It's Tuesday again! In between insults we'll occasionally discuss cigars.  Join in and perhaps learn something along the way. Warning: don't proceed if you have thin skin but don't be afraid to post either... And welcome aboard!

Today is Tuesday, Feb. 4, the 35th day of 2020. There are 331 days left in the year.

Today’s Highlight in History:
On Feb. 4, 2004, the social networking website Facebook had its beginnings as Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg launched “Thefacebook.”

On this date:
In 1783, Britain’s King George III proclaimed a formal cessation of hostilities in the American Revolutionary War.
In 1789, electors chose George Washington to be the first president of the United States.
In 1861, delegates from six southern states that had recently seceded from the Union met in Montgomery, Alabama, to form the Confederate States of America.

In 1938, the Thornton Wilder play “Our Town” opened on Broadway. Walt Disney’s animated feature “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” opened in general U.S. release.
In 1944, the Bronze Star Medal, honoring “heroic or meritorious achievement or service,” was authorized by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
In 1945, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Soviet leader Josef Stalin began a wartime conference at Yalta.

In 1974, newspaper heiress Patricia Hearst, 19, was kidnapped in Berkeley, California, by the radical Symbionese Liberation Army.
In 1976, more than 23,000 people died when a severe earthquake struck Guatemala with a magnitude of 7.5, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
In 1983, pop singer-musician Karen Carpenter died in Downey, California, at age 32.
In 1997, a civil jury in Santa Monica, California, found O.J. Simpson liable for the deaths of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman.

In 2004, the Massachusetts high court declared that gay couples were entitled to nothing less than marriage, and that Vermont-style civil unions would not suffice.
In 2018, the Philadelphia Eagles, led by backup quarterback Nick Foles, became NFL champs for the first time since 1960, beating Tom Brady and the New England Patriots 41-33 in the Super Bowl.

Ten years ago: Republican Scott Brown took over the seat of the late Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy as he was sworn in by Vice President Joe Biden at a Capitol Hill ceremony. The first National Tea Party Convention opened in Nashville.

Five years ago: As Boston continued to dig out from more than 3 feet of snow in the past week, the New England Patriots were finally honored with a parade celebrating their fourth Super Bowl win. Some fans defied police warnings and watched the parade from atop giant piles of snow.

One year ago: Jury deliberations began in the New York trial of Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman. (Guzman was convicted of murder conspiracy and drug trafficking and was sentenced to life in prison.) More than a dozen European Union countries endorsed Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido (gwy-DOH’) as the country’s interim president, increasing pressure on embattled President Nicolas Maduro to resign and clear the way for a new election. A British newspaper published an interview with actor Liam Neeson in which Neeson admitted that he’d had violent thoughts about killing a black person nearly 40 years earlier after learning that someone close to him had been raped.

A kid gets onto the short bus and starts annoying the bus driver...
The little kid sits down in the front seat and starts saying:

kid:"If my parents were tigers, id be a little tiger!'
kid: "If my parents were giraffes, id be a little giraffe!"

Bus Driver: "shut up, shut up"

Kid: "If my parents were dogs id be a little dog!"

finally the driver gets annoyed and says: "O yea? what if your mom was a prostitute and your dad was a homo? Then what would u be?!"

Kid: "A bus driver."

Donald Trump's grandfather immigrated to the United States in 1885 at the age of 16.
But his grandfather didn't use the name Drumpf. Although that had been the originally spelling of the family's name, it had already been changed during the reign of Napoleon around the turn of the 19th century.

They should have let Tony set up a poll on cigarbanter.  The Russian bots could vote for their favorite Dem also.
So, still Drumpf?
Donald Trump's grandfather immigrated to the United States in 1885 at the age of 16.
But his grandfather didn't use the name Drumpf. Although that had been the originally spelling of the family's name, it had already been changed during the reign of Napoleon around the turn of the 19th century.
But the Donald said he was Swedish, not German...

Dean, you good?

I curious about where the name Drumph came from and was surprised it was an actual Donald name.
Good on you for trying to expand your knowledge base. Not a lot of that going on these days.
We're all about expanding our knowledge base here in Banterland.  I can't wait for someone to bring up tree nuts at a meeting.
You will be for sure.  Save drupes for the closer.

Exactly.  CB smoking Gurkha's now?  Not that there's anything wrong with that.
An old CB smoking an old Gurkha.  Part of that limited run, the Blue Steels.  Only Gurk I bought on purpose.  Found a fiver the other say in the bottom of a tray in my frigidore.

really? must have been the wrong link. John Hopkins has done extensive studies on dietary nutritional foods for RA. I do not go for the pain med route, more the anti-inflammatory and biologics the tend to arrest the RA from getting worse.

Florida Man is released from jail on an auto theft charge. He immediately breaks into another car in the jail’s parking lot and is caught because a deputy was sitting behind the wheel, the Pasco Sheriff’s Office said. "Florida Man" and hurricanes are generally a bad combo, but this year was different. That's because one Florida man came up with a genius way of protecting his Smart car from Hurricane Dorian when he decided to park it in his kitchen. "I said there was no way he could. He said he could," the man's wife said. "So he opened the double doors and had it in. I was amazed that it could fit. He had it in with no problems."

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Florida man was “buck naked” when he showed up to the front door of a home where an undercover sex sting operation was being conducted, according to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.

Records show Rodney Davis was one of 124 people arrested during Operation Santa’s Naughty List, which targeted prostitutes, child predators and johns during a six-day period.

As part of the operation, deputies said they used internet advertisements to arrange meetings between suspects and undercover detectives.

Judd said Davis was among the 46 people accused of trying to meet a prostitute for sex.

Video from the undercover operation shows Davis was nude when he arrived at the undercover location.

“This guy walked up to the front door of this home in a neighborhood on a cool evening buck naked. Now if you don’t know the difference in naked and buck naked, buck naked means you’re not even wearing your socks. He didn’t have a stitch of clothes on but he was carrying a shirt, I guess in case of an emergency. He walked into the house, he was proud of himself - that’s up for debate,” Judd said.

DAYTONA BEACH — A woman who was naked when she shot a man to death outside an apartment was sentenced Monday to 25 years in prison, according to the State Attorney's Office.

Latasha Reaves, 41, pleaded no contest to a charge of second-degree murder, which carried a penalty of up to life in prison, said John Scott, spokesman for the 7th Circuit State Attorney R.J. Larizza's office.

Circuit Judge James Clayton adjudicated Reaves guilty and sentenced her to a minimum mandatory sentence of 25 years in prison.

Reaves will receive 698 days credit for time served in the Volusia County Branch Jail awaiting sentencing.

A blast from the past - remember the Gurkha Blue Steel?
no. I thought it was the knife Dave cut himself with at CF2013. 🤣
hello Mike.
Smoke 'em if you got 'em!

Looks like I'll have a puppy when I get back from NJ. Son is getting a dog and thought it would be a good idea for me to watch it until it is old enough to comfortably make it through the day until he comes home from work.
