Happy Tuesday! In between insults we'll occasionally discuss cigars.  Join in and perhaps learn something along the way. Warning: don't proceed if you have thin skin but don't be afraid to post either... And welcome aboard!

Wife had her coronavirus test yesterday. They do a nasal swab, and apparently, they're trying to reach your thoughts when they do it. Sounded unpleasant. Waiting on the results.

She never had much of a fever, except for one period of a couple hours, so I really don't think she has it, so I'm not too concerned. But I am not a medical doctor, so we'll see.

Today is Tuesday, March 24, the 84th day of 2020. There are 282 days left in the year.

Today’s Highlight in History:
On March 24, 1989, the supertanker Exxon Valdez (vahl-DEEZ’) ran aground on a reef in Alaska’s Prince William Sound and began leaking an estimated 11 million gallons of crude oil.

On this date:
In 1765, Britain enacted the Quartering Act, requiring American colonists to provide temporary housing to British soldiers.
In 1882, German scientist Robert Koch (kohk) announced in Berlin that he had discovered the bacillus responsible for tuberculosis.

In 1955, the Tennessee Williams play “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” opened on Broadway.
In 1958, Elvis Presley was inducted into the U.S. Army at the draft board in Memphis, Tennessee, before boarding a bus for Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. (Presley underwent basic training at Fort Hood, Texas, before being shipped off to Germany.)

In 1975, Muhammad Ali defeated Chuck Wepner with a technical knockout in the 15th round of a fight in Richfield, Ohio. (Wepner, a journeyman known as the “Bayonne Bleeder,” inspired Sylvester Stallone to make his “Rocky” films.)
In 1976, the president of Argentina, Isabel Peron, was deposed by her country’s military. British war hero Field Marshal Viscount Montgomery, 88, died in Alton, Hampshire, England.

In 1980, one of El Salvador’s most respected Roman Catholic Church leaders, Archbishop Oscar Arnulfo Romero, was shot to death by a sniper as he celebrated Mass in San Salvador.
In 1988, former national security aides Oliver L. North and John M. Poindexter and businessmen Richard V. Secord and Albert Hakim pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from the Iran-Contra affair. (North and Poindexter were convicted, but had their verdicts thrown out; Secord and Hakim received probation after each pleaded guilty to a single count under a plea bargain.)

In 1995, after 20 years, British soldiers stopped routine patrols in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
In 1998, two students, ages 13 and 11, opened fire outside Jonesboro Westside Middle School in Arkansas, killing four classmates and a teacher. (The gunmen were imprisoned by Arkansas until age 18, then by federal authorities until age 21.)

In 1999, NATO launched airstrikes against Yugoslavia, marking the first time in its 50-year existence that it had ever attacked a sovereign country. Thirty-nine people were killed when fire erupted in the Mont Blanc tunnel in France and burned for two days.
In 2001, U.S. skater Michelle Kwan won her fourth World Figure Skating title in Vancouver, British Columbia; Irina Slutskaya of Russia got the silver, and American Sarah Hughes earned the bronze.

Ten years ago: Keeping a promise he’d made to anti-abortion Democratic lawmakers to assure passage of his historic health care legislation, President Barack Obama signed an executive order against using federal funds to pay for elective abortions covered by private insurance. Actor Robert Culp died in Los Angeles at age 79. Singer Johnny Maestro died in Florida at age 70.

Five years ago: Germanwings Flight 9525, an Airbus A320, crashed into the French Alps, killing all 150 people on board; investigators said the jetliner was deliberately downed by the 27-year-old co-pilot, Andreas Lubitz. President Barack Obama received Afghan President Ashraf Ghani at the White House, where Obama agreed to slow the U.S military pullout from Afghanistan at the request of its new government but insisted the delay would not jeopardize his commitment to end America’s longest war before leaving office.

One year ago: Attorney General William Barr reported that special counsel Robert Mueller did not find evidence that President Donald Trump’s campaign “conspired or coordinated” with Russia to influence the 2016 presidential election, but reached no conclusion on whether Trump obstructed justice; Democrats pointed out that Mueller had found evidence for and against obstruction, and they demanded to see his full report. (The report would be released in April.) New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski announced that he was retiring from the NFL after nine seasons, which had included three Super Bowl victories.

finally got approval for one of two meds from the insurance company. was on the phone with my doctor's office and insurance company off and on for most of yesterday. I finally asked the doctor to send a list of meds for inflammation and pain to the insurance company that he thought would help me and for them to approve one. Walgreens has waived delivery charge of meds through FedEx. should be here today or tomorrow. alot of nasty side effects with this one though. we shall see.

Finished up my latest rifle.  Been working on this for a year, on and off.  Was supposed to take it to Front Sight second week of April.  But Nevada's shut down.  Sigh.

After I finished this one, I had most of the parts for one more, so now I'm finishing that.

Local course sent an email about opening Thursday. Among the new provisions, no one is allowed into the pro shop, only 1 person at a time in the locker room or bathroom, carts 1 per person, the cup is raised out of the ground 1 inch and anything that hits it is holed, no touching the flagstick, and there's a 3-foot circle around the hole. Anything inside it is a gimme. Bout to be a lot of career rounds out there, I think.

I guess I don't understand the reasoning of the barrel extending past the shield as much as it does.

Waiting for results on Corona. Blood work and urine came back good. I'm in self quarantine pending results and being fever free with no aspirin for 3 days at the least.

Florida apparently is still open:

Holland America ship hopes to dock at Port Everglades with 42 sick people on board.

According to Holland America, the Zaandam cruise ship has 13 guests and 29 crew experiencing influenza-like symptoms.

Testing for the coronavirus is currently not on board the ship while officials from the cruise line as well as the state of Florida and Broward County have not confirmed if testing would be provided should it be allowed to dock.

"Since it is flu season, and COVID-19 testing is not available on board, it is difficult to determine the cause of these elevated cases at this time," Holland America said in a statement.

All 1,243 guests and 586 crew on board have been asked to stay in their rooms as the ship sails to Fort Lauderdale. The ship is scheduled to dock at Port Everglades on Monday, March 30.

The Zaandam originally left Buenos Aires, Argentina on March 7 and was supposed to end on March 21st in Chile – however, it has been in the water since March 14 after passengers were denied the chance to leave and take flights home.

However, the ship is still trying to secure permission to enter the Panama Canal and looking into different options should that permission be denied.

Tampa is now 'stay the fuck home', just a matter of time the rest of the state goes on lick down. snowbidiots are flocking back or just not leaving.
Nice Freudian slip.

Hello Guys. I was running a fever last night and this morning. With me considered essential personel. Doctor instructed me to go to ER. I was tested for flu and Corona virus. Flu came back negative. Waiting for results on Corona. Blood work and urine came back good. I'm in self quarantine pending results and being fever free with no aspirin for 3 days at the least.
Take care brothers...
Here's hoping it's just a minor bug.  nCov isn't the plague, but it can still beat hell out of you.
