It's a machine. Even with regular service, it has a finite life span. At some point, it will turn on, and that will be the last time it will. It's only a matter of time.

True, and there are plenty of rip off artist service companies out there who will try to sell you unneeded work.  Selling additional work is the point of having a service contract from their point of view.  So I guess you're f'ked no matter what!

Another non-cigar topic....any of you own a Surface Pro?  I'm thinking about replacing my laptop with one.  Saw one in action recently and thought it was really handy.  Problem is that bastard Bill Gates is mighty proud of them.  About $2K configured with what I need.
