Ten people were killed in an apartment fire just outside Columbus, Ohio. Hurricane Ivan battered the Cayman Islands with ferocious 150-mph winds. Five years ago: Tens of thousands of protesters marched to the U.S. Capitol, showing their disdain for President Barack Obama's health care plan. The president, keeping up the drumbeat for his proposal, told a packed rally in Minneapolis, "I will not accept the status quo. Not this time. Not now." Serena Williams' U.S. Open title defense ended with a bizarre loss to Kim Clijsters (KLY'-sturz) after Williams went into a tirade against a line judge who'd called her for a foot fault; following her outburst, Williams was penalized a point for unsportsmanlike conduct, ending the match, 6-4, 7-5. Bear Remover
-------------------------

A man wakes up one morning to find a bear on his roof. So he looks in the yellow pages and sure enough, there's an ad for "Bear Removers."

He calls the number, and the bear remover says he'll be over in 30 minutes. The bear remover arrives, and gets out of his van. He's got a ladder, a baseball bat, a shotgun and a mean old pit bull.

"What are you going to do," the homeowner asks?

"I'm going to put this ladder up against the roof, then I'm going to go up there and knock the bear off the roof with this baseball bat. When the bear falls off, the pit bull is trained to grab his testicles and not let go. The bear will then be subdued enough for me to put him in the cage in the back of the van."

He hands the shotgun to the homeowner.

"What's the shotgun for?" asks the homeowner.

"If the bear knocks me off the roof, shoot the dog."

Find two while you are at it cause the idiotic performance based stupidity is driving me fucking crazy.  Simply means do less of what you measure and measure more of what you do.  Or in another words it is a circle jerk and nobody ever squirts.

Thee is a nice big courtyard (restaurant and main in front with two wings of rooms) where I occasionally sit and smoke.  On more than one occasion, have women comment how nice the aroma is.  Don't get that here.

You are correct on aroma but one time about 7 or 8 years ago in of all places Philly I was in a really neat hotel bar where you could smoke a cigar and lit up a big ole Serie R #7 Maduro with my scotch and a lady told me it was a great smelling cigar.  Only time I ever remember that happening.

Got my personal info about the performance based scheduling shit that's starting next year. Looks like I'll be in the market for a new job. Fuck me.
Find two while you are at it cause the idiotic performance based stupidity is driving me fucking crazy.  Simply means do less of what you measure and measure more of what you do.  Or in another words it is a circle jerk and nobody ever squirts.
Fucking ridiculous is what it is.

Some Bueso's for Dave!
I've still got about 15 of these in robusto form, I'm good. ;)
Need to start filling your cart up.....Gurkha knife with $125 order.
When I went into work yesterday, I was scheduled to fly to Germany on Sat.  By midday I was rebooked to fly to JWackyland for next week.  Sheesh!
Only difference is the weather is better in Wackyland.
I was looking forward to the other trip however....great little place I stay in outside of Kiel, one of my favorites.  The owner lets me smoke in the bar after hours.  http://baerenkrug.de/
I don't even want to know what you had to do with his wiener schnitzel for that privilege

Perhaps you and LTG should just say fuckit and move to an RV park in Florida.  There is a precedent for such a move, you know.
Don't rule it out for me!  Warden is also fed up with performance based bullshit. Actually,  That is exactly what got the Veterans Administration Hospitals in so much trouble.  They create all these numerical goals (metrix is the common term term) that make for big bonus's up top then have everybody trying to beat the system to meet those goals while real needs and opportunities are neglected is a simple but accurate description.

+1 and that very performance based bullshit is the reason.
Y'all made me Google this "performance based scheduling".  All I've found is it applies to call centers.  Something about giving the "most productive" more hours when it gets slow, or first dibs on the schedule.  But if your job isn't in a call center, not sure how it applies.

It adds in the ability of company protection, so it's easier to 'dispose' of protected classes.  They need to prove you didn't do your job if you take legal action...best way is Metrics.  I disagree completely with what they are doing, but from their perspective they don't have any other choice when every laid off employee is taking legal action.

It is a subset of performance based management that applies to certain segments of the structure.   We don't have that part as such but as a whole  it is generally designed to fuck the high performers and cover for the deadbeats.

That is about 10% correct.  It is 90% directed towards fooling the stockholders and highest level bonus's.  It was initiated with socialist controlled European companies and the VA was one of the first to figure out how to use it here.   Unfortunately in time it implodes just as it did for the VA.

CI exclusives yes, but they have different leaf makeup.  Somebody had put up the comparison when we discussed them a couple of weeks ago.  RyJ is San Andres, H. Upmann is PA Broadleaf, and Monte's are Conn. Broadleaf.

Morning Senior Status!
Pretty bad Dave and a Yellow 4 Star Schoolboy are Senior Status and Tony is an Associate.  Another Performance Based Management example.
Just now noticed the changes. I'm thinking, "what the fuck are these guys talking about?" You know, moreso than usual.
I was gonna say, that would be a normal response.  Glad you clarified.

I wonder if there is a cigar banter site for the 1%.  Wonder what they're discussing?
Yeah it is called CI and they are drunk talking about Travellin Dave most of the time
They're just as downtrodden as us.  They ain't the 1%, trust me.
You and I know that but they don't seem to as they boast of their Cubans!
Maybe they should take their expertise over to habanoscritic.com.

"Americans who go to Cuba with a license from the U.S. government have the added pleasure of being allowed to buy Cuban cigars and bring them back to the United States -- just not very many. The Treasury Department allows licensed U.S. travelers who go directly to and from Cuba to bring back up to $100 worth of Cuban goods."
"The law prohibiting the importing of Cuban cigars has existed for decades, but many cigar smokers remain confused over its details; a common misperception is that it's legal to import up to 100 Cuban cigars, and that they can come from any source country. The answers are no, and no. "

No. The allowance for bringing in up to $100 worth of Cuban cigars if you were on authorized travel to Cuba is no longer in effect. All importations of Cuban cigars are illegal, including Cuban cigars that were acquired in other countries (such as Canada, England, or Mexico).

And the U.S. customs take them right back away from you if they find them.  I have plenty of international travel under my belt and seen plenty of people taken out of the line to have their 3 Cubans seized.  The duty free simply means you are not paying Mexican duties has nothing to do whatsoever with U.S. laws.  There is no new law, they are illegal to bring into the U.S. Whether by personal carry or by mail order in any quantity for any use.

Aside from all that, they're just too frickin' expensive....and not all that good.  As I've said before, if you can't smoke and enjoy a cigar when you buy it, it's not worth it.  Having to hold on to cigars for a year or more  so that they can be smokable after spending $200+ on a box.  I don't think so....and the same people complain about spending more than $5 for a readily smokable Nicaraguan or whatever  (Oy excluded....he's different)

Aside from all that, they're just too frickin' expensive....and not all that good.  As I've said before, if you can smoke and enjoy a cigar when you buy it, it's not worth it.  Having to hold on to cigars for a year or more  so that they can be smokable after spending $200+ on a box.  I don't think so....and the same people complain about spending more than $5 for a readily smokable Nicaraguan or whatever  (Oy excluded....he's different)
Lot more whiskey big talk than buying and smoking.

Did not know that !
The import ban extends to Cuban-origin cigars and other Cuban-origin tobacco products offered for sale over the Internet or through a catalog. It is also illegal for U.S. persons to buy, sell, trade, or otherwise engage in transactions involving illegally-imported Cuban cigars.  Importation of Cuban-origin cigars and other Cuban-origin tobacco products is prohibited whether the goods are purchased by the importer or given to the importer as a gift.

There are some I really like, but they aren't cheap...and it makes it hard without 'deals' or samplers.  Not saying anything anyone hasn't heard, but CCs aren't better than every NC and NCs aren't better than every CC...just different.  Almost like an Islay scotch versus a non-Islay...personal preference.

Have tried many of them many time when visiting overseas and rarely find them as being even as good as a nice quality Dominican or Nicaraguan cigar. What T Dave said is absolutely correct.  Deal is if they catch them you lose the cigars and the seller keeps your money then you might get fined a few hundred $ not a big deal unless you ever have to pass a background check of any depth then you are fuct.  Nothing wrong with liking you them though!

Fishing and yard gar theory is you might drop it or some how damage it, maybe even not even finish it in which cases not a big loss.  I dropped an $8 cigar in the pool the other day about 3 puffs after lighting it and would have been much happier if it were a $2.50 decent smoking yard gar.  About 3 months aging and those PDR's are pretty damn good actually.

Yeah and the checks in the mail.  If they simply seize them in the mail and nothing more which is usually what happens and all is fine but if they go to the trouble to make a case and fine you then it becomes a crime.  DHS has plenty of time on their hands and the govt is broke so enforcement is likely to increase would be my guess.

They should just start selling the drugs they confiscate overseas :)

Have tried many of them many time when visiting overseas and rarely find them as being even as good as a nice quality Dominican or Nicaraguan cigar. they allow import for personal use, you can't sell them here.
You might want to check with your attorney on that belief.
next time your in Mexico check, not sure if it's a new law. The duty free shop does us sales.
They do those sales because they don't know, or care, which way you are traveling(from or to the US)
the guys who make those laws, all smoke Cuban cigars. it's just the lil people like us who cant have them!
It is also illegal for both the giver and the receiver to gift them in or into the U.S. too.

Heard a comedian make a nice joke about the national debt, it was pretty good.  Can't recall the exact wording but he emphasized the use of 'our' when talking to a politician..."i think you mean 'your' debt"

Juan Lopez Seleccion No. 1

25 cigars
€132.54 EUR   ~USD 172.00  €117.90 EUR  ~USD 153.00. www.puroexpress.com
What the fuck is wrong with you?  Are you trying to get us shut down?!?!?!
CI Banter is reserved for illegal offerings.
its not illegal
The purchase, import and sale of Cuban cigars in or into the U.S. is not illegal?
they allow import for personal use, you can't sell them here.
It is also illegal for both the giver and the receiver to gift them in or into the U.S. too.
Dave , I agree with every thing you are saying . but I do have to say I like them a lot .
That's why I hide mine in the A/C ducked.
It's a duct dingbat

Me too but they are grossly overpriced.  I bought an FNX 45 when they first came out and it is one heavy duty piece of machinery.  That said I am otherwise mostly a glock-a-holic.
