It's Tuesday again! In between insults we'll occasionally discuss cigars.  Join in and perhaps learn something along the way. Warning: don't proceed if you have thin skin but don't be afraid to post either... And welcome aboard!

Early morning everyone....  And it's time for a little Alka-Seltzer....  I knew I shouldn't have drank that glass of gin before I went to bed.  Well I've sort of been enjoying my new pipe.  The pipe works great, and now it's just trying different tobaccos to see if I can find the one I like most.  So far on a scale of 1 to 10, the tobaccos have been coming in around a 5 to 7 rating, so I'm still looking for that 9 and 10.  On the other hand, I can smoke in the house and it smells like I'm baking chocolate brownies or vanilla cookies, so my wife is happy..!   And I know you guys have been waiting on pins and needles waiting to find out about that blueberry coffee we bought....  As it turns out, the coffee was pretty darn good.  Some thing you would like to have once a week as a change of pace.  My wife loves it....!  Well it's summer now, and the grandkids ( 8 and 10 years old ) will be here at 7 a.m. tomorrow and Thursday.  So it looks like we are going to have a fun summer.  Last Saturday we had the grandkids for the day, and then that night my other son stayed overnight.  Sunday my son stayed over night again and let us do his laundry.  Monday we got the day off except for the 8 year old neighbor kid that stopped by to visit for 4 hours.  It seems he feels that my X-box is more fun than his.  Even thou they are the same and he's playing the same games.  They are more fun at our house than his...  But we finally got him to go home, and he only came back two more times...  Well, that's it for now....  I need to go back to bed now, so I can get up early and cook breakfast for everyone, then do the dishes.  I doubt I'll get the computer again until tonight... Later guys...!

Today is Tuesday, June 4, the 155th day of 2019. There are 210 days left in the year.

Today's Highlight in History:
On June 4, 1942, the World War II Battle of Midway began, resulting in a decisive American victory against Japan and marking the turning point of the war in the Pacific

On this date:
In 1812, the Louisiana Territory was renamed the Missouri Territory, to avoid confusion with the recently admitted state of Louisiana. The U.S. House of Representatives approved, 79-49, a declaration of war against Britain.
In 1919, Congress approved the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, guaranteeing citizens the right to vote regardless of their gender, and sent it to the states for ratification.
In 1940, during World War II, the Allied military evacuation of some 338,000 troops from Dunkirk, France, ended. British Prime Minister Winston Churchill declared: "We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender."
In 1943, the president of Argentina, Ramon Castillo, was overthrown in a military coup.
In 1944, U-505, a German submarine, was captured by a U.S. Navy task group in the south Atlantic; it was the first such capture of an enemy vessel at sea by the U.S. Navy since the War of 1812. The U.S. Fifth Army began liberating Rome.
In 1954, French Premier Joseph Laniel and Vietnamese Premier Buu Loc signed treaties in Paris according "complete independence" to Vietnam.
In 1986, Jonathan Jay Pollard, a former U.S. Navy intelligence analyst, pleaded guilty in Washington to conspiring to deliver information related to the national defense to Israel. (Pollard, sentenced to life in prison, was released on parole on Nov. 20, 2015.)
In 1990, Dr. Jack Kevorkian carried out his first publicly assisted suicide, helping Janet Adkins, a 54-year-old Alzheimer's patient from Portland, Oregon, end her life in Oakland County, Michigan.
In 1998, a federal judge sentenced Terry Nichols to life in prison for his role in the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City.
In 2000, President Bill Clinton and Russian President Putin (POO'-tihn) ended their summit by conceding differences on missile defense, agreeing to dispose of weapons-grade plutonium and pledging early warning of missile and space launches.
In 2003, Martha Stewart stepped down as head of her media empire, hours after federal prosecutors in New York charged her with obstruction of justice, conspiracy, securities fraud and lying to investigators. (Stewart was later convicted of lying about why she'd sold her shares of ImClone Systems stock in 2001, just before the stock price plunged.)

Ten years ago: Speaking at Cairo University, President Barack Obama called for a "new beginning between the United States and Muslims" and said together, they could confront violent extremism across the globe. Actor David Carradine, 72, was found dead in a Bangkok, Thailand, hotel room.

Five years ago: On the second day of a visit to Poland, President Barack Obama held up the nation as a guidepost for neighboring Ukraine as it sought to fend off a pro-Russian insurgency; later that same day, in Brussels, Obama attended a meeting of the Group of Seven major industrial nations, with the pointed exclusion of Russia from the gathering. A gunman fatally wounded three Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers and wounded two others in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. (Justin Bourque was convicted of the shootings and sentenced to life in prison.) Baseball player, manager and coach Don Zimmer, 83, died in Dunedin, Florida.

One year ago: President Donald Trump claimed that he had an "absolute right" to pardon himself, but that it wouldn't be necessary because had had "done nothing wrong;" Trump also tweeted that the Justice Department's appointment of a special counsel in the Russia probe was "totally unconstitutional." The Supreme Court ruled in favor of a Colorado baker who wouldn't make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple, but it was a limited decision that didn't address the larger issue of whether a business can invoke religious objections to refuse service to gay and lesbian people. Howard Schultz announced that he was stepping down as executive chairman of Starbucks, and said public service may be in his future. Saudi Arabia issued its first driver's licenses to women as the kingdom prepared to lift the world's only ban on women driving.

the reason it took over 5 hours to get home from JAX last night.

LAKE CITY, Fla. (WTXL) — All northbound and southbound lanes of I-75 and the westbound lanes of I-10 are closed at the I-75/I-10 interchange in Columbia County due to a crash involving a Midway truck driver.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a Midway truck driver was driving his semi west on I-10 on Monday around 2 p.m. when an unknown vehicle cut him off.

To avoid hitting the vehicle, troopers say the driver swerved, causing a piece of machinery on the truck to fall off. The large piece of machinery then rolled off I-10, causing major damage to the road and overpass.

Thankfully, the truck driver was uninjured in the crash.

As a result of the crash, I-10 westbound and both northbound and southbound I-75 are currently closed at the I-75/I-10 interchange in Columbia County (mile marker 296B) due to a crash. I-10 WB is closed at U.S. 41 to detour traffic, I-75 NB is closed at U.S. 90 and I-75 SB is closed at State Road 136.

Due to the damage to the road and overpass, the following detours are in place:

To continue northbound on I-75, motorists will be required to go east on I-10 to US 41, go north on US 41 to County road 136, go west on CR 136 to I-75.
To continue westbound travel on I-10, motorists will be required to exit onto to I-75 NB
For southbound travel on I-75, travelers will exit off at the US 129 exit and follow the local detour signs for I-10
The Suwannee County Sheriff's office is warning residennts that some of the traffic is being detoured through the county in the areas of CR136/I-75, CR136/CR137, CR 137/I-10, CR137/US 90. Traffic in these areas are likely to be heavy at times. FHP, DOT, and the SCSO are monitoring those intersections and are assisting with traffic control.

Troopers say travel advisories will be updated as needed.

Surprised no one said "tossed"!
not tossed. I just throw it in a big bowl with a lid on it and shake the heck out of it.
Shaken, not tossed.

I only gently stir my salads so that the leaves won't wilt.

@ Tony - went to a new to me family Italian restaurant for lunch today.  Owned by a guy from Long Island, quite an old character.  Food was reasonably priced and good. Chicken Parmigiana with Angel Hair Pasta and some really good fresh cooked Italian bread.

I'm stahvin'. Made some chicken parm for dinner yesterday, in fact. Wish I had some leftovers with me today.

Wonder where the Lon Guylander was from in the old country? You'll have to investigate further on your next visit.

No, not shaken, tossed, or gently stirred, either.  Perfect burn and draw.  Enjoying it though I'm not picking up any distinctive flavors at this point (TWSS).

Lots of nice hardwood and cinnamon notes. I like this even better than LP Classic.

Started this beauty on the bike and now watching Yankees on the tube. Burn evened out nicely. Medium at best with a very nice flavor profile and a sweetness coming through. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190604/f4bc1afb31673c0c0ac738bbce522483.jpg)
