We've got 8th grade graduation tonight. Apparently, this is a thing, with them going to the high school, even though the high school is just the other half of the current building she's in. Oldest didn't do it because of the #fakerona. But they had a process to submit a speech to read at the ceremony and two kids were selected, including mine. Can't wait to see what she has to say. Wrong choice. 

Reverse analysis: By the time I got to the last guess, there were 8 possible words. Four of them are extremely uncommon words, and two are archaic dialect-related slang - one Appalchian in origin and the other Southern (and now has taken on negative racial associations in some quarters).

The other two were the ones that had occurred to me, and I had to choose between. One of them was a fairly common noun in both American and British English, but the five-letter spelling was distinctly Brit. Most Americans, and in fact many Brits would use a six-letter spelling of that word. So...I ruled that one out and played the other, which was an adjective. I guessed correctly.

I'm guessing Tony either tried the British-spelled noun, or tried the archaic word that is Southern in origin. But that assumes he'd eliminated most or all of the same letters I had, so I could be off-base.
