robusto and ginger ale.

I really think we have a problem with too many nuts in this country!

DEVELOPING: As many as a dozen people have reportedly been killed in what police call an active shooter situation Wednesday in San Bernardino, Calif., where SWAT teams were pursuing three suspects who may have escaped in an SUV.

As many as 30 hostages were seen coming out of the building, a center for treating developmentally disabled people, where the event occurred. Local Fox affiliate KTTV reported that at least 12 fatalities occurred inside the building, which was surrounded by authorities, just before noon local time. The FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms were responding

Looks like they just had a big shootout with the cops and 3 suspects may be dead.  Driving around within a mile or so of the original shooting.

One suspect DRT in the road.
Gun control, gun control, Squack!  Need people control not gun control.
Amen, this one is a strange deal with multiple well, prepared shooters not just some lone loose screw.

I will bet you 3 cigars and a pizza the guns they used were illegal in CA.
Update - 2 dead and 3rd got away and is barricaded in a home nearby.
Update - actually believed barricaded in a church in a mostly residential area.
Cops now leaving church and surrounding a home.  Possible shots fired from a parking garage nearby
Now driving up and down neighborhood streets in armored vehicles.  Looks just like San Bernadino, Afghanastan
Who would have ever thunk it

Multiple sources from multiple agencies identified one of the three attackers at the resource center to NBC News as Syed Farook. No other information was available, but a knowledgeable source said another member of the trio is believed to be Farook's brother.

The identity of the woman was unknown.
