Post by: CigarBanter on April 12, 2015, 12:01:00 AM
My buddy, Rich is running a 24 hour race in Italy.  By the time most of you read this he should have already won.  Check Rich Riopel at the following sites.  At the flip, he had completed about 130 miles with 4 hours to go.

Best Friend
-------------------------

A man is sitting at the bar in his local tavern, furiously imbibing shots
of whiskey. One of his friends happens to come into the bar and sees him.

"Lou," says the shocked friend, "what are you doing? I've known you for
over fifteen years, and I've never seen you take a drink before. What's
going on?"

Without even taking his eyes off his newly filled shot glass, the man
replies, "My wife just ran off with my best friend."

He then throws back another shot of whisky in one gulp.

"But," says the other man, "I'm your best friend!"

The man turns to his friend, looks at him through bloodshot eyes, smiles,
and then slurs, "Not anymore! He is!"

LOL!  This will be my last post about it...

What an amazing 24 hours!!!  Women placed 1, 2 and 4 with Katalin NAGY and Traci FALBO dominating and Maggie running the race of her life to finish fourth!!!
And two men, Rich RIOPEL and Harvey LEWIS, both placed in the Top 10 and Greg ARMSTRONG made a huge run. The Team (top 3 women/top 3 men) barely missed Bronze by a small margin.

Nelly?  Can't be so!

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Rapper and reality TV star Nelly is facing felony drug charges after being arrested in Tennessee on Saturday.

Tennessee Highway Patrol said in a news release that Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Haynes, was pulled over about 9:20 a.m. because the bus he was riding in failed to display a U.S. Department of Transportation and International Fuel Tax Association sticker.

According to the release troopers smelled marijuana when they reached the bus.

When troopers searched the bus, they found five rocks that tested positive for meth, as well as a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Officials told CBS affiliate WTVF in Nashville that troopers found around 100 small bags, commonly used for the sale of narcotics, plus numerous handguns, including a gold-plated 50-caliber Desert Eagle pistol, a 45-caliber Taurus pistol, and a 500 magnum Smith and Wesson.

At least one of the handguns was in possession of a convicted felon on the bus, officials said. That person was also arrested.

The St. Louis native, who is 40 years old, is facing charges including felony possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Nelly, 40, was released from Putnam County Jail on a $10,000 bond. His next court date is June 19.

I don't smoke in the mornings very often unless I am on vacation at the beach or such.  When I do smoke in the mornings it is usually a Hemingway Short Story, great cigar.  And on that topic I saw a while back the Short Story was one of the most complicated cigars to roll and only the best rollers construct them.

Wow, that must be some morning smoke. I hear you, I just don't seem to have time for one or the inclination, especially after having 2-3 the night before.  But on a rare occasion, I am able to enjoy one around noon time with coffee & the newspaper out on a deck.

To my friends on the banter, especially fellow Catholics (practicing & non-practicing): This day (not date) in 2000, Pope (now Saint) John Paul II declared to be Divine Mercy Sunday (do a search), that the Second Sunday of Easter, in perpetuity would be so named, after the request made by Jesus in His appearances to Sr. Faustina Kowalska in Poland in the 1930's (who knew what was about to happen & that if His words had been followed then, how the outcome might have been different)(However, the Nazi's invaded in 1939, committing terrible atrocities, thus beginning WWII).  JPII also canonized her at the same time (2000) formally recognizing the events, messages & promises given to St. Faustina, especially those graces & mercy especially availailable today on Divine Mercy Sunday and how to obtain them.
If I knew how, I would attach a copy of the painting of Jesus' Divine Mercy, familiar to many, which He requested the nun to have painted, of how He looked in appearing to her. (you can see it in a search ... check it out and see what importance He attached to it.)
See you guys later. Why am I putting this out there to you guys? Cause I love you all & it's something I know about & if it helps one person to live, to deal with a crisis, to prepare for their own death or that of a loved one ... It'll be worth it.  I'd feel bad if I held back on it for fear of criticism or ridicule.  P.S. Research it. The more you learn about it, the richer it gets.  Especially for a poor sinner like me.

Thanks, TR!  Two things I said I'd never watch on TV were golf & bowling.
Then one rainy Sat or Sun, I turned on the TV and it seemed the only things on were ...
You guessed it ... golf & bowling.  I sat entranced by the natural beauty of the golf course
and the amazing grace & athleticism of both the top pro golfers & bowlers.  It's what I see in all the sports ... incredible feats of human coordination, power, control, consistency ... So I've been following the Masters on & off all weekend, except today.  Jordan Speith has been so smooth, kept his head ... great to watch.

Miguel Ángel Jiménez on the practice range at the Masters with a giant vitola cigar in his mouth!   May have been a Gurkha not sure.  All cigar guys gotta luv it :).  Funny thing is he is just practicing he did not make the cut.
Probably wants to give his Gurkha sponsor some air time.

Having some Catholic school flashbacks or something?
Not many still know the Mass in Latin anymore.  Had to go to a special Latin service last year...think I remember more of that than the stupid changes they've made to the current Mass (which I choose to ignore)

Interesting stuff, SLY.  But we'll still continue to ridicule you.  ;)
Along with everybody else around here :)
I don't watch bowling, at least 25 years away from that point but I have always watched the Majors and a few others in golf with the. Masters being my favorite.
